Distribution Center Driver Responsibilities:

The Distribution Center Driver is responsible for effectively managing, loading, and delivering store product to the store locations. The Distribution Center Driver will work closely with other members of the Distribution Center team and report directly to the Distribution Center Manager.

Distribution Center Driver duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in sorting and organizing inbound product and sorting store orders
  • Maintain inventory of all store product making sure to keep adequate back stock of all products
  • Provide manager with an order of product needed on a weekly basis
  • Maintain the product area daily, including keeping the area neat, properly stocked, labeled, and organized
  • Ask supervisor for store product order on the day before scheduled product delivery dates
    1. Sort and fill store product order and stock truck for delivery
    2. Check over list twice to make sure all products are loaded properly for delivery
  • Deliver store product to stores

    2. Efficiently unload product and pick up paperwork to return to the office
    3. Have the store manager sign their store product order; bring signed sheet back to office and keep on file
  • Responsible for warehouse cleanliness and organization; sweep floors daily; properly dispose of all trash in dumpster; keep floors and walkways clear of tools, debris, etc.
  • Ensure that both warehouses are locked, and alarms are set before leaving daily
  • Keep vehicle always clean inside and out; report any maintenance needs to the supervisor (oil change, mechanical issues, etc.); store vehicle in the warehouse at the end of the shift
  • Responsible for general cleanup of all areas of office grounds; make sure that trash is picked up, materials are put away, etc.
  • Remove snow and salt all sidewalks as needed

Our ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of pick-ups and deliveries, both scheduled and unscheduled, across various locations throughout Westchester County. The driver should have thorough understanding of New York State and Westchester County driving regulations, as well as an exemplary driving history. The Driver will work closely with our dedicated team to ensure the safe and successful delivery of food, maintaining strong partnerships, fostering client relationships, supporting local agencies, and helping our neighbors in need. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transportation

  • Pick-up and delivery of various types of food and product to member agency sites or from local donors within Westchester County.
  • Promptly and safely load and unload trucks on location and on-site deliveries.
  • Operate vehicles/equipment as necessary to complete delivery mission (such as box trucks, vans, and vehicles requiring a CDL license when applicable).
  • Timely and professional execution of product donation pick-ups and deliveries for the Food Bank for Westchester.
  • Maintain rapport with donors and/or their employees to foster continued support and a professional working relationship.
  • Deliver food to locations in a timely, accurate and courteous manner.
  • Inspect product donations to assure that safety and sanitation standards are met.
  • Work with volunteers who assist in donor pick-ups and deliveries.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain daily trip and equipment logs which ensure a safe and sanitary vehicle at all times.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate daily records and receipts of the amount and type of food picked up at each donor location or dropped off at each anti-hunger program.
  • Responsible for inspecting food items at each site to ensure viability and safety.
  • Adhere to daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining an orderly and sanitary warehouse.
  • Perform all maintenance checks required for each vehicle operated and report conditions to Distribution Logistics Supervisor.
  • Ensure general maintenance is performed to vans, box trucks and associated equipment, and ensure maintenance logs are prepared and filled out accurately.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of truck, off road diesel, and fuel logs.
  • Record fuel usage and off road diesel usage as well as miles/time data as required by food bank and other regulatory entities.
  • Follow up on repair requests to ensure completion of repairs. Verify (check off) all required items.
  • Perform cleaning and light maintenance of vehicle(s) and equipment, reporting problems immediately.
  • Complete and perform accurate follow-through on documentation for shipping, receiving, unloading and warehousing of product, as defined by the Feeding Westchester policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all current licenses, certifications and medical cards in accordance/compliance with the Food Bank, State and Federal mandated requirements.
  • Provide needed facility maintenance per supervisor's request.

Distribution Center

  • Assist with receiving deliveries, off-loading, inspecting, counting, storing properly, and receipting.
  • Assist with selecting food orders for delivery or pick up.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required Education/Experience:

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience in a warehouse, retail, wholesale, or food service setting.
  • Demonstrated interest in hunger or related social issues.
  • Proven success in building effective working partnerships.
  • Maintain a valid NYS driver's license with a clean driving record.

