As a Data Strategies Manager, you will manage projects that look at historical, current, and predictive views of the business to support key partners in decision making. Work closely with marketing, operations, and other departments to perform statistical analyses addressing business challenges. You will supervise, mentor, and train one or more direct reports. You will assign projects to your team and monitor progress. Success will be measured by your ability to provide in-depth insights and recommendations that solve business challenges as well as your ability to provide highly consumable data to the organization.
- * Partner with corporate and property leadership in marketing, operations, and other departments to understand business challenges and offer data-based solutions.
- Develop and present comprehensive analyses, including insights and recommendations, to various levels of the organization, including senior leadership and marketing leadership.
- Lead test and learn experimentation efforts including experiment prioritization, test design, and providing key learnings with recommendations.
- Support direct marketing, special events, and promotional activities through robust customer segmentation, performance analysis, test design and analysis, and predictive modeling.
- Analyze large data sources to understand key drivers of the business.
- Manage assigned projects from inception to completion. This includes meeting with business partners, clearly defining the problem or question, formulating an approach, executing the analysis, creating conclusions and recommendations, and presenting findings to the business.
- Write SQL to extract, manipulate, and move data within the Boyd Gaming technology stack.
- Provide clear, insightful, and meaningful analysis that supports decision making.
- Create and maintain documentation of processes.
- Hire, train, coach, and develop other members of the Data Strategies team.
- Prioritize and manage the workload of your direct report(s).
- Drive efficiency in the department through automation.
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with outside vendors, the properties, and other corporate departments.

The Manager, Business Intelligence will conduct critical strategic analysis for the Stores teams at Ross and dd's Discounts, leading to insight and actions that improve business performance. This position will report to the Director of Business Intelligence and will frequently interact VP stakeholders and Stores Leadership. The candidate will utilize their training in analytics to accurately and efficiently process large amounts of data, revealing store performance trends and identifying root causes. They summarize results into clear written communications for Stores Leadership and Senior Executives. These reporting and analysis responsibilities are a mix of recurring (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and ad-hoc activities, depending on business needs and priorities. The position will require the Manager to establish cross-functional partnerships across all facets of the organization (both Field and Corporate).
The base salary range for this role is $93,000 - $140,400. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Design and conduct financial and operational analyses to understand drivers of performance and identify root causes of changes in performance trends:
• Examples include store sales analysis (by various store segmentations), profitability drivers, analysis of operational metrics, impact from strategic initiatives, etc.
• Proactively identify opportunities and execute analysis to develop tangible and fact-based recommendations to improve performance.
• Partner with key stakeholders to build and continuously improve business intelligence processes, tools, dashboards, metrics, and insights to provide the business with access to actionable data. Support operational and technical responsibilities that include data preparation, data warehousing, data flow, reporting integrity and accuracy, predictive analytics, data exploration, and socialization.
• Manage projects from end to end, including work plan creation, coordination with other functions in the organization, and support materials development and verbal communication/presentation of findings and recommendations.
Become a subject matter expert on store hours and lead the analysis, strategy, and execution support for optimizing store operating hours across the chain.
• Analyze sales trends, labor costs, and customer behavior to identify opportunities for profit-optimized schedules across stores.
• Lead cross-functional review cycles with field leadership, payroll, and internal teams to propose and implement operating hour changes aligned to store performance, risk profiles, and market potential.
• Create and present executive-level analyses and strategy decks, distilling complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership and field decision-makers.
• Build and maintain advanced reporting tools (e.g., Power BI dashboards, store scorecards) to measure the impact of store hour changes on comp sales, payroll usage, customer experience, and other operational metrics.
• Ensure data integrity and visibility across platforms, coordinating with Marketing and Operations to maintain accurate hours in internal systems and public listings (e.g., store locator, Google).
Become a subject matter expert on Ross' customer insight capabilities and drive development, and execution, of daily, weekly, and monthly customer insights processes and analyses.
• Become an expert on using and maintaining the various customer insights tools (particularly our receipt survey, which gathers customer feedback on their shopping experience). Own/maintain vendor relationships.
• Perform analyses to identify key operational areas that drive customer satisfaction. Develop recommendations for strategic payroll investments based on these insights.
• Develop processes to support adoption of customer feedback tools across field leadership and stores.
• Maintain recurring updates (e.g., monthly district/store alignment updates, new store additions) and work with 3rd party survey vendor to revise survey questions, as needed
• Design and complete other customer insights-focused ad hoc analyses as requested by Store Leadership and Senior Executives

A Day in the Life:
Step into the role of Business Intelligence Manager and become the catalyst for Monster Energy's sales and distribution triumphs. Your role is crucial in aligning our brand portfolio with the company's high-octane business objectives. Dive into regional business analytics, ensuring data precision and consistency that match our dynamic brand. With your attention to detail on monthly financials and sales reports, you'll pinpoint opportunities for amplifying efficiency with distributors, bottlers, and chains. The Impact You'll Make:
- Provide analysis and interpretation of internal/external international market data and highlight any underlying trends to identify new market opportunities and recommend strategies to increase the organization’s profitability. Prepare special reports for management as requested.
- Prepare detailed analysis of Nielsen and other 3rd party data for trends, insights, etc. Prepare the monthly volume summary by comparing sales by SKU, salesperson, and region against sales of the previous year and against budget.
- Monitor unit activities with respect to budgetary guidelines and controls and track competitive activity by region via data gathering and consolidation of results.
- Prepare comprehensive depletion/shipment/inventory analysis by country, by creating and updating internal templates and calendars to monitor, track and evaluate activity and decisions. Manage and generate sales forecasts with country management teams.
- Produce detailed analysis of each Monster and competitive SKU’s to determine trends and help with assessment of performance/recommendation for future opportunities.
- Review monthly financial and sales reports to determine opportunities for improvements based on efficiency and adjustments in consumer and customer demand, as well as brand/item performance and pricing. Review and evaluate pricing of all items sold by the Company based on analysis of competition, gross margin, and PTC’s (Price to Consumer).
- Review all P&L elements and offer pro-active measurements, ideas, and reactive solutions.
- Establish and implement best practices, including continuous improvement of a standardized process by using alternative views such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios where appropriate.
- Determine scorecards for each region on a per country/bottler basis. Monitor country objectives, project margins, and evaluate where the company/country can adjust pricing.
- Identify and propose new product technology or SKU’s opportunities and updates.
- Support all functional department heads and departments to maximize the output.
- Prefer a Bachelor's Degree in the field of -- Business Administration, Management, Finance, or related.
- The successful candidate must possess strong experience in utilizing Power BI for data visualization and analysis. This includes the ability to create insightful dashboards and reports that support strategic decision-making. The role requires adeptness in transforming complex data sets into easily understandable insights, contributing to the enhancement of business intelligence capabilities within the organization
- Additional Experience Desired: Between 3-5 years of experience in business analytics or business development.
- Additional Experience Desired: Between 3-5 years of experience in managing direct reports.
- Computer Skills Desired: Advanced user of Microsoft Office
- Preferred Certifications: Fluent in English
Monster Energy provides a competitive total compensation; this position has an annual estimated salary of $63,750-$85,000. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
