+ Based on expert knowledge of the facility's operations and analyses and reporting conducted by managed team, provides inputs into supplier negotiations executed by Sourcing teams. Ensures that supplier agreements are aligned to the capabilities and economics of the facility.

+ Provides input and feedback into the business unit's demand planning and forecasting based on inventory planning and supplier relations.

+ Evaluates the impact of changes in standard operating procedures, network planning and major supplier agreements on the facility's operations. Coordinates with Managers, Warehouse Operations and other site leaders in order to modify operations to meet new requirements and customer commitments.

The Distribution Assistant is responsible for order selection and loading products to be shipped from our facilities; shipping and receiving inbound and outbound deliveries; maintaining inventory and quality control throughout the shipping and receiving process.

What You'll Do

Order Selection and Loading
  • Select and stage the correct product item number, quantities, and shelf life for shipment.
  • Inspect product quality while selecting orders. Only pack products that meet quality standards. Isolate and report products with quality defects.
  • Securely pack products on pallets or carts, shrink wrapping and labelling as needed.
  • Move product to/from storage and loading dock for shipping and receiving.
  • Accurately record product information on paperwork and enter into ERP systems.
Shipping and Receiving
  • Using material handling equipment or by hand, move products, materials and supplies between storage areas and loading dock to be loaded/unloaded.
  • Load/unload, inspect and put away shipments of materials and supplies.
  • Inspect incoming shipments for quality defects, like damage, incorrect item numbers, or quantities.
Inventory Control
  • Stock, organize and consolidate storage space, as needed.
  • Rotate inventory by item number, lot code, and shelf life.
  • Support periodic company inventory by counting products, materials, and supplies.
Operations Support
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include cleaning, general labor, and administrative tasks.
Who You Are

Requirements:
  • 1+ years experience working in a warehouse or a distribution center preferred.
  • Available to work Monday - Friday; 10 AM start time.
  • Handling food products and following food safety policies preferred.
  • Using a pallet-jack and material handling equipment.
  • Storing, handling, and shipping products, materials and supplies.

Summary/Objective:

The Director of Supply Planning and Inventory Management will be responsible for leading a diverse team of supply chain professionals to support the overall supply chain strategy of maximizing service levels while minimizing sourcing and inventory related costs. THE OPPORTUNITY

Feeding Westchester is thrilled to offer an exceptional opportunity for a dependable, customer-centric, adaptable, and mission-driven Distribution Center Driver. Our ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of pick-ups and deliveries, both scheduled and unscheduled, across various locations throughout Westchester County. The driver should have thorough understanding of New York State and Westchester County driving regulations, as well as an exemplary driving history. The Driver will work closely with our dedicated team to ensure the safe and successful delivery of food, maintaining strong partnerships, fostering client relationships, supporting local agencies, and helping our neighbors in need. This collective effort is crucial to fulfilling Feeding Westchester's commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transportation

  • Pick-up and delivery of various types of food and product to member agency sites or from local donors within Westchester County.
  • Promptly and safely load and unload trucks on location and on-site deliveries.
  • Operate vehicles/equipment as necessary to complete delivery mission (such as box trucks, vans, and vehicles requiring a CDL license when applicable).
  • Timely and professional execution of product donation pick-ups and deliveries for the Food Bank for Westchester.
  • Maintain rapport with donors and/or their employees to foster continued support and a professional working relationship.
  • Deliver food to locations in a timely, accurate and courteous manner.
  • Inspect product donations to assure that safety and sanitation standards are met.
  • Work with volunteers who assist in donor pick-ups and deliveries.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain daily trip and equipment logs which ensure a safe and sanitary vehicle at all times.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate daily records and receipts of the amount and type of food picked up at each donor location or dropped off at each anti-hunger program.
  • Responsible for inspecting food items at each site to ensure viability and safety.
  • Adhere to daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining an orderly and sanitary warehouse.
  • Perform all maintenance checks required for each vehicle operated and report conditions to Distribution Logistics Supervisor.
  • Ensure general maintenance is performed to vans, box trucks and associated equipment, and ensure maintenance logs are prepared and filled out accurately.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of truck, off road diesel, and fuel logs.
  • Record fuel usage and off road diesel usage as well as miles/time data as required by food bank and other regulatory entities.
  • Follow up on repair requests to ensure completion of repairs. Verify (check off) all required items.
  • Perform cleaning and light maintenance of vehicle(s) and equipment, reporting problems immediately.
  • Complete and perform accurate follow-through on documentation for shipping, receiving, unloading and warehousing of product, as defined by the Feeding Westchester policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all current licenses, certifications and medical cards in accordance/compliance with the Food Bank, State and Federal mandated requirements.
  • Provide needed facility maintenance per supervisor's request.