**Turnstile/Bag Check Guard**
- Meet and greet all employees/visitors entering facility
- Perform bag check on all bags entering facility
- Operate the ADA door as needed
- Perform manual wanding under specific circumstances
- Address positive metal detection issues at turnstiles
- Interface with professional emergency responders in event of facility emergency
- Immediately escalate any issues with facility security or safety to the on-shift security supervisor or manager
**Roving Patrol**
- Performs minimum of 2 full inside/outside tours per shift
- During high traffic times, patrol parking lot during breaks and shift changes
- Perform weekly fence integrity checks
- Perform monthly life safety inspections
- Provide relief to guards at stationary posts as needed
- Proficient in facility Security Camera System and other security programs.
- Immediately escalate any issues with facility security or safety to the on-shift security supervisor or manager
- Interface with professional emergency responders in event of facility emergency
- Ensure facility physical security is in compliance with CTPAT and FTZ compliance
**Gate Guard**
- First point of contact for all drivers entering facility truck yard
- Verify proper ID of drivers and proper paperwork for inbound trailers, using facility Yard Management System
- Perform inspection of all trailers entering yard
- Ensure proper CTPAT/FTZ protocols are followed for import containers
- Document all entries/exits on daily guard log
- Direct drivers to appropriate office locations
- Verify correct paperwork prior to releasing truck from yard.
- Note any discrepancies in paperwork and reach out to inbound transportation for instructions.
- Proficient in facility Security Camera System, Capsure VMS, and facility badge access system.
- Answer phones, take and relay messages to appropriate personnel
- Immediately escalate any issues with facility security or safety to the on-shift security supervisor or manager
- Interface with professional emergency responders in event of facility emergency
- Successful completion of the Georgia 24 Hour Unarmed Security Professional Training (may be offered on site)
- Keen attention to detail and expert documentation
**Required Experience:**
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to learn additional electronic security platforms such as a visitor management system and security camera system.

The Supervisory position is responsible for the safe daily operation of a high-volume and fast-paced distribution center, including coaching of hourly associates and leads to achieve operational service goals in receiving, inventory, picking, and shipping of abrasive products.

**Safety**
+ Lead and guide others in support of safe work culture and environment
+ Steer compliance for safety practices and procedures including housekeeping, 5S, safety team meetings/training, incident reporting and investigations
**Supervision**
+ Supervise a shift of up to 25-45 associates within a 238,000+ square foot distribution center
+ Train associates on equipment utilization, work processes and warehouse management system (WMS)
+ Train, coach and develop leads and associates on job duties for maximum performance and professional growth
+ Review, reconcile and approve time and attendance of hourly associates
+ Proactively address and resolve issues relative to operations and employee engagement
+ Ensure compliance of the Saint-Gobain workplace policies and Code of Conduct and Action are supported and followed
+ Participate in the decision-making process for the following: interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, and terminating associates
**Exceeding Customer Expectations and KPI's**
+ Coordinate, plan, and lead all distribution activities in order to meet established on-time and quality requirements (KPIs). These include Safety, Service, and Productivity
+ Work with associates to ensure shipping and customer service targets are met daily

+ Must be able to plan, organize and manage multiple projects and set priorities
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills
+ Lead by example while working with a diverse workforce
+ Ability to operate powered industrial equipment (PIT), mechanical equipment or willingness to learn
+ Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends if business requires
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products and warehouse management systems
+ World Class Manufacturing/Supply Chain and/or Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, decisive decision-making experience
+ Bilingual is a plus
+ Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.

**OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:** Distribution Center Supervisor's help drive the continued success of our Distribution Centers (DC) by working safely and efficiently to support all functions of the DC. Distribution Center Supervisors in conjunction with the DC Manager will be responsible for providing exceptional training, creating a safe work environment, and ensuring the activities of the DC run smoothly and meet company standards.
**JOB SUMMARY:** Distribution Center Supervisors are responsible for mastering and training the skills necessary to work within the fast-paced and detailed environment. Distribution Center Supervisors will perform various daily management duties by overseeing, directing, and coordinating all activities of the DC to ensure the demands of customers are met on a continual basis. Success in this role is measured in the supervisor's ability to support the facilities team members and efficiency of the facility, providing excellent customer service, and promote an atmosphere of teamwork within the organization.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
+ Maintain a safe and clean facility and use safety first practices to remain accident-free
+ Use all safety related PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and vests
+ Recognize and resolve customer issues or complaints by determining optimal solutions in a timely manner
+ Manage daily activities of the distribution center, including oversight of team members and ensuring productivity goals and KPIs are met
+ Responsible for managing the DC P&L
+ Conduct and facilitate on-boarding of new employees including activities regarding "Best Day Ever"
+ Effectively manage employee turnover. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and coaching employees. Recommend personnel changes as necessary
+ Facilitate and coordinate compliance with required CBT courses associated with all DC personnel
+ Delegate tasks as needed and follow-up with employees to ensure that tasks are being completed
+ Prepare the weekly payroll submission and assure accurate information is being submitted
+ Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory including meeting company shrink or loss goals
+ Maintain personal grooming and uniform standards
+ Maintain company attendance standards
+ Other tasks as assigned
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
+ Education:
+ High School Diploma or GED preferred
+ Experience:
+ 2+ years' experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment
+ 2+ years' experience supervising and training 15+ employees
+ Requirements:
+ Must have valid driver's license
+ Must have clean and consistent record of safety
+ Forklift Certification
