Job Objective:
Plans/implements a comprehensive developmental school counseling program consistent with the district mission and legal requirements.
Location: Watkins Memorial High School

Minimum Qualifications:
- Holds/maintains required state department of education credentials.
- Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
- Effective communication, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.
- Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) or similar training may be required for some assignments.
Essential Functions:
1. Provides preventive and developmental counseling to help students enhance decision-making skills that support academic, personal and social growth.
- Assists with program planning. Identifies opportunities to enhance student learning.
- Contributes to the development of dropout prevention, re-entry and school completion programs.
- Collaborates with staff to identify students struggling with academic and/or social-emotional issues.
- Helps investigate student concerns (e.g., abuse/neglect, attendance, discrimination, domestic violence, emotional/behavioral issues, pregnancy, parenting, poverty, self-esteem, substance abuse, etc.).
- Initiates contact with parents, appropriate school personnel and/or community resources to address student concerns.
- Allots time for individual/group and classroom counseling. Helps students improve personal skills (e.g., accountability, interpersonal communication, responsible behavior, self-confidence, etc.).
- Participates in a differentiated referral system (i.e., informal intervention process) that allows staff/parents to request a consultation and/or student evaluation.
- Collaboratively resolves problems that impede student learning. Identifies teaching techniques, interventions and aligned resources best suited for each student.
- Prepares 504 accommodation plans. Serves as a parent/staff resource for plan implementation.
- Facilitates/supports the least restrictive environment for the placement of students with disabilities.
- Works with staff to monitor intervention efficacy. Recommends modifications as needed.
- Advocates for students. Observes student demeanor. Investigates/reports atypical behavior.
- Helps students make appropriate choices and grow academically. Promotes creativity, critical-thinking, cultural awareness, democratic values, empathy, ethical conduct and self-reliance skills.
- Coordinates implementation of required state and district assessments.
- Supports student social-emotional skill development.
- Implements structured student core ethical values education.
- Helps students understand the interrelationships between citizenship, school, work and family life.
- Facilitates student transitions (e.g., program placements, promotion to the next grade level, etc.).
- Coordinates the preparation of the master schedule and curriculum guide.
- Monitors academic eligibility for student participation in athletic programs.
- Facilitates student transitions (e.g., alternative programs, promotion/graduation, school to work, post-secondary program enrollment, employment, etc.).
- Guides students in the investigation of individualized educational, vocational and personal goals.
- Helps students identify personal competencies/interests. Helps students use career resource materials to understand academic requirements associated with post-secondary objectives.
- Coordinates student readiness planning and testing activities (e.g., ACT Aspire, SAT, etc.).
- Facilitates student exploration and enrollment in career-technical programs.
- Maintains post-secondary resource information (e.g., college, university, technical, proprietary schools; military services, etc.). Regularly updates scholarship and financial aid information.
- Acts in accordance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
- Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.

Job Summary
Within the Columbus Promise program, the Career Counselor provides personalized, high touch career counseling and coaching to Columbus Promise scholars. This position collaborates Columbus Promise, Advising, and Career Services to support students holistically in their success in completing their degree or certificate programs. The Career Counselor works to enhance and support the Earn and Learn internship program, assisting in setting goals and making decisions about potential career paths and provide campus community resource referrals. This role assists in the planning, organization, and development of Career READY programming and outreach. The Career Counselor establishes connections on and off campus and facilitates engagement among students, alumni, employers, and community partners to help students pursue their personal and professional goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Career Counseling
- Provides career counseling to assist students with clarification of educational goals and career selection, including guidance on academic major and career pathway. Guides current students and recent alumni to identify careers that match their personality type, values, and skills, and assists students to develop educational and career goals. Provides individual and group career counseling and career direction services to students including resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, and other professional skills necessary for career success. Conducts career counseling and test interpretations for individuals and small groups.
- Develops a deep understanding of the Career Services CSM tool, (i.e., Handshake) to assist students and staff with questions and issues, and regularly sharing dashboard data to key stakeholders. Leads assigned career development program or outreach effort. Utilizes assessment tools for the purposes of data collection and resource development. Provides career consultation and referral services as necessary.
- Develops career services and career coaching approaches for Columbus Promise students. Contributes to the identification, analysis, and assessment of student success outcomes. Connects students with employers, job and internship opportunities (on and off campus), networking, and professional organizations as related to academic pathway.
- Collects and maintains accurate student records for reporting purposes while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Informs students of College's policies and procedures, degree requirements and how to be a successful student. Interprets career, personality, and other assessments.
