THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ENLISTMENT IN THE U.S. ARMY OR ARMY RESERVE

As a Motor Transport Operator, you'll play an important part of the Army's transportation logistics team. Our Team Members use their skills to support the manufacturing of trucks, trailers and support equipment for the largest do-it-yourself moving company in the world.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Responsible for driving trucks less than 26,000 lbs. GVW to pick up and deliver parts between intercompany buildings from customers or vendors as per the established routes. Must perform the loading and unloading of the truck to insure the safe operation of the vehicle.

· Assist in picking customers’ orders and preparing them for delivery.

· Count and check all items being shipped or delivered with accompanying documents (i.e., invoices, packing slips, bills of lading, etc.) to insure the completeness of shipments and the accuracy of documentation. Act to correct discrepancies. Obtain written receipt for items delivered. Advise supervisor of delivery problems or of input from customers.

· Ensure that the vehicles are maintained and /or repaired. Responsible for inspecting truck equipment and supplies before departure and after each stop, and for acting to remedy any discrepancies. Submit a written report of each pre-trip and post-trip inspection.

· Be certified to operate a forklift.

· Understand, support, and implement the company’s Housekeeping, Safety and Quality policies and procedures into daily work habits.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Wear and maintain protective clothing and equipment including safety glasses and steel toe safety shoes. Must wear safety glasses and hard hats in any vendor’s plant that may require such equipment.

· Follow all safety practices during assembly and production operations and ensure work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Requires a valid driver’s license

· Required to pass a truck driver’s physical

· Required to pass an over the road test in a stake body truck.

· Forklift Certification.

· Regular attendance is essential.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, eg., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires physical exertion such as extended periods indoors and outdoors of remaining stationery, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving at least 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
