What Does a Hygienist at UDA Look Like?

What Skills and Experience Does a Successful UDA Hygienist Have?

• Current state license to practice dental hygiene
• The confidence and ability to educate patients on their unique oral health needs and desires
• Strong communication skills
• A desire to embrace preventative centered care
• The ability to perform all hygiene clinical procedures, including (but not limited to) adult and child prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, sealants, and fluoride

Hygienists are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control trainings as required by law.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional oral hygiene services, including thorough prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, polishing restorations, and applying cavity-preventive agents.
• Maintain and update patient dental histories, record treatment details, and handle patient records securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist the dentist as required.
• Administer local anesthetics when permitted by the dental practice act.

Requirements:

• Completion of a degree or certificate in dental hygiene from an accredited program and a valid state license.
• Current CPR/BLS Certification.
• Effective time management skills.
• Strong verbal communication abilities to interact professionally with patients and staff.
• Preference for candidates who can travel between locations.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• Current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in good standing
• CPR (BLS) certification from the ARC or AHA, including hands-on skill assessment (required upon hire)
