The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine is offering a Clinical Faculty position in the Department of Dermatology, at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. Rank is commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions

• Perform pathological evaluations at an on-site laboratory, providing high-quality insightful and comprehensive diagnoses to guide clinicians in patient treatment plans.
• Participate in quality assurance programs, serving as a case reviewer and contributing to intradepartmental conferences to ensure diagnostic accuracy and improve care quality. Consult with peer pathologists on cases as requested or needed.
• General Dermatology patient care responsibilities including, but not limited to, Outpatient Clinic, Inpatient hospital service and consults, and in-office procedures.
• Contributing to the clinical/patient care, research and teaching missions of the Department and College by supporting the University’s mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
• Clinical duties including responsibilities for treating patients while accompanied by learners such as our students, residents and fellows.
• Encompassing an active role in departmental fellowship programs resident teaching (e.g. evaluating curriculum and instruction to residents, and completing required evaluations), and presentations at the local, regional and national levels.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Ohio State Medical License.
• MD / DO or an equivalent degree.
• Completion of an accredited Dermatology Residency and be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Dermatology.
• The candidate also must have completed an accredited fellowship program in Dermatopathology and be board certified or board eligible in Dermatopathology.

Additional Qualifications Considered

• Record of academic excellence and relevant clinical experience in Dermatology and Dermatopathology.

• Experience with diagnostic techniques for plant pathogens.
• Strong understanding of epidemiology and disease modeling.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, suitable for remote client interaction.
• Proficiency in data analysis and relevant scientific software.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote capacity.
• Experience with remote sensing and GIS is a plus.

• Diagnose plant diseases in various crops through laboratory analysis (microscopy, molecular techniques) and field surveys.
• Develop and refine diagnostic protocols for identifying known and emerging plant pathogens.
• Conduct research on the epidemiology, life cycles, and environmental factors influencing plant diseases.
• Develop and recommend integrated disease management (IDM) strategies, including cultural practices, biological controls, and chemical applications.
• Evaluate the efficacy of new fungicides and disease control agents through field trials.
• Provide expert advice and technical support to growers, extension agents, and agricultural consultants on disease identification and management.
• Contribute to the development of predictive models for disease outbreaks based on environmental data.
• Author scientific publications, technical reports, and extension materials for diverse audiences.
• Stay updated on the latest research findings, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in plant pathology.
• Manage field research trials, including experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis.

• Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Mycology, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in plant pathology research and extension, with a strong focus on crop diseases.
• Proven expertise in diagnosing a wide range of plant diseases affecting major agricultural crops.
• Experience with molecular diagnostic techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, ELISA) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of epidemiology, disease forecasting, and integrated pest management principles.
• Proficiency in experimental design and statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, JMP).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information effectively.
