ESSENTIAL DUTIES

-Entering orders at point of sale using the company computer system

-Interacting with customers over the phone, via email and in person

-Order picking/staging

-Replenishment

-Shipping/receiving

-Loading/unloading delivery vehicles

-Delivering product to customers and branch locations

-An eye for safety including pre-trip inspections, securing loads and strict adherence to DOT/CDL regulations.

-Understanding and adherence to the regulations detailed in the FMCSA.

-Other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

-Basic computer knowledge, including keyboard (typing), mouse and Internet use

-Acceptable driving record

-Five years verifiable driving history

-Forklift experience helpful

-Ability to lift up to 75 lbs on a repetitive basis

-Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred, but not required

-Able to pass pre-employment drug test and DOT physical

To operate our company vehicles, you must have a minimum of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT, tanker, and air brake endorsements as well as a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate allowing for operation in interstate commerce. **As a** **US FOODS®** **Delivery Driver, you will be critical to the** **US FOODS®** **team and one of the important faces of our organization. As a Delivery Driver, you will have an impact on our customers by delivering our meats, produce, frozen goods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, and supplies to their drop-off sites. Your efforts are the foundation that defines** **US FOODS®** **success based on our pillars of cultural beliefs, work ethic, collaborative spirit, and service.**
**Deliver best-in-class Customer Service.**
**Deliver customers' orders to meet scheduled delivery times and keep productivity.**
**Unload products with a hand truck and place items in the customer storage area.**
**Able to perform repeated, manual heavy lifting of items up to 80 pounds.**
**Make frequent stops during a work shift.**
**Deliver product in inclement weather conditions.**
**Verify delivery of items with customers.**
**Collect money (cash or checks) where needed.**
**What you bring to the table**
**Must be at least 21 years of age.**
**Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.**
**High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.**
**Valid U.S. driver's license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required**
**No more than two convictions in the past two-year period for traffic violations, no DUI convictions in the past three years, no driver's license suspensions in the past three years.**
**Minimum of six months of commercial driving experience (any industry) OR three months of driving experience in the food and beverage delivery industry required.**
**Must be able to pass DOT physical.**
**Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is $4.50/hr. This role will also receive overtime compensation.**

Primary Responsibility:
Operates a truck that transports cargo to and from specified destinations. Prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service. Loads, secures and unloads cargo.

Primary Duties:

  • Deliver/pickup cargo in a safe and timely manner
  • Maintain telephone contact with warehouse coordinator/manager to receive delivery/pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery/pickup
  • Maintain logs of travel and cargo according to federal and state regulations

Secondary Duties:
  • Assist in vehicle maintenance
  • Responsible for vehicle presentation
  • Assist in warehouse operations as needed

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform function of position
  • Establish and maintain positive and professional workplace relationships with co-workers
  • Carry out all assignments with a professional demeanor

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Ohio Class B Commercial Driver License
  • Pass Ohio Department of Transportation Physical and Drug Screening
  • Candidates must also complete a satisfactory behavioral profile assessment, drug screen and a satisfactory background check.

Position Purpose: 

Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers!

Primary Responsibilities:  

The Driver is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. 

Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed. Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies. Immediately reports all safety hazards. 
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight. 
  • Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded. 
  • Checks and completes in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight. 
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed. 
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule. 
  • Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas. 
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy. 
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. 
  • Collects money (cash or checks) where required. 
  • Loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors.
  • Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured. 
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unloads all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required. 
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements. 
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent 

Valid CDL-A

Must be 21+ years of age 

Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable) 

Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years 

Pass road test 

Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card

Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location
