SmithGroup is looking for aHealth Design Director, Interior Designto join our team. This role can be located in any one of SmithGroup's offices. The Health Design Director, Interior Design has a nationally significant design portfolio of built work in healthcare and partners with the Market Directors and Regional Directors to develop and implement market strategies. The individual selected provides the leadership and vision necessary to elevate design quality, promote a just, design-centric culture, and create a diverse pipeline of future design leaders. Key functions of this role: Working with Market Directors and Regional Directors, establish and achieve market goals at the local, regional, and national levels. In collaboration with Market Directors, Regional Directors, Business Development Directors, and Studio Leaders, identify, pursue, win, and lead projects. Supervise and coach Studio Design Leaders; define career paths for future design leaders, mentor design staff across the firm, and participate in performance coaching. Additionally, you will: Work with Market Directors and Regional Directors to consistently elevate design quality and align design values across the firm. Lead initiatives that support a firmwide culture of design excellence including critiques, thought leadership, design week, portfolio reviews, SG Design Awards, achievement recognition, and talent development. Serve as Project Designer to continue building portfolio and to model SmithGroup's design philosophy. Serve in a project leadership role on key projects within a studio and region and ensure projects are assigned qualified design leaders. Review market and firmwide portfolio annually to evaluate consistency and gaps in design excellence. Drive overall design-related public relations initiatives with marketing, representing the firm in media outputs, award programs, and design presentations at national events and outside associations. Participate in business development activities, project pursuits, and client interviews across geographies and markets. Play an active role in the recruitment and interview process of prospective senior designers across the firm. Actively participate in national initiatives, Board of Directors, committees, etc. An ideal candidate has: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design. Professional licensure or certification, required. Sustainability credentials required. Minimum 15 years of professional experience. Original design work that has been built and recognized as design excellence by external professional organizations, publications, and other organizations. A sophisticated knowledge and proven commitment to sustainability and design justice as drivers of our design process and a measure of our design quality. Advanced understanding of the competitive landscape of design in their market, client concerns, industry trends, and emerging issues. A proven record as a resourceful and strategic problem solver, committed to integrated thinking and holistic sustainability. A creative and entrepreneurial spirit to embrace cultural trends, future technologies, production and presentation software, and other tools of our trade. Effective communication and presentation skills to build positive relationships and trust with clients, team members, and direct reports. A strong record of coaching and developing future design talent. Proven ability to lead an integrated design process including architects, interior designers, engineers, planners, and site designers. • Create and maintain all forms of product documentation with minimal direction: 3D models for components & assemblies, 2D component & manufacturing assembly drawings, Technical product datasheets, and Customer Instruction manuals
• Fully utilize advanced CAD system capabilities to create and revise concepts & designs based on market and customer specific requirements with minimal direction, reverse engineer customer equipment or commercially available components
• Perform tolerance analysis and includes accurate standard and geometric tolerances on all detail drawings; Assists others with these tasks as needed
• Identify opportunities for efficiency & optimize designs
• Ensure compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications

• Demonstrated success optimizing designs for additive manufacturing

• Gather necessary design requirements and specifications from internal and external customers, and record using the technical assumptions, requirements and specifications (TARS) process.
• Execute the Component Engineering deliverables (e.g. concepts, CAD models, drawings, engineering analysis, engineering documents, etc.) at the direction of the project lead engineer; ensure assignments are completed on-time and meet or exceed internal and external customer performance expectations.
• Utilize the Change Engine database to create engineering change notices and document progress toward issue resolution and closure.

• Benchmarking competitor technology specifically related to electrical distribution centers, connectors, and terminals.
• Provide CAD and Engineering support to fellow associates in the Component Engineering group as required to manage workload peaks.

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in related field.
• Minimum of 3 years automotive experience in product design, manufacturing or quality with strong understanding of automotive components.
• Two to three years experience with injection molded and/or stamped component design, including the application of GD&T and tolerance stack up calculations.
• Minimum (3) years of working experience with either Pro/Engineer, Catia, NX or other similar 3D CAD software.

DUTIES:

Lead cross functional workgroups to understand test requirements and develop comprehensive test plans. Develop and maintain test scripts using Python for testing Flash Programming and Comms EIO. Execute test scripts and analyze test results to identify defects, performance issues, and areas for improvement. Manage the team backlog and define priority for implementation. Collaborate with cross functional workgroups to ensure test environment is properly setup. Work closely with software developers and system engineers to ensure test coverage and validate system functionality. Participate in test automation framework development and enhancement activities. Collaborate with the team to continuously improve test processes, methodologies, and tools. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in test automation and contribute to the adoption of new technologies and techniques. 3 days on-site; 2 days work from home.
