Job Description
Professors Andrew Garin and Felix Koenig are hiring a predoctoral researcher supporting their research in labor economics. Examples of current research projects include studying the emergence of new job types and the strategies firms use to recruit talent to these emerging roles, understanding the implications of new forms of gig work and the impacts of regulation, and examining the implications of return-to-office policies on social dynamics. The position is ideal for someone with serious interest in economics research and an intention to apply to graduate school in economics or a related field. The position will involve hands-on experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, research communication, and academic writing. The most important task of the Research Assistant will be to use statistical software to work with large datasets . This work will involve the cleaning and development of data files as well as using econometric and statistical analysis to analyze the data. The successful candidate will meet regularly with Professors Garin and Koenig to discuss their work, exchange ideas and receive feedback, and will have access to seminars, workshops, and a wide range of other activities at Carnegie Mellon.
The predoctoral researcher will be working full-time at the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The appointment term is for one year with the strong potential for a second-year renewal conditional on performance. Preference will be given to applicants who have availability to work for two years.
**Qualifications**
Successful candidates will have demonstrated quantitative skills, coding experience, and mathematical training, including:
+ Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, computer science, statistics, or a related field
+ Significant experience in conducting economic (or related) research, including data processing and analysis. This experience may come from work as a research assistant, independent research during higher education, or similar roles.

Job Description
Multiple Post-Doc Positions in Discovery and Translational Genomics in Kenny Lab
Professor Eimear Kenny, recipient of the 2022 American Society of Human Genetics Early Career Award, is looking to hire 2-4 exceptional postdoctoral researchers to join her group to work on the genomic discovery and translational genomics in diverse populations. The successful candidates can potentially work on an array of projects including method development for population genetics-base approaches scaled to massive genomic databases; approaches to mine deep databases of genomic data linked data from electronic health records; and development and implementation of pipelines for clinical genomic/polygenic risk prediction. Genomic data will be available from the Mount Sinai Health System, a wide international network of collaborators, and from large genomics consortia. Projects will be tied to existing grants in Dr. Kenny’s lab, but post-docs will have substantial input into the specific nature of the project and can propose projects that fit the general research goals of her lab. The position is available for 2 years and may be continued contingent on successful progress and available funding. A competitive salary, travel opportunities, and excellent benefits package will be offered commensurate with experience. The positions are expected to start in Fall/Winter 2022, though a specific start date is negotiable.
Dr. Kenny is the Director of the Institute for Genomic Health, and a Professor of Genetics and Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. The post-docs selected for this role will have the opportunity to interact with other faculty and teams in the Institute for Genomic Health, which is a highly collaborative and dynamic environment.
Additionally, through the newly launched Mount Sinai Million Health Discoveries Program, which aims to enroll one million racially and ethnically diverse patients in the next five years, we plan to advance precision medicine research and improve patient care. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop and lead genomic research using cutting edge health systems data.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should have a PhD or PhD/MD in population genetics, computer science, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computational genomics, or a related field and the ability to work well in collaborative environments.
- MDs with substantial computational experience will also be considered
- Knowledge of theoretical population genetics, complex trait mapping, population- based biobanks, and/or next-gen sequencing is a plus.
- Proficiency in programming in R, Python, and shell scripting is essential. Other programming expertise (such as machine learning) is highly desired.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a strong publication record, evidence of substantial research productivity, and ability to successfully communicate scientific information.

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) invites applications for one or more postdoctoral positions in high-contrast instrumentation for imaging of exoplanetary systems. We anticipate a position focused on advancing technologies for NASA's upcoming Habitable World Observatory. The three main themes are:
1. **Technology demonstration of coronagraph masks (Lead Dr. L. Pueyo).** Duties will include numerical optimization of coronagraph masks, diffractive modeling of high-contrast experiments, implementing wavefront control algorithms on the high-contrast testbed, and error budgeting associated with the testbed experiments. The successful candidate will work with the STScI Makidon Optics Lab team and collaborate with ongoing experiments on coronagraph technologies at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
2. **Technology demonstration of wavefront control and post-processing algorithms (Lead Dr. R. Soummer).** Duties will include numerical diffractive simulations of wavefront sensing and control for segmented apertures, implementing wavefront sensing and control algorithms on the high-contrast testbed, developing post-processing methods that utilize wavefront sensor data, and demonstrating those post-processing methods. The successful candidate will work with the STScI Makidon Optics Lab team and collaborate closely with project partners.
3. **Roman Coronagraph Community Participation Program (Lead Dr. L. Pueyo).** The successful candidate will work as a member of the Roman Coronagraph Community Participation Program team. Responsibilities include characterizing CGI performance based on ground test data and optimizing possible observations during the mission's technology demonstration phase. This effort will place particular emphasis on maturing technologies relevant to the future Habitable World Observatory.
The successful candidate will join STScI's ~20-person Exoplanetary Systems Imaging Group. Members of this group lead a wide range of studies lead a wide range of studies of nearby planetary systems, including exoplanets, brown dwarfs, and circumstellar disks, using data from both ground- and space-based observatories. Current efforts include the characterization of exoplanet atmospheres from 3-15 microns using JWST NIRCam and MIRI coronagraphy, development of advanced data processing methods for imaging spectroscopy with JWST's NIRSpec and MIRI IFUs, and characterization of exoplanets using VLTI/GRAVITY. Candidates interested in pursuing astronomical observations in parallel with instrumentation research should indicate so, as observational research opportunities may arise during the postdoctoral term. We also encourage postdocs to develop and lead their own related research projects through the HST, JWST, and NASA ROSES annual calls for proposals. The nominal start date will be in Summer/Fall 2026. The initial appointment will be for two years, with renewal possible for a third year, subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding.

**Responsibilities**
The Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Radiochemistry Facility at Mayo Clinic Florida, housed within the Division of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Radiology, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow in the field of radiopharmaceutical discovery and development for PET imaging or radiotheranostics. Under the mentorship of Dr. Hancheng Cai, Ph.D., the selected candidate will engage in cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research projects focused on the design, synthesis, and translation of novel radiopharmaceuticals. Responsibilities include conducting innovative research, ensuring compliance with Mayo Clinic's policies and procedures, and contributing to a collaborative and productive scientific environment. Research training experiences will include radiopharmaceutical design, synthesis, and development for PET radiotracers or radiotheranostic agents, preclinical evaluation of radiopharmaceutical in cells or mouse models, as well as clinical production of these innovative radiopharmaceuticals for first-in-human clinical studies.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to participate in translational research at the interface of chemistry, molecular imaging, radiopharmaceutical therapy, and clinical nuclear medicine.
The position is available for two years with the potential for extension. The salary will be based on the applicant experience and the Mayo Clinic guidelines.
**Qualifications**
Must have a Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant, such as a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacology, biomedical engineering. Additional experience with radiochemistry is preferred but not essential. Research background in biology, pharmacology, and cell studies and animal handling would also be beneficial.

This role focuses on the development and deployment of multimodal transformer-based architectures and large language models tailored to medical imaging, clinical notes, and structured health records.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Design and implement multimodal AI/ML models integrating radiology images, clinical text, and structured EHR data.
+ Develop and fine-tune transformer-based architectures (e.g., BigBird, LLaMA 3.2) for tasks such as imaging protocol prediction, segmentation, and outcome forecasting.
+ Apply retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) frameworks to enhance model adaptability and domain relevance.
+ Collaborate on the creation of benchmark datasets, including labeled radiology images and annotated clinical records.
+ Conduct prospective studies and contribute to clinical implementation of validated models.

**Qualifications**
