We are looking for a skilled Application Packaging and Deployments Specialist with a strong focus on utilizing the PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT) to enhance and automate application packaging and deployment processes within a Windows environment. This role will involve integration with tools such as SCCM/MECM or Intune to ensure efficient software delivery across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Packaging and Automation:

  • Package and automate company application installations using PSADT and other relevant packaging tools (e.g., Flexera AdminStudio, InstallShield).
  • Create custom software installation packages tailored to meet specific organizational needs.
  • Ensure applications and plug-ins are deployable unattended to Windows workstations, including managing silent installations and progress tracking.

Deployment Management:

  • Create, stage, and deploy packages using SCCM/MECM or other deployment solutions.
  • Execute phased application deployments through testing, pilot, and production phases.
  • Manage the software center and resolve application deployment failures effectively.
  • Deploy changes to both production and non-production environments, collaborating closely with development, testing, and support teams.
  • Act as a gatekeeper for all in-scope environments, ensuring adherence to proper release procedures.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Troubleshoot Configuration Manager issues related to application deployment, content distribution, and client devices.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for deployed applications and underlying infrastructure.
  • Analyze log files to diagnose and resolve installation errors.

Process Improvement and Documentation:

  • Recommend process improvements and train new resources on build, release, and change management procedures.
  • Document deployment processes and procedures, including standard operating procedures and best practices.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful software delivery while minimizing disruptions.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their system requirements and ensure successful implementation.
  • Participate in technical project discussions and contribute to release planning efforts.

This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with the expectation of 3 days per week in our downtown Chicago office, and 2 days remote from home.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience) 

  • 5+ years of experience preferred with packaging applications.
  • Experience with SCCM/MECM and application deployment practices.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, including experience with PSADT.
  • Proven experience in application packaging and deployment activities.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a focus on working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience with Windows Installer (MSI) packages.
  • Knowledge of User Account Control (UAC) and its implications for application installations.
  • Familiarity with Windows Services and Windows Control Center.

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a highly skilled Application Packaging and Deployment Specialist to lead and advance the way that software is deployed across the organization. This role will be responsible for managing the application deployment process from packaging, validation and troubleshooting, through communication plans and phased deployments, to patching, upgrades and deprecation. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level knowledge in PowerShell scripting and will play a leading role in advancing VHB's application management strategies by modernizing our software catalog and supporting new application control initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
    Lead, manage, and support enterprise-wide software packaging and deployment
  • Support and advance VHB's utilization of the PowerShell App Deploy Toolkit (PSADT) for consistent and standardized deployment experiences for end users
  • Champion the migration of VHB's software catalog from ConfigMgr to Microsoft Intune, ensuring efficient deployment and seamless end-user experiences
  • Administer and maintain VHB's current application patching solution
  • Collaborate with application SMEs and IT leadership to design and execute a consistent, transparent, and reliable software deployment strategy across an extensive application catalog
  • Create and communicate deployment schedules, instructions, and best practices to technical and non-technical staff

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of design applications experience
  • AS/BS in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • Must be legally authorized to work for VHB in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
  • Proven experience in managing software deployments in an enterprise environment, primarily using PowerShell App Deploy Toolkit (PSADT).
  • Advanced proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation, application management, and software configuration, especially as needed when working with vendor-provided installers that are poorly implemented or have limited customization options.
  • In-depth knowledge of ConfigMgr (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, Windows application install technologies, and Windows OS components related to application installation and configuration
  • Familiarity with industry standard design tools by Autodesk, Bentley, ESRI, and other civil engineering software platforms
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional coordination
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with zero-trust principles and their application in endpoint hardening and configuration
  • Familiarity with hybrid-joined and Entra-joined endpoint trust scenarios

Deployment Technician

Businesses and consumers continue to demand increasing data services at an exponential rate-streaming, deep learning, analytics, IoT connectivity, and more. These applications require higher-performing CPUs, components, servers, and data centers, all generating significant heat that traditional cooling systems struggle to manage.

Accelsius is developing revolutionary direct-to-chip, 2-phase cooling technologies that enable Server OEMs, Data Centers, Edge Computing Operators, and 5G deployments to achieve performance, sustainability, scale, and cost goals while serving this high-growth market for data services.

The Deployment Technician will play a hands-on role in supporting the installation, deployment, and maintenance of Accelsius systems both in the field and in our Austin headquarters. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals who are eager to grow their technical skills, enjoy problem-solving, and are comfortable working in both lab and customer environments.

This position requires frequent travel, including international assignments that may extend for weeks at a time. When not traveling, the Deployment Technician will support lab and build activities at the Austin facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the deployment and commissioning of Accelsius systems at customer sites, including international locations.
  • Support system installation, troubleshooting, and field maintenance under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform mechanical and electronic assembly , including handling cooling components, sensors, and rack-level system builds.
  • Assist with the preparation of work instructions, procedures, and deployment documentation.
  • Provide hands-on lab support in Austin for builds, prototype assembly, and integration projects.
  • Maintain strong attention to safety, quality, and documentation standards in both lab and field settings.
  • Represent Accelsius with professionalism and deliver excellent customer support in the field.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in both lab processes and deployment methods.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • 0-2 years of relevant industry, lab, or field service experience (mechanical, electrical, or HVAC-related preferred).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field is a plus, but not required.
Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical or electronic assembly.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Familiarity with heating/cooling systems, fluid dynamics, or HVAC concepts preferred.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems.
Other Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including international assignments and extended stays.
  • Strong attention to detail, curiosity, and problem-solving ability.
  • Positive, collaborative, and adaptable mindset in both lab and customer environments.
  • Refrigeration certification (EPA 608 or equivalent) preferred but not required .

Our client is seeking a Deployment Technician responsible for configuring and updating software at an off-site location. The primary goal is to evaluate and decide on device upgrades or swaps, contributing significantly to the deployment team.

-Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) according to specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails.
-Performs post-execution quality checks and verifies that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
-Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifies the cause(s) of issues, and replaces faulty components
-Decommissions hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance
-Follows procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads
Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Required: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
