PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Our accredited Nurse Residency Program will bring opportunities for growth and development within Baystate Medical Center during your first ten months of clinical nursing. This program provides continued education for any nurse with less than one year of experience. The Nurse Residency Program will provide a diverse and engaging curriculum, a comprehensive unit-based orientation, and professional pathways exclusively available to nurse residents with an overarching goal of expanding professional development within the nursing lens.

The program is imbedded with layers of support at the unit, program, organization, and system levels to help develop successful, competent, and valued nurses. * D5A and NIU Neurosciences are a 37 bed neuro-acute and 9 bed neuro-intercare department within a 4-time Magnet designated organization.
* We provide comprehensive care for complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, brain injuries, spinal injuries, spinal surgeries, and brain and spinal tumors.

Responsibilities

1. Provides assistance with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, transferring/ambulation and continence.
2. Assists with Senior/client admissions, discharges, transfers and orientation of new employees.
3. Follows department protocol for submission of completed documentation.
4. Prioritizes assignments, making adjustments throughout shift to meet frequently changing/ overlapping Senior/client/caregiver/TEAMember/manager needs, call lights, when necessary.
5. Performs work duties within the assigned work environment related to the position, as assigned by Tabitha, regardless of TEAMember preference.
6. Follows through on the comprehensive care plan/service plan as developed for each individual Senior/client.
7. Complies with HIPAA regulations regarding privacy by insuring that Protected Health Information (PHI) is safeguarded at all times.
8. Additional essential functions if working in a Residential Style Living Community:
   • Prepares breakfast, snacks and other foods requested by/for Senior/client.
   • Processes Senior/client laundry
   • Evaluates emergency situations, performing CPR when necessary, based on training.
9. Additional essential functions if utilizing MA40 :
   • Prepares and administers medications and treatments, under the direction of the RN, within scope of practice as ordered by the physician and according to facility policies/procedures.

Qualifications

COMMUNICATION : Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including medical terminology related to the job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability of 50 - pounds, demonstrating strength and agility at Tabitha's discretion.

AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 6 months experience as an aide or caregiver preferred.

CREDENTIALS:

• CNA Certification in good standing as demonstrated by inclusion on the Nebraska State Registry, required.
• If a CNA in the Tabitha Residences: CPR required.
• If a Med Aide: Med Aide Certification in good standing as demonstrated by inclusion on the Nebraska State Registry required. CPR required.
• All certifications must be kept up to date at the expense of the employee.
• Must meet Tabitha's vaccination requirements.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $62,218.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

* Prioritize and organize the daily care of patients.
* Make patient care assignments and assist in developing treatment plans in collaboration with other clinical staff.
* Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of the patients' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge.
* Direct support staff to coordinate the workflow on the unit and communicate problems to unit supervisors.
* Administer medications and treatments according to facility's policies and procedures.
* Develop and implement nursing care plans for nursing diagnosis or treatment plan changes.
* Complete medication administration supervision monitors and clinical observation notes for support staff.
* Completes required documentation of nursing notes, transfer forms and other records.
* Educate patients and family members regarding medication, procedures and treatment goals and objectives.
* Repond and intervene to emergency situations and agitated patients.
* Provide orientation and support to staff to the unit.
* Responsible for ensuring the proper safety and infection control standards are met for the unit.
* Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

* Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college.

* Must hold and maintain a CPR certification.
* Must stay current with behavioral intervention training.
* Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn other programs used in maintaining electronic medical records.
* Good interpersonal skills, good verbal, and written communication skills.
* Ability to understand and apply medical and facility terminology.
* Ability to use MS Office applications and electronic patient records.
* Ability to serve as a patient advocate.
* Knowledge of and the ability to interpret nursing and facility policies and procedures.
* Additional knowledge and/or ability may be required based on the population the facility serves such as: children, adolescents, geriatrics, etc.
* Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Location:Jefferson County Jail

Open Position:FT LPN Licensed Practical Nurse

Schedule:32 hrs per week - Day Shift Rotation w/Alternating Weekends

Sign-on & Retention Bonus

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Deliver patient care, evaluate symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients, chart results, establish nursing plans and work under the boundaries of State Scope of Practice and Guidelines, and Physician/Provider(s)
• Administer prescribed medications in accordance with nursing standards & correctional regulations
• Follow through with established treatment plans
• Perform emergency intervention, physical assessment and critical thinking
