Special Education Instructor - K-2 Structured Program School Year)
Our district is looking for a caring and motivated Special Education Teacher to guide a self-contained classroom for kindergarten through 2nd grade students with low-incidence disabilities, primarily autism. This full-time, school-year role offers the opportunity to provide meaningful support and help young learners reach their fullest potential through individualized instruction and structured teaching practices.
In this position, you will establish a supportive and consistent classroom environment that promotes growth in academic, social, and daily living skills. Responsibilities include developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), delivering targeted instruction based on student needs, and tracking progress toward goals. Collaboration is an essential component of this role-you'll work alongside paraprofessionals, specialists, and families to ensure each student receives comprehensive and consistent support.
This opportunity is well-suited for an educator who is passionate about teaching students with autism and other low-incidence disabilities and who values structure, patience, and creativity in the classroom. You will foster an inclusive and encouraging space where children can build confidence, develop independence, and thrive both academically and socially.
Requirements
Hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Special Education. A degree in Special Education or a closely related field is required (Bachelor's minimum, Master's preferred). Ideal candidates will bring a strong foundation in childhood development, behavioral support techniques, and a team-centered mindset.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES CENTER INSTRUCTOR
Job Description
Purpose: The purpose of the Educational Activities Center program is to provide informal educational services for Boys & Girls Clubs’ members. This is accomplished through the implementation of a weekly program plan that includes table games, tournaments and contests, low-organized games, activity sheets, free reading, media presentations, group clubs, motivational/participatory programs, instructional and recreational computer programs, informal counseling – both individually and in groups, occurs daily in the Educational Activities Center.

Segments: Program Related – In order to provide a quality experience for Boys & Girls Clubs’ members, Educational Activities Center instructors are expected to plan a program which includes:
- Supervised free play.
- At least two tournaments or contests each day.
- Low-organized “for fun” activities on a daily basis.
- At least one educational contest each day.
- At least one group club which meets weekly.
- To conduct the motivational contest daily as provided in the program prescription.
- To provide at least one activity sheet daily.
- Comply with basic program components as explained in Instructor Training Outline (attached).
- Integrate the use of the computer(s) into group clubs programming (Journalism Club and Homework Help Club) and allow for free-time use of computers by members.
The above program activities should reflect specific age groups and boy/girl/coed opportunities.
Non-Program Related – In addition to program duties, Educational Activities Center instructors are expected to:
- Maintain attractive up-to-date bulletin boards and displays, including a display of weekly programs and members-of-the-month recognition.
- Maintain equipment and make minor repairs.
- At closing, stack chairs on tables, clean area, and prepare for following day’s activities.
- Supervise hallway and areas adjacent to E.A.C.
- Provide attractive display of reading materials and encourage reading by members.
