Our Cloud Ops Application Engineering Team is the team of technical experts that runs and manages application operations for the company's clients. Responsibilities :
- Report to the Director of Cloud Operations and work within the Cloud Operations Team to plan, build, run, and monitor the deployments of all our applications.

- Identify areas of improvement where automation would help streamline processes.
- This role will have occasions where off-hours work (including weekends) will be required, in order to perform upgrades in production environments.

Requirements/Qualifications :
- 1 - 3 Years of experience
- Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in Computer Science, MIS or related disciplines or equivalent work experience
- Experience training or acting in a deployment or solutions engineer, and/or system/platform engineer, technical application support, or experience in a system administration role
- Interest in deployment and automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and experience working with major public cloud providers including Azure, Amazon WebServices, and RackSpace.
- An Engineering mindset - focused on designing, implementing and improving processes and technology
- Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with major J2EE middleware tier software offerings such as;
- WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss
- Strong Linux skills. To be successful, you must be comfortable on a Linux server and able to easily navigate around a server
- Familiarity with PL/SQL and T-SQL and related relational database technologies.
- Ability and desire to learn new technologies and apply new skills.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to play a vital role in high visibility assignments. The ability to communicate directly with senior management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and communicate to project teams.

Basic Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or other related engineering degrees as well as 5 years Controls related experience; or Associates degree and 7 years of Controls related experience; or High School diploma with 10 years of Controls related experience

+ Design, configure and manage OpenShift clusters, including version upgrades, patching and scaling.
+ Deploy, scale, and manage containerized applications on OpenShift using tools like CLI (oc) and OpenShift Console.
+ Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments, often integrating with tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
+ Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions (e.g Prometheus, Grafana) for both Azure/GCP and OpenShift, ensuring high availability and system reliability.
+ Identify, diagnose and resolve complex issues related to the OpenShift platform and containerized applications.
+ Implement security best practices, user access control (RBAC), and security policies within the OpenShift environment.
+ Develop and maintain IaC using tools like Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of GCP resources.
+ Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure applications are designed for scalability and adhere to best practices.
+ Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and runbooks.
+ Manage the lifecycle of control plane and worker nodes, including upgrades and certificate management.
**What you'll need to succeed (required skills):**
+ Bachelors degree in computer science information technology or a related field.
+ Possess extensive experience in designing and managing Azure and OpenShift environments.
+ Have a solid understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.

**Salary and Other Compensation:**
The salary range for this role is between $77,000 and $91,000 depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. **Applicants must be physically located in the US and have valid US work authorization** . We are unable to offer visa sponsorship. Applications will be accepted till Oct 2nd 2025.
This position is eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
