PLATT, a full-service architecture, construction, and interior design firm based in Brevard, NC,
is seeking a detail-oriented Architectural Drafter to join our growing architecture team.
You will create technical drawings and details, incorporate exact measurements and codes, and enter data to generate 3-D design models. You should have a working knowledge of ArchiCad and the ability to apply the fundamentals of sketching and design to structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing architectural designs and details.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting senior designers with design solutions, researching materials, and detail assemblies
- Working as part of a digital design/BIM team to achieve consistent results.
- Analyzing building specifications, codes, and site conditions.
- Creating technical drawings from architects’ sketches and specifications to create 3-D models and renderings.
- Using ArchiCad to create drawings that incorporate exact measurements, calculations, building codes, and other construction details.
- Printing ArchiCad drawing schematics for use by architects, construction managers, and structural engineers.
- Visiting construction sites to ensure that detail assembly is consistent with plans, and revise/update plans as needed.
- Perform site visits to review completed work.
- Collaborating with architects and structural engineers to ensure adherence to building specifications and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree and/or certification program in architectural drafting or related field
- Experience in ArchiCad, Enscape, and Adobe Suite preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to shift gears quickly and remain calm under pressure

Lancaster Log Cabins specializes in building Tiny Home Cabins, also known as Park Model Cabins, here at our facility in Gap, PA. We build beautiful, turn-key cabins on wheels in both a log cabin style and a modern style that are portable and intended for campgrounds and getaway cabins. What You'll Do as an Architectural Drafter:
- Draft detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for park model cabins — layouts, structures, and components.
- Develop floor plans, elevations, section views, and detail drawings for new models and customized variations.
- Translate design concepts and client requirements into complete, build-ready documentation, ensuring a turn-key cabin experience.
- Review design and customization requests with customers & obtain final approval before submitting for production.
- Design exterior and interior look and feel, along with FF&E, to meet the desired cabin style
- Ensure all drawings comply with RVIA/ANSI A119.5 standards, internal specs, and production feasibility.
- Update drawings in response to customer feedback, production insights, or material updates (e.g., color options, modern or rustic features).
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to optimize material use, long-term durability, and cost-efficiency.
- Maintain version-controlled drawing libraries and organize technical documentation meticulously.
- Support prototyping, continuous improvement, and design refinements.
- Work full-time, onsite, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:30 PM (45 hours per week).
Our Ideal Architectural Drafter:
- Experienced: 5+ years in architectural drawing and design is ideal. An associate's degree or certificate in Drafting, Architecture, Design, or a related field is ideal but not required. Strong understanding of residential construction and real-life application. Experience designing tiny homes, manufactured housing, sheds, or modular cabins is a plus.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Revit or Chief Architect, familiar with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
- Detail-oriented: Produces accurate drawings and maintains high-quality documentation with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong Communicator: Works well in a collaborative setting, with strong teamwork and customer-facing abilities.
- Craftsman's Eye: Brings a passion for craftsmanship and an appreciation for durable, timeless design.
- Design Instincts: Contributes to the aesthetic appeal of our cabins (colors, small design elements, etc.)
- Independent: A motivated self-starter with administrative strengths and the ability to take initiative.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drafting and Design:
- Utilize Computer-Aided Design (Revit, CAD) software to generate 2D and 3D models of architectural designs.
- Create Lot Specific architectural plan sets with Customer selections in Revit.
- Create Lot Specific Site Plans with Customer selections in CAD.
- Interpret architectural sketches, plans, and specifications to create detailed and accurate technical drawings.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and project specifications.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with team members to understand design objectives and project requirements.
- Participate in design review meetings to provide input and make necessary adjustments to drawings.
Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
- Update and revise drawings based on feedback and project developments.
Quality Control:
- Conduct thorough reviews of drawings to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
- Ensure drawings align with project standards and specifications.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address inquiries and provide clarification on design elements.
Deadline Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to project timelines.
- Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines without compromising accuracy and quality.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The Engineering Product Designer is a key position in our Engineering Department . You'll work on a team to design new standard and custom products, execute design changes to existing standard products and modernize our product development operations.
Reporting to our Engineering Management Team, you'll join 3-4 other individuals on one of our design teams. Each team has a collection of Engineers and Drafters who work in unison to achieve the project goals of the team. You'll also provide technical information to our sales and estimating teams at our production operations to provide outstanding service to our customers.
A highlight of your day-to-day will include:
- Providing engineering deliverables, including but not limited to: drawings, submittals, and other technical data.
- Developing content, including but not limited to: standard details, catalogs, and various marketing content as necessary.
- Creating user stories, process workflows, and data models to support configuration development.
- Performing parametric modeling in CAD or CAE systems to generate product designs.
- Working in the Product Data Management (PDM) system to develop and support workflows, as well as product structure and bill of materials management.
- Maintaining organization of multiple projects and revisions simultaneously.
