Timescale is hiring a
Database Support Engineer
for our growing global team The right candidates will be comfortable providing deep technical support and interacting with customers daily. You should have deep experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL is a strong plus) and must be able to gain a detailed understanding of TimescaleDB quickly. You should have a "can do it" attitude, where helping the user comes first.

Timescale is a remote-first company. This is a 100% remote, full-time position with priority towards the US East Coast, open to either Central or Eastern Standard Timezone (PST).
This is a permanent weekday role with 5-day, 8-hour, Monday - Friday shifts.
What You Will Do:

  • Work with our customers across a wide range of topics, from basic administration of TimescaleDB to deep consultative conversations around design, optimization, and implementation
  • Manage support cases from beginning to end.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with our customers to help them be successful.
  • Be curious, always willing to learn, and always looking for ways to improve our products, processes, and culture.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Relational DB experience at scale: administration, data modeling, query optimization
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL a strong plus)
  • Experience as a technical support professional with external customers.
  • Strong aptitude to understand and learn new software products.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to express patience and empathy when troubleshooting complex technical concepts to a varied audience.

Other Things that Will Help:

  • Be familiar with TimescaleDB You should download and test it out before you interview:

  • Familiarity with broad cloud computing concepts and experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure.

  • Experience with Relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including best practices, Query Plan analysis, backup/restore, migrations, etc
  • A strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to wade into the unknown and learn as you go.

+ Support the planning and develop strategies to migrate databases to the Autonomous Database, ensuring a seamless transition for optimal performance.
+ Work collaboratively with multiple teams, actively participating in the execution of roadmap projects.
Additionally, you will be part of the OHAI roadmap projects, such as migrating the Database to Oracle Cloud and Autonomous Databases
**Responsibilities**
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ At least 6+ years of experience as Oracle DBA, Site Reliability Engineer, or Oracle Database Architect.
+ 6+ years of experience managing scalable, on-prim and cloud native distributed systems.
+ Bachelor's degree/master's degree (Information Technology/Mathematics/Computer Science/Computer Software/Electronics/Operational Research/Computer System Engineering).
+ Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
+ Strong grasp of Computer Science concepts
+ Knowledge in PL/SQL, Python, Perl and/or Shell Scripting
+ Managing production databases running on Exadata.
+ Deep understanding of the Oracle Database
+ Oracle Grid Infrastructure, ASM & RAC
+ PL/SQL and or shell or perl scripting
**Preferred Qualifications** **:**
+ Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture & Exadata.
+ High availability & replication technologies (Data guard, Goldengate)
+ Advanced scripting/coding skills (Shell, Perl, and Python)

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,100 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
