Key requirements:

• Experience leading and managing large, complex enterprise-level projects consisting of multiple agile teams using Scrum/agile methodologies. Must have experience leading projects for business intelligence and data warehousing.

• Knowledge of both agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.

• Experience defining project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organizing and leading project status and working meetings; preparing and distributing progress reports; managing risks and issues; correcting deviations from plans; and performing delivery planning for assigned projects.

Database Administrators are responsible for establishing database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as: conceptual design, performance tuning, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specifications, data loading plan, data maintenance plan, and security policy.

Database Administrators (DBA) are responsible for the maintenance, performance and availability of database management systems. This includes standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as: performance tuning, capacity planning, cost optimization, high availability, disaster recovery, physical data model features (i.e. partitioning, indexing, etc.), database maintenance plan, and data security implementation.

The Data Warehousing DBA, is responsible for the upkeep of the Data Warehousing databases. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience working with Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, and/or related technologies. The candidate will have hands-on experience supporting critical databases including Cloud implementations. The DBA will be actively involved in the evaluation, review, and management of database resources and services across the organization. This role also will partner closely with Product Owners, Data Architects, Platform/DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers etc. to design, build, test, implement, and maintain database resources.

ROLE

  • Maintains database security, integrity, and availability.
  • Manages database performance and capacity.
  • Works with team members to establish routine maintenance; monitoring; alerting; metrics collection/logging to proactively identify database related issues, ensuring the database is highly responsive at all times
  • Reviews performance stats and recommends changes for SQL query tuning/optimization
  • Develops automation for repetitive tasks
  • Assumes ownership of database issues; pursues problem resolution and root cause analysis
  • Works with the Cloud vendors/providers to create a strategy for migrating/upgrading databases to minimize business impact
  • Stays current on the key facets of the applications that leverage the databases being supported.
  • Learns and stays current on the features and functionality of Google BigQuery and Azure Synapse
  • Develops a thorough knowledge and understanding of cross system interactions as well as an enterprise view of Costcos Data Warehousing landscape
  • Maintains detailed documentation.

Required

  • 5+ years of Data Warehousing experience with at least 2 years being on multiple platforms.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Google BigQuery and/or Azure Synapse
  • Strong understanding of Dimensional Modeling
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions
  • Understanding of networking principles
  • Participate in off hours 24/7 on call support on a rotational basis

Recommended

  • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) - Associate.
  • Professional Cloud Database Engineer Google Certification
  • Architectural level experience in information privacy, data compliance, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of Terraform and/or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodology
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