Distribution Center

  • Assist with receiving deliveries, off-loading, inspecting, counting, storing properly, and receipting.
  • Assist with selecting food orders for delivery or pick up.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required Education/Experience:

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience in a warehouse, retail, wholesale, or food service setting.
  • Demonstrated interest in hunger or related social issues.
  • Proven success in building effective working partnerships.
  • Maintain a valid NYS driver's license with a clean driving record.

R equired Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in latest software and technology.
  • The ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Extremely organized, detail oriented and able to keep accurate records for tracking and reporting.
  • Problem solving to identify solutions and meet and enhance organizational mission.
  • Maintain valid food safety certification (Feeding Westchester class available).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to drive 26 ft. truck or van in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, pallet jack, metal carts, etc.
  • Ability to maneuver heavy loads (50 to 2,000 pounds) on a pallet jack on and off truck ramp.
  • Ability to climb ladders and carry up to 70 pounds up and down.
  • Ability to pack, unpack and put away various materials.
  • Prolonged standing, walking and bending in addition to sitting in front of a computer.
  • Ability to give regular communications in person, writing, by email and by telephone.
  • Ability to travel independently in the daytime and evening to regional and national destinations.
  • Ability to load and unload pallets and carts in all outdoors weather conditions.
  • Ability to access all work sites of the agency.
  • Ability to work in below 0F temperatures for short periods of time.

Working Conditions

  • Working inside a warehouse environment.

JOB OVERVIEW

With the support of the Senior Manager, Distribution Planning, the Temporary Distribution Planning Coordinator will execute the daily allocation system and assist in process and technology optimization initiatives with the Distribution Planning Senior Coordinator. This position will assist in adherence to targets and flag anomalies to appropriate managers; assist in the development of workflows and processes for the Network Engagement Department; support customer data clean-up and account integrity; assist in moving food throughout the agency network and in solving for inefficiencies in food placement.

This is a 9-month position. The Temporary Distribution Planning Coordinator will report to the Senior Manager, Distribution Planning within the Network Engagement Department.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Execute the daily Allocation process in a timely manner. Track and adjust allocation to maintain food movement and appropriate inventory turns.
    1. Assist in Allocation Process improvements in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Distribution Planning and Business Intelligence
    2. Track and monitor inventory levels using data analytics, sourcing projections and cross functional work with the Supply Chain team and warehouse team.
    3. Observe and report out on insights and analysis centered around allocation trends on a monthly and seasonal basis to ensure outbound targets are being met and inbound planning is appropriate
    4. Participate in appropriate feedback loop for adjusting distribution in accordance with agency targets set by Program Operations
  2. Assist with distribution planning projects (ie. distribution calendar, turkey distribution, specialized cultural/religious distributions, partner surveying, data and customer account maintenance, etc.).
  3. Cleaning-up data in the Customer Relations Management database as well as supporting data collection efforts across the network including agency pulse checks, regular data collection through Harvest Hub, and the Annual Partner Survey.
  4. Creating a process for managing agency and driver feedback forms.
  5. Assist with distribution planning projects (ie. distribution calendar, turkey distribution, specialized cultural/religious distributions, partner surveying, data and customer account maintenance, etc.).
  6. Meet regularly with the Senior Manager, Distribution Planning, to ensure coordination, collaboration, and problem solving.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

JOB SUMMARY

This is an entry level non-exempt position. Under the direction of the Distribution Center Manager (DCM) or the Assistant Distribution Manager (ADM), performs administrative tasks for the daily distribution center operations and can assist with the manual labor aspects of the operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in all the daily operations at a Distribution Center.

  • Performs administrative duties associated with the operations.

  • Performs administrative tasks associated with Delivery Service Provider Contracts.

  • Retrieves emails, prints and reviews paperwork, and distributes as needed.

  • Communicates with subscribers as they call in with complaints or concerns and informs DSP’s of customer complaints on their respective routes.

  • Efficient in the use of SAP, Word, and Excel.

  • Operates all office equipment including fax, copier, and computer equipment.

  • Assists in maintaining a daily record of: contracted routes serviced, dispatch times for trucks, system problems, and answers to customer complaints.

  • Occasionally, in the manager’s absence, prepares weekly route settlement to insure accurate compensation to DSP’s for services rendered.

  • May assist in unloading newspapers from delivery trucks, and verifying receipt of proper amounts of all newspapers.

  • Assists with distributing required amount of copies to DSP’s.

  • All other warehouse and housekeeping work as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.
