Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering team in Chicago, Illinois, US . This role is central to the design, development, and testing of cutting-edge electronic hardware systems. The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will play a key role in taking products from concept through to production, ensuring high quality, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities include conceptualizing and designing complex analog and digital circuits, selecting appropriate components, and creating detailed schematics and PCB layouts. You will be responsible for conducting thorough design reviews, performing simulations, and leading hands-on prototype development and testing. This includes troubleshooting and debugging hardware issues, developing test plans, and validating designs against specifications. Collaboration with firmware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams is essential to ensure seamless integration of hardware components into the overall product. You will also contribute to defining system architecture, working with manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM), and supporting product release into production.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a Master's degree being highly desirable. A minimum of 6-8 years of professional experience in hardware design, with a strong emphasis on both analog and digital circuit design, is required. Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro) is essential. Experience with various microcontrollers, FPGAs, power management circuits, and high-speed digital interfaces is expected. Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) principles is crucial. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are necessary. Experience with embedded systems and C/C++ for firmware debugging is a plus.
