Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Deployment Manager to join a federal government contract located in Washington, DC. The Deployment Manager will be responsible for managing a cross-functional and highly dynamic team of Deployment Engineers. The Deployment Manager will be tasked with ensuring government SLAs and KPIs are met and all user requests are completed according to federal government regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • The Contractor Deployment Manager shall work with the Government Deployment Manager during coordination of large office moves, opening of new facilities, relocations and refresh activities. Manage and coordinate urgent and complicated support issues.
  • Shall be willing to travel and have strong project management and supervisory skills.
  • The Deployment Manager shall manage the Contractor deployment IT staff and review/evaluate their work.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for deployment activities and be responsible for implementing deployment plans.
  • In addition, he/she shall ensure task order deployment staff attend weekly OIT Facilities calls, ROC calls, deployment calls, release management calls and ASC calls to ensure IT requirements are provided for these moves, openings and relocations

This Deployment Manager reports to the Director of Indirect Strategic Sourcing focused on implementing change management projects across indirect manufacturing and corporate/office products and services. We are looking for an experienced, energetic and motivated Regional Deployment Technician/Manager in the Detroit area to join our Land Border Integration team supporting a DHS program. As a Deployment Manager working for SAIC, you will have a fast-moving, challenging, and highly rewarding position installing IT infrastructure on our nation's Northern and Southern borders to support Customs and Border Protection.
This position requires the employee to travel at least 50 **%** of the time to either the Southern or Northern US borders. It is preferred for the employee to live within one hour of a major International Airport to ease travel requirements.
**Travel Requirements:**
+ Travel to US Customs Ports of Entry and Border Patrol locations in the Detroit region.
+ Daily area coverage could include sites up to 150 miles from home base.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Provide general systems and logistics support to Government
+ Review and provide input to the logistics planning function
+ Support functions of personnel (government, civilian, military, and contractor) travel for official government business
+ Notify in-country representatives of expected travel, attain country clearances and assist travelers with fulfilling screening requirements and attaining travel advisories
+ Ensure compliance with all regulations and obtain the necessary approvals

+ Data entry of travel information into designated repository to maintain program level deployment records

Qualifications Required:
+ Associate's degree (or equivalent) with a thorough understanding of logistics associated with personnel deployments
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience
+ TS/SCI with Polygraph

Summary/Objective

The Deployment Manager (DM) will oversee the execution of distributed energy projects from planning through field deployment, ensuring high-quality standards, compliance with client requirements, and efficient resource use. This role requires a strong background in field operations, project coordination, and team leadership. The DM bridges corporate leadership and field operations, driving operational excellence, accountability, and successful project delivery.

Essential Functions

Project Deployment & Coordination

  • Lead the deployment of distributed energy projects across assigned regions.

  • Oversee scheduling of technicians and site project visits.

  • Coordinate site and field testing, ensuring compliance with technical standards.

  • Manage Statements of Work (SOW) execution and ensure deliverables are met.

Field Operations Management

  • Conduct regular field quality control checks and employee site visits.

  • Manage and track use of PPE, equipment, and meter recertifications.

  • Monitor tracker systems and ensure accurate reporting of project progress.

  • Support field supervisors in day-to-day project oversight.

People Leadership & Development

  • Interview, hire, and train new field employees.

  • Provide ongoing training on new projects, tools, and processes.

  • Mentor field staff, working closely with leadership (e.g., Lelon and Martin) to ensure consistent team development.

Administrative & Compliance Oversight

  • Approve payroll, time off requests, and employee expenses.

  • Track expiration and recertification dates for field safety and compliance requirements.

  • Ensure adherence to corporate safety policies and quality standards.

Management Responsibility

This position will oversee field staff, including supervisors, technicians, and other project-based team members. Responsible for training, performance management, and professional development of direct and indirect reports.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried position. Hours will vary based on project schedules, field activities, and client requirements. Flexibility is required to meet business and operational needs.

Travel

This role requires regular travel within the Carolinas or Texas region, up to 50%, to support project deployment, field oversight, and client site visits.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project deployment, field operations, or related roles within the utility, energy, or construction industry.

  • Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor field staff.

  • Strong knowledge of field quality control processes and testing protocols.
    Experience managing PPE, safety, and compliance tracking systems.

  • Prior experience in distributed energy projects or utility field services.

  • Must have 2+ years of experieince with with BMS/HVAC systems
  • Ability to analyze & understand control system drawings and schematics
  • An in-depth knowledge of electrical circuits to calculate load, voltage drop and safety hazard
  • Leadership skills including employee mentoring and development
  • Proficient electrical circuit troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of data center efficiency metrics
  • Ability to forecast staffing needs for assigned project based on task and deadline
  • The ability to troubleshoot communications protocols. IE. Modbus 485 & IP, BACnet MSTP & IP
  • Good inventory management skills
  • Basic understanding of the change order process
  • Knowledge of building code as it applies to BMS install
  • Understanding of networking concepts and cable types
  • Strong Schneider building controls product knowledge
  • Understanding of commissioning principles
