This position is part of the Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health at the University of Georgia - Tifton Campus (Bugwood). The Center develops, maintains, and hosts a large number of digital tools and resources including web, smartphone, and database applications. The IT Database Professional is responsible for working with center staff, federal and state agencies, and other stakeholders to maintain and develop data Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) routines for data import and export. They will also serve a key role in creating data exports to summarize the data and deliver that information to data stores for other applications in compliance with data usage policies. Both the ETL and data summarization routines must run on schedule with little user interaction needed. Each should also include checks for Quality Control and Quality Assurance with notifications when potential issues are detected.
This is a grant funded position and the possibility of renewal of this position for subsequent years will depend on the availability of funds.

- Familiarity with AWS Services for Data warehousing including Glue, Athena, Data Pipeline, Data Exchange

- Develop Extract, Transform, and Load routines for data import and export. Data destinations and sources include AWS Athena, Microsoft SQL Server, Excel, CSV, TSV, JSON, Line-Delimited JSON, Parquet, Google Big Query, Geospatial databases and files, ArcGIS.

- Develop queries to summarize data for use in data reports and value added export. 4.1 Mandatory Contract Services Requirements and Deliverables: Contract Services must meet or exceed the mandatory requirements listed below.
4.1.1 Contract Services Deliverable# 1- Professional Database Engineer: The Vendor must provide a Professional Database Engineer to provide design, implementation, and maintenance of complex SQL Server based infrastructure and database solutions, along with training and knowledge transfer to current employees working for the Office of Technology in Enterprise Solution Services. The Database Engineer provided will be additionally, or more specifically, responsible for the following:
4.1.1.1 Design and implementation of multiple highly available, and scalable, single and multi-tenant SQL Server environments, with a preference for SQL Server 2019 or newer.
4.1.1.2 Facilitating migration of existing databases or instances from legacy infrastructure into newly established virtual environments.
4.1.1.3 Developing procedures, documentation, training, and execution of knowledge transfer to at least two other WVOT staff for all developed and maintained systems within the WVOT hosted SQL Server, OnBase, and Dynamics environments.
4.1.1.4 Providing analytics regarding system health, growth capacity, and other metrics of benefit to WVOT and our customers.
4.1.1.S Analysis of complex queries and execution plans for the determination of need regarding the maintenance of indices to provide optimal performance for various use-cases, whether by creation, alteration, or deletion.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $204,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
