**Schedule:** Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts

**Essential Duties:**
1. Provide instruction to the offenders for the DWI programs.
2. Interviews, screens, and evaluates offenders for potential program participation.
3. Maintains offender records and other records regarding services provided to include workload statistics; and compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
4. Possess good communication skills and have demonstrated instructional ability.
5. Use a variety of teaching strategies.
6. Administer and evaluate pre and post-test instruments.
7. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills, procedures, and intervention techniques.
8. Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.
**Qualifications:**
+ Associate's degree in the field of psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, education, nursing, or health;
**-- AND/OR --**
+ Possess an active registration as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or Intern (LCDC-I), licensed social worker, or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Intern (LPC-A);
**-- OR --**
+ Possess, at a minimum, two years of documented experience providing direct client services directly related to the applicable internship, licensing, or education documented to persons with substance abuse problems or mental disorders.
+ Successful completion of the Texas DWI Education In-Service Training Program approved by DSHS is also required.
+ Must hold a current CPR certification and maintain a valid license for continued employment.
+ Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
+ Must successfully complete annual background check and in-service training requirements, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).

The Certified Sports Instructor is a leader who shows a high level of commitment to program success. An instructor has the authority to make decisions regarding the safety and well-being of all members and non-members who may be participating within the program. Instructors shall always be approachable and dedicated to providing participants with the most enjoyable experience possible. The Certified Sports Instructor shall teach safe challenging classes, which promote self-discipline, fitness and confidence. In addition, the Certified Sports Instructor will incorporate the values of honesty, respect, caring, faith and responsibility into the daily functions of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teach safe and challenging classes.
  2. Plan classes and tailor them to the skill level of the students to include new techniques, the practice of basic moves and language appropriate to the sport.
  3. Demonstrate techniques and help students perfect their own techniques.
  4. Motivate participants to succeed through each promotional level or recital in order to build confidence.
  5. Adhere to class format as listed in class description.
  6. Develop and oversee leadership abilities in participants through recognition, i.e., assistant instructor, junior leader, and student of the month.
  7. Schedule promotional testing or recitals of participants.
  8. Maintain records of participant’s level to meet general requirements for promotion, if applicable.
  9. Place, pick-up and deliver orders for uniforms and other supplies to participants.
  10. Attend staff meetings as required.
  11. Fill out incident reports for all accidents that occur.
  12. Promote the sport program through yearly demonstrations to the public.
  13. Abide by YMCA COVID-19 sanitation practices/standards to include maintaining the cleanliness of the Lobby and the Wellness floors
  14. Follows all YMCA policies and procedures
  15. Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age
  2. Possess the ability to deal with a variety of different personalities, as well as learning level of participants.
  3. Must maintain a certification from a nationally recognized organization or substitution of two years of sport related education above the high school level.
  4. Must have a minimum of 2 years instructor experience and possess a strong knowledge of sport theory, training principles, techniques and practices
  5. Maintain all required sport certifications where applicable (active)
  6. CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 (within 30 days of hire)

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Walk, run, stand, climb, kneel, sit on floor and get back up, stoop, and jump.
  • Continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking.

Experience the best office in the world teaching Snowsports to guests of all ages. Instructors will deliver quality snowboard instruction to groups and individuals, providing world-class guest service in a safe and fun environment.
**Job Specifications:**
+ Starting Wage: $20/hr - $5/hr
+ Pay range reflects minimum base wages; instructors may have opportunities to earn more with additional teaching incentives
+ Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2025/2026
+ Shift Type: Part Time hours available
+ Minimum Age: At least 16 years of age
+ Housing Availability: Yes
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Teach group and private lessons
+ Work with guests of all ages, with a focus on children
+ Deliver world-class guest service
+ Create a safe and fun learning environment
+ Support all needs of the snow sports school: inclusive of scanning, running surface lifts, facilitating lunch, fitting equipment
+ Provide guest feedback that inspires and creates lifelong snowboarders
**Job Requirements:**
+ Must be comfortable and competent snowboarding on groomed blue terrain
+ Must be willing to work with guests of all ages and have a strong level of comfort with children aged 3 and older
+ Must be able to communicate fluently in English
+ Strong communication skills
+ Must be willing to work weekends/Holidays
+ Must be comfortable being in snowboard boots for extended period of time
+ Placement as an instructor is contingent upon successfully completing training and meeting the minimum skill, guest service, and safety standards.
As a Non-Certified Snowboard Instructor, you have the ability to be a flexible employee who works across multiple departments and in various roles to support the one-resort mentality which could include:
+ Lift Experience
+ Mountain Activities
+ Food and Beverage Support
+ Base Area Operations
+ Retail Rental Operations
**Additional requirements for hires under age 18:**
Submission of a Parental Consent Form upon hire, along with other applicable documents required by state law; such as a work permit, physician's note, and/or proof of birthdate.
The expected pay range is 20/hr - 35/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
