Job Summary:

The Deli Manager oversees the daily operations of the deli department, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, and sanitation. This role is responsible for supervising staff, managing inventory, controlling costs, and driving sales through effective merchandising and customer engagement.

We are open 7 days a week, 9am to 6pm, including all holidays except Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving. We are looking for a full-time deli manager (about 40-45 hours per week is typically what our managers are scheduled for). Shifts are either 8am-2pm/3pm (morning), 1pm-7pm (afternoon), or 8am-7pm (all day). All of our managers typically work 2 all day shifts per week, one of which is on the weekends, in order to hit their hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate deli staff to ensure efficient operations and excellent customer service.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, freshness, and presentation.
• Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines are strictly followed.
• Manage inventory levels and order deli products to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
• Plan and execute attractive deli displays and promotions.
• Monitor sales trends and implement strategies to improve department performance.
• Ensure proper labeling, rotation, and storage of all deli products.
• Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and promptly.
• Track and report on department expenses, shrink, and labor.
• Ensure all deli equipment is cleaned, maintained, and functioning properly.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary or food service education is a plus.
• 2+ years of deli, food service, or grocery store experience; 1+ year in a supervisory or management role preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math and computer skills (e.g., POS systems, inventory tracking).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and walking in cold/hot environments.

Description:

The Cheese & Deli Assistant Manager supports the operational success of the Cheese & Deli department at Plum Market. This role assists with purchasing, inventory control, production, team supervision, and merchandising to ensure the department is well-stocked, visually appealing, and delivers outstanding retail Customer Service. Working closely with the department Manager, this position plays a key role in meeting margin goals, maintaining high standards, and ensuring smooth daily operations. The Assistant Manager helps lead by example, supporting team development and stepping into leadership when the department Manager is absent.

Take ownership of department organization and product quality throughout the shift.

Service Deli Assistant Managers are responsible for ensuring that team members provide exceptional guest service, while achieving sales and profit margin goals. Effective Assistant Managers maximize productivity and profitability by balancing sales and expenses, identifying sales opportunities and setting guest service standards. They must demonstrate knowledge of the department's purpose and goals and have the skills to help team members achieve those goals.

# Have strong working knowledge of deli department equipment with ability to teach team and others all fundamental operations of equipment (mixing, scaling, cooking, frying, slicing, finishing, etc.).

**Job Summary**
TravelCenters of America offers a convenient, one-stop shopping experience to our customers. We carry a wide selection of name-brand products, and are stocked with Grab 'N Go foods, groceries, snacks, electronics, maintenance supplies, and even clothing and gifts! The Deli Clerk is key member of the team primarily responsible for assisting guests at the deli counter by recommending foods, cutting meats and cheeses, and more. The Deli Clerk provides excellent customer service so that we are returning every traveler to the road better than they came!
**In this role, you can expect to:**
+ Work in a fun, trusting environment focused on great customer service
+ Serve each customer courteously, quickly and efficiently with a sincere, positive, pleasant and enthusiastic attitude
+ Slice meats and cheeses, take inventory of products on display and promote the products available in their deli department.
+ Process transactions of customers on a point-of-sale (POS) register
+ Clean and prepare workstations; Know and follow safety guidelines and report potentially unsafe situations caused by team members and customers
+ Update displays, cases and other customer-facing areas to ensure new items and promotions are showcased
+ Establish strong communication and rapport with leaders and co-workers
+ Perform other job-related duties as assigned
