Summary

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all tools within the plant and the completion of work orders and preventative maintenance orders as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing steam molds, trim dies, water bucks, end of arm tools, and fixtures
• Completion of work orders and preventative maintenance orders

• Troubleshooting problems and determining proper resolution with minimum process interruption
• Assist in providing and maintaining a safe workplace
• Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance
• Ability to read blue prints and CAD drawings
• Tool setting, welding, cutting, and fitting experience
• Ability to use shop equipment: such as belt sander, bench grinder, hand grinder, pencil grinder, die grinders, band saw, horizontal saw, metal brake, drill press, mill, lathe, surface grinder, crane, forklift, heat treat oven, etc.
• Experience in oxygen acetylene torch, TIG, MIG, Arc welding
• Ability to research parts, drawings, diagrams
• Ability to fabricate and machine parts with and without prints
• Ability to replace die and mold components and adjust as needed
• Ability to weld and grind die and mold components with surface grinder
• Ability to weld and grind die and mold components with hand grinders and pencil grinder
• Ability to adjust cutting clearances
• Ensures PM activities are completed as scheduled

• High school diploma

**Die Maintenance Technician**
+ Repair dies using manual and CNC machines.
+ Perform MIG and TIG welding.
+ Troubleshoot and repair 500-ton dies in a stamping environment.
+ Build tools as per work instructions and prints.
+ Conduct tool and die repairs on progressive and transfer dies.
+ Troubleshoot dies from machines and on the bench.

The Die Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the direct workforce along with maintenance, Die tryout and repair of major stamping dies including sub assembly, progressive and/or blanking dies. The Die Maintenance Supervisor will supervise UAW skilled trade employees and assist in team building. The role will manage collaborative working relationships with all levels of management and union, resolve problems using root cause analysis and plan and prioritize work to support efficient manufacturing initiatives.

Basic Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering preferred) or Journeyman status Die Maker or 8 years die experience in a stamping environment, with die construction, tryout and/or maintenance work activities
• Ability to work any shift and work overtime as required

• Hemmer experience a plus
• Root cause analysis skills

Position Summary

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe or electrical systems.

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.

Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations to diagnose problem or repair machine.

Dismantles defective machines and equipment.

Installs new or repaired parts.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.

Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment.

Sets up and operates machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.

Operates cutting torch or welding equipment.

Fabricates and repairs.

Performs routine maintenance.

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
