**The role you'll contribute:**
Under the supervision of the Vice President, the Assistant Director of Foundation oversees the day-to-day operation of the three foundation boards. The assistant director works with the boards to carry out the mission and to develop and implement, with local partners, ways to raise funds and to fulfill the vision for the future of AdventHealth Heartland Region. The assistant director will ensure that monies raised will be spent as promised. The primary focus will be the community. The assistant director will also give direct oversight to the Volunteer Services Department and Gift Shop operations.

**Position Summary:**
The Executive Director (ED) will provide dynamic leadership and strategic direction to The Cotton Foundation, ensuring the mission, vision, and values of the organization are effectively implemented and operationalized. The ED will work closely with the Founder, Board of Directors, staff, donors, and volunteers to strengthen the foundation's programs, fundraising efforts, and community engagement. **Financial Management and Operational Oversight:**
+ Oversee the Foundation's day-to-day operations, ensuring programs and services are delivered efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of those served.
+ Ensure financial sustainability by managing budgets, developing financial reports, and monitoring cash flow to maintain the organization's fiscal health.
+ Work with the Board of Directors and staff to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and tax requirements.

**SUMMARY:**
The Senior Associate Director, Foundations, Corporations & Government Relations (SAD) is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for marketing new and existing programs of The Carter Center. The SAD manages fundraising, agreement negotiation, and grants management for a portfolio of domestic and international projects including both peace and health programs, with a focus on government (foreign and U.S.), foundation, international/multilateral organization, and corporate donors, as well as providing support in approaches to individuals. Peace programing includes democracy and governance, human rights, conflict mitigation, and the rule of law. Health programming includes Neglected Tropical Diseases and health systems strengthening. The Senior Associate Director reports to the Director, Peace Development. Working with the Directors of Peace Development and Health Development, other development staff, program teams, and other staff across the Center, the Senior Associate Director develops and implements fundraising and stewardship strategies, including writing, editing, and ensuring the timely submission of compelling proposals and complex narrative and financial reports. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for making and responding to donor inquiries, cultivating strategic partnerships, and stewarding donor relationships.
Periodic domestic and international travel and re-entry into the United States is required. Due to the travel locations, Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) will be required.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Collaborates with programs to develop new initiatives, ascertain funding needs, explore funding sources, and secure funding primarily from governments, foundations, international/multilateral organizations, corporations and individuals.
+ Assumes responsibility for achieving specific goals and objectives of selected programs and projects, including existing program commitments and strategic growth initiatives.
+ Maintains program knowledge and partners with Director to develop, track, and adjust fundraising strategies.
+ Drafts donor correspondence/proposals, researches prospects, and recommends solicitation strategies.
+ Coordinates with research staff and interns to gather donor/prospect information.
+ Researches and identifies donor prospects and recommends realistic strategies for solicitations. Gathers up-to-date information on selected donors and prospects in collaboration with the Center's research staff and Program Development interns.
+ Donor Liaison & Representation: Manages donor cultivation/stewardship, including proposals, acknowledgments, reports, and correspondence. Coordinates with staff to ensure timely communication and deliverables.
+ Budget Management: Partners with finance/program staff to develop and monitor budgets. Tracks reporting requirements and ensures accurate, timely submissions.
+ Communications: Drafts and edits proposals, reports, acknowledgments, and donor materials. Provides content for publications with Communications staff.
+ Meetings, Events & Conferences: Supports planning, logistics, and follow-up for events and attends key Center gatherings (Board meetings, Reviews, Briefings).
+ Information Management: Maintains donor records in Raiser's Edge, Grants Library, and award management system.
+ Supervision: May train and oversee department interns.
+ Policies & Procedures: Ensures compliance with donor and organizational requirements; supports efficient office processes.
+ Professional Development: Pursues training and professional activities to stay current on best practices and trends.
+ Travel: Plans and conducts donor trips and cultivation meetings for staff, leadership, and board members.
+ This position will require periodic international travel and re-entry into the United States.
+ Performs related responsibilities as needed.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ A bachelor's degree and four years of experience in international development, non-profit management, business development, or related experience in a non-profit or higher education institution, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Significant experience in fundraising and grants management for international programs is desired, as is international development program experience.
+ Experience working with U.S. and other government donors, multilateral agencies, private foundations, and donors headquartered in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East is preferred.
+ Proficiency in a second language, particularly French, Arabic, or Spanish would be beneficial.
+ Significant experience in grant writing and donor relations.
+ The ability to draft and edit complex proposals and narrative reports.
+ A solid understanding of program budget development and financial reporting, as well as experience collaborating with programs and finance teams.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively as well as independently with minimum supervision.
+ The ability to develop consensus among diverse internal and external constituents.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to learn Raiser's Edge.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.
