The Associate Director, Commerce Strategy role will understand the capabilities of commerce platforms including retail media networks and adtech partners and will assist in solving complex business problems through simplified POVs. The role will identify product, process, or solution opportunities based on client needs and unlocking new growth opportunities across channels for clients. This role will have the opportunity to work across multiple client accounts, work with retail partners, and support highly dynamic cross-functional project teams. This role will have the ability to infuse the best of our network capabilities into our client's day-to-day deliverables. An entrepreneurial spirit with a bias for action and problem-solving is necessary to be successful in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to upleveling account management and improve how we serve WPP Media's Commerce clients across agencies.
- Support agency teams (investment, search, social, programmatic, data, and analytics) to deliver comprehensive solutions that accomplish client's business objectives.
- Support the integration between commerce and brand media to develop end-to-end media plans for clients.
- Manage relationships to ensure delivery of first-to-market media solutions.
- Stay up to date on the latest trends and best practices in retail media. Develop and cascade POVs on changing industry dynamics.
- Engage with internal and external leaders across WPP agencies, technology providers, and retailers to develop go-to-market solutions.
- Assist in developing commerce and retail media content for the organization, including educational trainings, POVs, and frameworks.
- Lead the adoption of WPP Media Commerce for new business and existing accounts
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in commerce across paid media, trade strategy, retail, consulting, and/or analytics.
- Ability to execute effective media plans that achieve business objectives.
- Experience across the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Drive to learn and understand the retail landscape and the latest trends in commerce media.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas.
- Deep understanding of retail commercial elements such as profit margin, inventory levels, forecasting, and demand planning to inform media decisions.
- Deep understanding of how different media channels work together and how retail media fits within the wider ecosystem.
- Experience with retail bid management platforms, such as Pacvue or Skai.
- Experience in campaign management and optimization across multiple retail platforms (Amazon, Instacart, Walmart, Target, Kroger, Criteo, Google, Meta, etc.).

The Interconnected Strategy team is responsible for the development and execution of Home Depot's overall interconnected and online business strategy. This includes identifying top opportunities based on market dynamics, developing efforts to address those opportunities, and ensuring adequate internal resourcing while building external relationships to support those efforts.
The Manager is a key member of the Interconnected Strategy team, leading discrete strategic projects or workstreams in larger projects, serving as a thought-partner throughout the online organization, and guiding the work of Analysts / Sr. Analysts. The Manager also creates materials and presentations to effectively communicate frameworks, problem framing, strategies, and insights to senior leaders.
By developing expertise in all elements of online retail (e.g., market and customer dynamics; competitive landscape; technology trends; category, pricing, social, and mobile strategies; interconnected and fulfillment operations), the Manager of Interconnected Strategy has the opportunity to influence change from within one of the world's leading retailers.
Key Responsibilities:
- 10% - Competitive and Market Intelligence - Stay abreast of external developments (including innovations and strategies of notable competitive and non-competitive retailers) to identify opportunities and threats. Leverage internal/external research to develop insights/solutions, create compelling documents to communicate to executive audiences
- 20% - Planning Process - Address business problems by structuring issues and prioritizing analyses. Present readouts and work materials to team and key stakeholders
- 70% - Strategic Projects - Drive one or more interconnected strategy and operational execution workstreams

- Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
- Previous work experience in either world-class retail / ecommerce or in professional services (e.g., strategy consulting, private equity, or investment banking) supporting such retail / ecommerce businesses
- MBA / Master's degree
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant work experience
- Strong skills in quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis and strategic problem solving
- Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership
