JOB SUMMARY
A Landscape Mechanic is responsible for performing complex on-site diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on landscaping equipment. All employees are expected to carry out the company’s purpose and demonstrate our core values.
As a Landscape Mechanic at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:
- Perform complex on-site diagnostics and repairs on commercial lawnmowers and 2-cycle engines (string trimmers, edgers, back blowers).
- Maintains condition of service vehicles, trailers, inventory, tools, and equipment.
- May establish and implement effective stocking processes to maintain the proper seasonal parts inventory.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Completes all required forms and paperwork for work assignments.
- Account for all time and materials being used during repairs and maintenance.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including wet, rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold
- Advanced understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance
- Critical thinking and ability to perform complex repairs and maintenance on equipment or vehicles
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license is required, with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards
Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
Must be able to move and/or lift up to 75 pounds consistently
High school diploma or GED, preferred
Ability to operate the equipment listed above, in addition to other commonly used landscaping equipment
Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair and/or maintenance of equipment and vehicles
Equipment Knowledge of: Toro, Walker, Echo, Stihl, Redmax, Skags, etc.
WORK CONDITIONS
Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally if needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate in snow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.

The primary role of the Small Engine Repair is to process all work orders for customer repairs, as well as servicing/repairing their equipment. The range of equipment includes Stihl power equipment, primarily 2-cycle handheld units. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability and knowledge required for this position, including having a minimum of three years of related professional experience. The candidate shall also possess good customer communication skills. Stihl certification is preferred but will train as necessary.

This position performs basic preventative maintenance on all types of mountain fleet vehicles with guidance and direction of more skilled mechanics?This role also collaborates with the Parts Lead to manage and maintain vehicle parts inventories. We are looking for an individual that has a mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn and grow.

**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Manage and maintain fleet vehicle parts inventories, including parts purchasing.
+ Perform basic maintenance tasks on a variety of mountain fleet vehicles with guidance from Intermediate and Advanced Mechanics.
+ Communicate with both internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner.
+ Ability to be part of a team-oriented shop in a fast-paced work environment.
+ Demonstrate a commitment to safety by being an active participant in a safety-oriented shop culture.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Job Requirements:**
+ Vehicle maintenance experience, especially with types of vehicles in our fleet, or mechanical aptitude.
+ Must have a valid driver's license / clean DMV record.
+ Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
