Summary:

Responsible for performing substance use disorder assessments, participating in and contributing to interdisciplinary treatment and discharge plans and providing individual and group substance use disorder counseling services. The alcohol and drug counselor will have skills to carry out the 12 core functions and all other counseling duties identified by Minnesota statute 245G in individual and group settings.

The LADC position will support anti-oppressive/anti-racist practice, and trauma-responsive practice in all aspects of their interactions with staff, community, and company stakeholders through their administrative and operations support of program staff working on site and in community to address socioeconomic and health disparity. Comfort and proven experience and interest in working with staff with a range of identities including age, developmental and acquired disabilities, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, relationship structure, indigenous heritage, national origin, immigration status, and gender is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete assessments and treatment plans utilizing ASAM criteria and sound clinical writing
  • Facilitate intake, orientation, group activities, individual counseling and family counseling for clients in the program
  • Manage an individual caseload not to exceed 10 clients
  • Facilitate 6 groups per week for PPL and 4 additional groups that will include the virtual and in-person track for a total of 10 groups per week.
  • Work closely with clients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care as indicated
  • Collect and review referral information upon assignment of clients from the referral source and consult with others as needed to support coordination of services and scheduling of client interviews
  • Coordinate with the Intake Coordinator as needed to contact clients to confirm appointment dates, times, and assessment locations
  • Collect information from collateral resources to aid in determining diagnosis and need for treatment
  • Work collaboratively with client's funding sources to obtain initial authorizations for reimbursement for intervention and recovery support services
  • Work cooperatively with the legal system to ensure coordination of services including Court appearances when appropriate
  • Complete paperwork requirements and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records, including Outcomes Survey information and information for invoicing; enter necessary information into the electronic medical records (EMR) system
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings with other staff members
  • Prepare and facilitate lectures and educational materials related to Substance Use Disorder to the entire client population and family members as assigned
  • Train new staff and supervise interns as needed
  • Other related duties may be assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in alcohol and drug counseling
  • 270 Classroom hours in alcohol and drug counseling curriculum
  • Completion of 880 hours of alcohol and drug counseling practicum


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Administratively supervises 1-2 ADC interns. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Summary
The Center is looking for compassionate LADC/ADC-T to help provide direction and support to our patients. You will actively help patients build coping mechanisms to guide them through stressful situations. Your duties will also include listening to patients, asking necessary questions, and developing effective strategies to improve their lives. As a Counselor within Clearpath you will work with patients specifically with an opioid substance abuse. You'll manage of a case load up to 60 patients and meet with them once a month at the minimum.

The CORE FUNCTIONS of this position are as follows: screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling (group, individual and family), case management, crisis intervention, client education, referral, reports, record keeping, and consultation with other professionals Programs will include SUD and Mental health services

Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Skilled in performing the 12 core functions:
  • Screening
  • Intake
  • Orientation
  • Assessment
  • Treatment planning
  • Group and individual counseling
  • Case management
  • Crisis intervention
  • Client education
  • Referral
  • Reports and recordkeeping
  • Consultations with other professionals regarding client treatment and services
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Matrix Six Dimension
  • Awareness of cultural diversity and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
  • Assists clients in maintaining county or 3rd party payer mechanisms and for communicating clinical criteria to payers for appropriate services.
  • Obtain authorization for funding.
  • Maintain professional license.
  • Will not admit, transfer, or discharge clients, but may be directed to follow through with the process of implementation of the above by the director or designee.
  • Attend all staff in services and meetings.

Skills & Qualifications

Required:
  • The individual must have current Minnesota State Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor meeting all requirements of Minnesota Statue 148F. Revised: February 2025
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a chemical dependency facility or related and 2-3 years related experience required, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must know and understand all rules, regulations, and requirements of the assigned program.
  • A minimum of two-year freedom from chemical abuse problems.
  • Must document 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems and chemical abuse of dependency that includes competencies related to philosophy, screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, documentation, programming, medication, collaboration, mental health consultation, discharge planning.
  • On-going training on of cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
  • Computer literate Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate abstract concepts in a simple format
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities
Physical Requirement
  • Extended periods of sitting, 80% of time
  • Occasionally reaching for and lifting client charts, 5 lbs, 10% of time
  • Heavy Data Entry on computer, 25% of time
  • Frequent handling of paperwork, binders, writing
