SMA part of Optum Care is seeking a dynamic board-certified family medicine physician with experience in graduate medical education to join the education department as "Chief of Education" including an active role within the VHS FM Residency as full-time core faculty in the family medicine ambulatory continuity clinic. Candidate must have a passion for providing clinical and educational guidance through resident oversight and didactic offerings as well as maintain active scholarship in concordance with ACGME requirements. Candidate must be proficient in basic outpatient procedures.
Physician will spend 60% of his or her time devoted to the residency and 40% of time maintaining a patient population of his or her own within the family medicine continuity clinic on the fourth floor of our Oakey and Decatur office building. Patient care is outpatient based though hospital credentialing is required and provided for teaching faculty. Faculty member will contribute to the growth and expansion of a primary care curriculum within a culture focused on innovation, compassionate relationships, integrity and excellence in performance maintaining the quadruple aim with the support of a diverse energetic and well-trained team of medical assistants and an LPN supervisor and state-of-the-art technological support. As chief of the department, the candidate will maintain oversight of the APC internship program, all educational roles throughout the organization and be responsible for managing the department budget and strategic initiatives through regular report outs.
The VHS FM residency is currently in its 5th year and is an innovative collaboration between VHS, Touro University, and Optum Care NV. This position offers a privileged opportunity of leadership as part of the growth of a novel and unique training program in an underserved area. Candidate should be flexible and adaptable to a new program and the innovation and challenges entailed.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Maintain oversight of the APC internship program, all educational roles throughout the organization
+ Manage the department budget and strategic initiatives through regular report outs

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Must be Board Certified in Family Medicine
+ License to practice without restriction by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners or ability to obtain NV license
+ 2+ years of faculty experience
+ Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with ACGME Institutional and Program Requirements - Maintain accurate and complete program files in compliance with institutional records retention policies
+ Ensure that residents comply with periodic survey by ACGME (ACGME Resident Survey)
+ Have previous leadership/administrative experience specifically in leading teams and preferably managing budgets
+ Be willing to combine Clinical/Administrative and Diagnostic (teaching) Responsibilities (60/40)
+ Have solid administrative and team building skills
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
+ Must have participation as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited family medicine residency program and graduate medical education administrative experience
+ Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained
+ You will be provisioned with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are required to perform this role with patients and members on site, as this is an essential function of this role

Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $226,000 to $366,000. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. **Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Clinical Education Manager assists with the negotiation and arrangement of clinical experiences for all students enrolled in prelicensure nursing programs. In addition, this position provides oversight of the clinical experience to effectively integrate standardized clinical learning activities and student evaluation.
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Coordinate and supervise the operation of clinical experiences to provide clinical learning experiences according to established learning outcomes.
+ Assists faculty and staff with preparation for clinical experiences including required clinical compliance documentation for students and faculty as well as facility-specific orientation requirements according to facility deadlines.
+ May serve as faculty substitute in the facilitation of clinical experiences as needed.
+ Assists with standardized clinical faculty and staff orientation and development in collaboration with campus and college leadership.
+ Establishes and maintains relationship with representatives of clinical agencies to maintain a variety of clinical sites appropriate for student learning outcomes.
+ Oversees and assists with hiring, performance appraisal, and mentoring of clinical faculty and staff under the direction of campus leadership.
+ Assists with negotiating and arranging clinical experiences in alignment with the established clinical site selection criteria.
+ Identifies agencies for clinical experience that are appropriate to support course student learning outcomes and collaborates with campus leadership to establish clinical learning opportunities.
+ Oversees clinical site development and clinical scheduling to enhance nursing student experiences.
+ Oversees the implementation of clinical experience surveys in collaboration with College and Campus clinical learning leadership for continuous quality monitoring and improvement.
+ Performs walkthrough surveys of clinical sites and experiences and reports findings to college and campus leadership.
+ Makes recommendations for curriculum and clinical learning activity changes to the curriculum council and the Director of Clinical Learning based on research and identified needs identified when performing oversight in the clinical learning environment.
+ Communicates and integrates college-wide policy and process changes regarding clinical learning standardization and implementation.
+ Attends Student Advisory Committee meetings and reports feedback to college and campus leadership for the purpose of continuous quality monitoring and improvement.
+ Assists with the resolution of student and/or faculty concerns regarding clinical experiences in collaboration with college and campus leadership according to established policy and processes.
**What qualifications you will need:**
**Education: Minimum qualification of an MSN,** or a BSN with at least two (2) years' experience in **clinical education,** with nursing background and knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational objectives and experiences of student nurses, an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing, knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice, and knowledge of the types of clinical sites needed to meet course content and objectives.
**Unencumbered Licensure:** Applicable state as a Registered Nurse.
**Special Qualifications:** At least two (2) years of recent clinical experience, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and match them to the capabilities of clinical placement agencies, excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to be creative and innovative, and proficient computer skills in order to collect and analyze data.
Must agree to obtain CNEcl certification within one (1) year of acceptance of position.

**How you will make an impact:**
+ Researches and resolves Medicare or Tricare operational issues.
+ Works with all Medicare or Tricare operational departments to address provider grievances and service and educational issues.
+ Provides education and training to providers regarding Medicare or Tricare regulations, program transmittals, change requests, and joint signature memorandums via face-to-face and web-based training platforms.
