Job Description

The Data Visualization Specialist who has had experience as an employee or a contractor in a federal agency will assist the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client with the analysis and interpretation of datasets (financials, logistics/equipment, training). Using Tableau and/or Power BI, the specialist will create dashboards and reports, identifying trends that inform strategic business decisions.

Required Skills

  • Develop, interpret, and prepare recommendations regarding dashboards, procedures, and the organization’s data assessment, using commercially available data analysis tools and data visualization tools, including Tableau, Power BI, Excel, and Minitab.
  • Experience working with commercially available data analysis tools and data visualization tools, including Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, and SAS.
  • Solid understanding of the role of IT infrastructure, information systems, and data architecture in supporting data science and data management programs.
Job Duties
  • Design and develop dynamic dashboards/reports and interactive visualizations using various reporting components from multiple data sources.
  • Develop and design presentations, reports, and other deliverables to summarize findings for key stakeholders and executive leadership, communicating with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Familiarity with other related government-wide data activities and implementation best practices.
  • Attend meetings, provide stakeholder input as needed, and communicate the status of changes to team members and leadership.
Experience and Education Requirements
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Data Visualization Specialist.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or Graphic Design is required.
  • A Tableau Certified Data Analyst certificate or a Power BI Data Analyst certificate is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have previous experience as a contractor with or an employee of the federal government.
