The Department of Biostatistics and Informatics (BIOS) of the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral research fellow position. The successful candidate for this position will work with Drs. Kathryn Colborn and Elizabeth Juarez-Colunga. The selected candidate will benefit from and contribute to multiple existing collaborations between BIOS and the top-ranked hospitals in the Anschutz Medical Campus: Children's Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado Hospital. Specifically, the selected candidate will work on projects funded by Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) that aim to develop statistical methods to address methodological challenges in serious illness and palliative care studies. The selected candidate will assist with projects involving analysis of longitudinal data with missing, correlated data, and truncated outcome data. Pursuit of independent research that aligns with the project goals is encouraged. The selected candidate will work jointly with other faculty, students, and physicians in collaborative projects as part of a Data Coordinating Center. This is a two-year position.

Job Responsibilities
+ Develop research designs, data collection methods, and strategies for data management. Design, create, and revise research instruments as necessary to ensure quality data that aligns with research objectives. Contribute to the development of research protocols that clearly describe research objectives and procedures necessary to test hypotheses. Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within time frames to meet research objectives.
+ Lead multiple data collection efforts by collaborating with several outside agencies and institutions. Analyze data using sophisticated econometric techniques and statistical software including STATA and R using UNIX computer servers.
+ Prepare funding proposals, technical reports, and manuscripts for publication.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. A background in Economics, Psychology, Behavioral Economics, or Behavioral Science is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, taken classes on econometrics and be proficient in either STATA or R, and comfortable working on UNIX servers. Job Responsibilities
+ Develop research designs, data collection methods, and strategies for data management. Design, create, and revise research instruments as necessary to ensure quality data that aligns with research objectives. Contribute to the development of research protocols that clearly describe research objectives and procedures necessary to test hypotheses. Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within time frames to meet research objectives.
+ Lead multiple data collection efforts by collaborating with several outside agencies and institutions. Analyze data using sophisticated econometric techniques and statistical software including STATA and R using UNIX computer servers.

Qualifications

The Department of Health and Exercise Science ( HES ) is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University is Colorado's land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University - Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. Faculty in the Department of Health and Exercise Science conduct innovative research in state-of-the-art facilities, with an emphasis on basic, translational, and clinical applications in the area of chronic and age-related diseases. The Department has ~1100 undergraduate majors, 30-35 graduate students (about 60% PhD and 40% MS). Ten new faculty members (7 tenure-track) have joined the department since 2015. Position Summary
The Department of Health and Exercise Science ( HES ) seeks applications throughout the year from individuals who are interested in obtaining potential Post-doctoral Fellowship opportunities in our labs.
In addition to compliance with all safety, operational, regulatory compliance, and ethics training and procedures associated with NIH , CSU , the Human Performance and Clinical Research Laboratory ( HPCRL ), the following is a list of key responsibilities for the Fellow:

**What You Will Do**
The Welding & Joining (W&J) team is seeking postdoctoral candidates to work on computational modeling/simulation for fundamental and applied welding & joining and brazing applications. Applicants with strong experimental backgrounds in welding & joining, brazing, and related additive manufacturing processes will also be considered, especially in the context of comparisons with and validation of computational modeling/simulation. You will be an integral member of the W&J team, which supports a diverse program of high energy density welding, semi-automatic arc welding, brazing, and solid-state welding. Research opportunities include process modeling in computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, or related materials modeling (e.g., damage modeling) and possibly related experiments, depending upon the background of the successful applicant(s). Specific project goals will be selected based on the candidate's interests and available projects and funding.
The successful applicant(s) will be expected, alongside their mentor, to lead research projects within a small team environment, communicate and deliver results, and identify future directions or applications for their findings. The candidate(s) will work with their mentor and the W&J team, as well as other teams in Sigma division and beyond to solve manufacturing challenges, provide metallurgical guidance, and lead the way in cutting edge welding and joining processing.
**What You Need**
**Minimum Job Requirements:**
+ Demonstrated background in fundamental or applied welding, joining, brazing, additive manufacturing, materials science, process modeling, computer programming, or related fields.
+ Assists in the development of new methods, techniques or approaches to address critical technical problems.
+ Contribute to and authors technical papers for publishing in peer-reviewed journals, as well as deliver conference presentations at technical conferences.
+ Works within a team to write proposals for R&D funding.
+ Ability to work successfully in a complex regulatory environment and experimental facility.
+ Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
+ Ability to obtain a Q clearance which normally requires U.S. Citizenship
**Education/Experience:** Ph.D. in engineering, metallurgical and materials engineering, materials science, or a related field completed within the last five years, or soon to be completed, is required.
+ Self-motivated and independent researcher who has demonstrated experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
+ Experience with specific modeling software or code languages such as Abaqus, Flow3D, Python, COMSOL, or experience with AI/ML, is a plus.
+ Experience with computer data acquisition systems or the advanced application of sensor technologies on welding or additive manufacturing equipment.
+ Experience working with radiological or hazardous materials.
+ Formal training or hands-on experience in any of the following areas: arc welding (gas tungsten or gas metal arc welding), brazing, solid state welding, other welding/joining methods, heat treatment, casting, machining, forging, and/or other metal fabrication using manual or computer numerically controlled equipment.

**What You Will Do**
The Chemical Diagnostics and Engineering group in Chemistry Division is seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral position in synthetic actinide chemistry to perform novel, cutting edge research involving the synthesis and study of thorium, uranium and plutonium compounds and materials. Successful candidates will be responsible for conducting independent research and engaging in a broad set of activities across several scientific disciplines to address broader aspects of the laboratory's mission, including nonproliferation science. In addition, the postdoc will be encouraged to attend seminars of interest, utilize networking opportunities within the laboratory, and foster new collaborations. They will be expected to communicate their results through peer-reviewed publications and to present their work at conferences and to sponsors.
**What You Need**
Minimum Job Requirements:
+ Excellent experimental background in synthetic organometallic or inorganic synthesis
+ Expertise in handling air-sensitive compounds in rigorous air- and water-free atmospheres via inert atmosphere gloveboxes and Schlenk line techniques
+ Willingness to work with radioactive materials
+ Strong communication skills, written and verbal, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and the required cover letter
