QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:
- Proven experience in industrial design, preferably in the firearms, consumer products, or similar industries.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software, with experience in Siemens NX or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of ergonomics and human-centered design principles, with experience in developing user-friendly products.
- Experience with material selection, manufacturing processes, and production methods relevant to firearms and accessories.
- Strong aesthetic and styling skills, with the ability to translate concepts into functional, visually appealing designs.
- Hands-on experience with prototype development and rapid prototyping tools.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturability and cost-effective production techniques.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, production, etc.).
- Ability to conduct user testing and iterate designs based on feedback, ensuring high-quality, user-centric product outcomes.
EXPERIENCE EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Design or equivalent directly related experience.
- 5+ years of practical work experience in product design, including internships or co-op positions in a design role.
- Strong creative and technical skills with a proven ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, and user experience in product design.
- Interest in and knowledge of firearms (pistols, modern sporting rifles, shotguns) and familiarity with popular products and their use in training/competition environments.
- CAD proficiency required, with expertise in advanced freeform surfacing and integrating surfacing with solid models.
- Sketching ability is a plus, with the capacity to visually communicate design ideas effectively.

**Job Description**
Olsson is seeking a talented and experienced Design Technician to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. We provide multidisciplinary design services for mixed-use, commercial, and residential land development projects, along with industrial, sports, schools, and other site development types.
As an Associate Technician, you will use CAD software for complex engineering design, attend client meetings, and prepare project cost estimates. In this role, you will also be responsible for preparing engineering and survey drawings from rough sketches and general design information. You will be expected to follow established standards and procedures and rely on your experience and judgment to perform your duties effectively.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with other team members to produce high-quality engineering designs for site design projects.
+ Performs engineering support tasks such as gathering data, updating and maintaining computer files, preparing copies of drawings, and documenting design changes.
+ Use CAD software to design and layout complex engineering drawings.
+ Prepare engineering and survey drawings from rough sketches and general design information.
+ Travel to job sites for observation and perform fieldwork in all types of terrain and weather conditions.
