General Description:

The Integration Developer is responsible for demonstrating Parrish Healthcare's Culture of Choice® and ensuring platform integration and data interoperability within the organization. The Integration Developer will be responsible for integration engines such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, and Ensemble, MEDITECH EHR, protocols such as HL7, FHIR and CDA, as well as SQL databases, RESTful APIs, SOAP, and middleware platforms. This position works closely with project managers, technical teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and efficient project execution. The Integration Developer assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for assigned functional area(s). This position reports to the AVP/CNIO. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design, develop, test, and deploy interfaces to connect healthcare systems using integration engines and middleware solutions.
  2. Implement and troubleshoot HL7 messages, including ADT (Admission, Discharge, Transfer), ORM (Order Message), and ORU (Observation Result).
  3. Leverage interoperability frameworks like FHIR and IHE profiles to ensure seamless data exchange between systems, including EHRs, laboratory systems, and imaging systems.
  4. Monitor integration environments, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy and reliability across all connected systems.
  5. Customize and enhance integration solutions to meet the specific needs of healthcare providers and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  6. Work closely with clinical and technical teams, including IT staff, clinicians, and external vendors, to gather requirements, implement solutions, and address technical challenges.
  7. Maintain the security and integrity of data exchanged between systems in compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  8. Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including interface specifications, system workflows, and user manuals.
  9. Provide training and support to end-users and IT staff to ensure efficient use of integrated systems.
  10. Participate in or lead projects related to healthcare system integration and data exchange initiatives.
  11. Monitor project progress and report any deviations from the plan to the IT Director.
  12. Ability to craft non-standardized approaches when standards cannot be applied.
  13. Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
  14. Knows fire, disaster, and safety procedures and regulations concerning the work area

Requirements:

Formal Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, healthcare analytics, or related field is required (A combination of experience and/or certifications may be considered).

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • A minimum of one is required within the first year:
    • Health Level Seven International (HL7) (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) or

This role is within a high performing Integration development team, working closely with business applications leadership, business decision makers, and end users. This individual must have the ability to build/ manage Integration processes to meet the business need.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 80,000 and 100,000 per year. The Integration Developer is responsible for development related to projects and tasks that include integration between systems. Integrations can include file transfers, real time API integrations, data loads and extractions into and out of databases and data warehouses, ETL design and processing, and data transfers to and from internal and external sources.

This is a hands-on role that will collaborate with others in the Application Development team and work with the architecture team on designing integration processes. The Integration Developer also will work on web application development projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop applications and/or scripting that exchange data between internal and external systems. This can include feed files, real time APIs, ETL, database query, insertion, and extraction, data warehouse processing, ERP integrations, identity feeds, and a variety of other integration
requests from internal IT sources or business units.

Work with other positions in IT, enterprise architecture (including infrastructure architecture and cloud engineering) to maintain documentation and improve cloud and on-premises integration designs, automation, and documentation.

Analyze current integration processes and update/optimize ETL and data transfers where necessary with a focus on improving security and utilizing modern encryption standards in the transfer process. Research and evaluate new tools and approaches.

Collaborate with others in the Applications Development department.

Assist with establishing and implementing best practices. Follow SDLC processes and best practices. Review data and requirements in order to provide updates to current integration processes, and clearly define new ones.

Develop web applications that support ERP processes and business functionality and work with the team to develop automated approaches for IT and University needs.

Participate in code reviews, adhering to coding standards and best practices to maintain high-quality, well-documented code.

Employ version control systems like Git to manage source code, track changes, and facilitate team-based development.

Leverage integration platforms to streamline and accelerate the development of complex integration workflows.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation using Jira and Confluence to track project progress, technical specifications, and integration processes.

Embrace a growth mindset and actively seek opportunities to learn, adapt, and expand your skills in integration development.

Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, working diligently to identify and address root causes.

Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in integration and application development, contributing to the continuous improvement of our practices.

Required Qualifications:

Solid understanding of integration projects and tasks including database integrations, ETL, feed files, REST based APIs Python, Java/JavaScript (React) and SQL.

Solid understanding of web development principles, APIs, and data exchange protocols.

The Integration Developer will require strong interpersonal skills and will attend meetings with IT and business units/functional areas.

The position requires a minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with Agile/Scrum approach to development.

Experience using code management systems like Git/Github Enterprise.

Familiarity with design/implementation of SQL databases and the ability to write efficient queries and perform data manipulation tasks.

Experience with Ellucian Banner or similar enterprise systems.

Experience with AWS services and capabilities relevant to the role; understanding of automating tasks for deployment, operation and maintenance of AWS services via APIs.

Understanding of software testing methodologies and practices.

Experience working with Linux and bash scripting.

Understanding of SAML, SSO

Salary Range:

$56,700 - $77,963
