Job Responsibilities:
+ Providing general patient care including grooming, daily stall cleaning and disinfecting, feeding and watering, walking, applying standing wraps, and stocking clinical areas.
+ Horse handling and restraint for procedures, medical exams and surgery, hydrotherapy, and additional animal husbandry duties as assigned.
+ Maintain patient treatment areas and equipment after procedures have been completed in addition to other housekeeping or grounds keeping tasks as assigned. Documenting stall cleaning status as needed and following Bio security protocols.
+ Collaborating frequently with other members of the clinical care team.
+ Client interactions including admitting and discharging patients.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities The Associate Director of Clinical Care (AD of Clinical Care) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing clinical activity in the Parkinson's Disease Research, Education and Clinical Center (PADRECC). The AD of Clinical Care is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) who assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care, initiates changes in the system for delivering patient care based on current concepts and findings from research and/or studies; uses sound judgment in making decisions; shares expertise with others; acts as a consultant; and identifies, analyzes and resolves patient care problems whose resolution results in significant improvement in care. The AD of Clinical Care is responsible for providing diagnostic and clinical care in the PADRECC at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) III Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in the Parkinson's Disease Research, Education & Clinical Center to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position. The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position. FUNCTIONS OR SCOPES OF PRACTICE. The AD of Clinical Care is a member of the PADRECC Executive Committee and is responsible for the development and execution of the PADRECC annual clinical goals. The AD of Clinical Care is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing clinical activity in the PADRECC. The AD of Clinical Care will assess clinic activity and productivity and implement strategies approved by the PADRECC Director to increase capacity if needed. Clinical process issues will be brought to the attention of the AD of Clinical Care for review, and if needed will create an action plan to resolve the issue. The AD of Clinical Care will delegate work assignments, in collaboration with the Director, to ensure appropriate coverage, meet access demands and provide excellent customer service. The AD of Clinical Care will be a participating member of the National Clinical Care Committee, sharing pertinent information with the clinical staff to ensure all PADRECCs are operating similarly. The AD of Clinical Care is responsible for coordinating new PADRECC nurse orientation and ensuring the nurse(s) receive and complete the established PADRECC nurse curriculum. The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients. Major duties and responsibilities of this position: Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management. Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