- Develops and conducts Career READY workshops (e.g. resume prep, interview prep, elevator pitches, industry overviews, etc.) grounded in the eight career competencies as described by NACE. Topics include career exploration, decision-making, goal setting, job searching, understanding labor market data and research, campus and community professional resources, networking, brand management, and other related topics using a variety of delivery formats. Facilitates career related classroom presentations, group/club presentations and others as requested. Conducts training for new students, and new employees relating to Career Services. Maintains a resume collection of Career READY candidates in Handshake by Columbus Promise Cohorts.
- Actively contributes to the communication plan and marketing initiatives by engaging with assigned key stakeholders (students, faculty, advisors). Promotes Earn and Learn, career services, workshops, and programming in assigned area, aiming to increase awareness and student participation. Cultivates student relationships, promotes events, and actively encourages attendance, boosting engagement, and driving participation in experiential learning opportunities.
- Develops, implements, and monitors program plans, objectives, and timelines to coordinate activities and ensure alignment with department mission and program goals. Partners with faculty and staff to effectively coordinate planning and implementation of programing and training. Gathers feedback from participants and stakeholders (surveying, CQI) to refine and improve program offerings.
- Collaborates with faculty, administrators, and college departments to identify, define, and meet student career planning and career service needs of Columbus Promise, including setting student success goals and objectives. Develops and maintains relationships with community and employer partners, creating appropriate referral sources for students. Creates and maintains professional relationships with contacts identified in the community for ease of referrals, collaborations, recruitment and placement activities. May be assigned to oversee special programs, retention projects and activities.
- Provides up-to-date data, tracking for programs, and use of data analytics via platforms, such as Starfish, Workday, and Handshake. Tracks Columbus Promise student program participation and outcomes across all functions of Career Services. Provides frequent reports and other data regarding student participation, outcomes, needs, etc. Effectively uses technology to aid in tracking and reporting
- Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attends all required department meetings and training. Participates in other student success initiatives or projects as needed.
- Hours may include working outside of a normal workweek schedule, including availability for offset hours as necessary and additional and evenings/weekends on a regular basis to provide service to students, cover college fairs, recruitment events, etc.
- Provides office coverage, as needed, answering phones, facilitating student in-take and screening and greeting students and/or employers.
- Master's degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or closely related field.
- One (1) year of progressively responsible experience working with first-generation students.
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Admissions Counselor
SUMMARY
CCAD is seeking an innovative and collaborative Admissions Counselor. Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, Admissions Counselors are responsible for implementing recruitment strategies as they relate to undergraduate students. They will have an assigned regional territory and will manage the recruitment of and communication with students in said territory while being responsible for driving the conversion of those students through various admission stages. They must have the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic and educational levels and skills by using a variety of interpersonal strategies to interact appropriately in situations ranging from large meetings to individual appointments. This position is year-round and requires travel in the fall and spring as well as some evenings and weekends. Admissions Counselors must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the visual arts, and have a commitment to arts-based education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represents CCAD at recruitment events on and off campus including National Portfolio Days, College Days, and college fairs at high schools and community colleges.
- Represents the quality and scope of an art and design education at CCAD to high school and community college art classes and guidance/career centers, prospective students, parents, and the general public.
- Speaks publicly to groups on and off campus about CCAD's academic programs, admissions requirements, tuition, and basic financial aid information.
- Serves as the primary contact for prospective students. Counsels prospective students and families regarding the admissions process and the opportunities that the college presents.
- Develops and maintains relationships with prospective students, art educators, high school counselors, and others as directed.
- Contacts and follows up with all inquiries received through email, website requests, college fairs, school visits, phone, social media, etc.
- Works to complete all assigned undergraduate admissions files from applicants in a timely manner. Track applicants from initial contact through acceptance to attendance in classes.
- Sends all admissions-related correspondence to applicants in a timely manner and follows up with applicants to make sure all material has been received and understood.
- Conducts campus tours for prospective students, visitors, and group tours.
- Works with the CCAD Financial Aid Office to help assist with the awarding of scholarship funds and to explain financial aid processes.
- Tracks and submits individual travel receipts in accordance to CCAD's travel policy.
- Schedules visits to high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations within designated regional territory. Plans travel details associated with implementing the recruitment program.
- Participates in the review of applicant files to determine eligibility for admission.
- Responsible for achieving assigned enrollment goals.
- Assists in the planning and implementation of various Admissions-related events and activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed above. Additional qualifications include:
