The Driver License section provides Colorado credentials to the citizens throughout the state which include driver licenses, instruction permits, commercial driver licenses, and identification cards.

A typical day in the life of a Driver License Technician Trainee:

In this trainee role, you will learn to ensure compliance with Colorado Revised Statutes and Federal laws, Department policies, rules and procedures in the issuance of Colorado documents to qualified applicants.   • Interact with customers as the primary point of contact.

  • Communicate with customers about their needs, eligibility, and ensure compliance.

  • Process computer-generated driver's license, identification documents and hearing requests.

Driver License Systems Fundamentals (DLF Certification):

Newly hired (or transferred) Driver License Technician Trainees are designated "in training" for the first year in this position.

Driver License Technician Trainees receive Driver License Fundamentals (DLF) training and regular DLF skills evaluations. Before completing one year in position Driver License Technician Trainees are required to complete DLF Certification. After one year in the position, the Trainee may be reallocated to a Technician II.

Failure to achieve DLF Certification during the first year in position may result in removal from position and possible termination of employment.

Conditions of Employment with the CDOR :

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.

This position processes high-volume requests related to driver history, court orders, and legal documents, including time-sensitive documents.
