Chemours is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join our growing Thermal & Specialized Solutions business team. This position will be available at the Corpus Christi Plant located in Ingleside, TX and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager .
The Chemours Corpus Christi site is part of the Thermal & Specialized Solutions Business and focuses on the production of several different refrigerant gases. The site is a multi-unit manufacturing site with several existing well-established product lines as well as a recently built Low GWP production line aligning with growing market demand.
This role will serve as a Plant Support Engineer for one or more areas of the Chemours Assets at this facility. The individual will provide overall E&I Engineering guidance and support for the Operations, Maintenance, and Technology Teams for their area(s). This role will entail involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting in the plant, as well as support for improvement programs in the areas of Safety (PSM), UPTIME, reliability, cost, new capital and cost projects installations, etc.
The diversity of equipment on the site provides for interaction across a wide range of E&I related equipment. The site has a large and experienced pool of technical engineers across various disciplines to learn from and actively work with. Personal growth and development are actively supported through both internal and external training.
The operating units are designated as highly hazardous processes (OSHA PSM Covered Processes).
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- To provide engineering and troubleshooting assistance to the site’s unit processes, including all synthesis, refining, storage, and shipping operations to maintain and improve the safety, operability, quality, and cost.
- Provides support for both cost and capital projects to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit. This includes scoping out, justifying, and coordinating installation of new/modified facilities
- Provides technical expertise to support specifying and/or maintaining various systems including:
- PLC systems, interlock systems, and DCS
- Low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including motor control centers, switchgear, relays, sizing power cables, etc.
- Transmitters, flowmeters, pressure and level measuring devices, control valves, motors, variable speed drives, etc.
- PLC systems, interlock systems, and DCS
- Leads and participates in Safety, Reliability and Quality Investigations to identify and implement actions to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain personal level of technical expertise in key technologies via training, seminars, and professional organizations
- Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance Turnarounds or other non-routine needs. Travel requirements are
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- 4+ years of experience in related industrial /manufacturing work experience or Military Equivalent Experience (also includes co-op or intern experience).
- Passion for working in and continuing to grow and develop in the Instrument/Electrical Engineering profession.
- High degree of personal initiative and flexibility to move projects forward safely and in a timely manner.
- Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems - making data-based decisions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage short duration deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong customer focus and ability to conceptualize customer needs based on customer input. Ability to effectively communicate through all levels of an organization.

- Experience with Probability of Failure (PFD) analysis on Safety Interlock systems.
- Experience with Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards (NEC, ISA, etc.).
- Working knowledge of industry codes and best practices/programs in engineered solutions.

Requirements
+ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or Control Systems
+ Must have a good understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA 70E/NEC, OSHA, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API, and ASI.
+ 8+ years of qualified related experience
+ Experience in the chemical, refining, or biofuels industry required.
+ Experience with P&ID Development, equipment sizing, electrical calculations, and instrumentation. Demonstrated leadership of process design on capital projects, including responsibility for budget, schedule, and change management.
+ Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Work is located at a chemical plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes
· Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel-toed boots
· Day-to-day physical requirements involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs frequently, etc
· Work requires moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking up stairs
· Assignments may require conducting plant walkdowns and wearing chemical plant or refinery PPE to include an H2S monitor, escape respirator, and FP coveralls.

The Junior E&I Technician provides electrical and instrumentation support to Plains assets through the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of designated equipment and systems. They are responsible for performing scheduled and non-scheduled work tasks in the field at tank farms, pump stations, facilities, Control Centers, and facilities, as well as office locations. They may receive direction from certified trades people such as Electricians, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Instrumentation Specialists, Insulation Specialists, Machinists, Millwrights, Steamfitters, Tinsmiths, and Welders, and may works under some direct supervision.
This is a field-based role with frequent work in open environments with extremes of heat and cold, often in proximity to high voltage and/or chemicals, which requires safety accommodations such as protective clothing and equipment. This role is subject to callouts for work associated with Plains field operations and/or emergency response.
Job Responsibilities:
Executes tasks with a moderate level of guidance and direction; works with little supervision on routine maintenance and projects.
Schedules and performs inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment at substations, pump stations, valve & manifold sites, etc.
Maintains equipment in accordance with the maintenance control system by creating service requests, sourcing parts for servicing, completing work orders, and retaining service records.
Conducts required preventative maintenance tasks on DC and AC motors referencing vendor manuals guidelines and applicable codes and resolve abnormal conditions using vendor manual recommendations (e.g., poor contacts).

What You Will Do
- Work with operations, engineering, contractors, vendors, and other maintenance resources to support a 24/7 paper manufacturing operation with Tissue Machines, de-ink plant and water treatment facilities.
- Respond to critical requests for support site-wide and in specific areas.
- Gain "Center of Excellence" knowledge on specific technologies in our facility and share that knowledge with others as needed.
- Perform troubleshooting on site using Ethernet and logic controls interface tools.
- Identify improvement ability for critical instrumentation
- Support and troubleshoot operating motors, drives, and other logic-controlled variable effort equipment.
- Support and lead capital project teams when necessary including lower-level technicians, contractors, and peers.
- Develop and Mentor apprentices in specific trade areas.
- HSED or Diploma required
- Journeyman Industrial Electrician Card
- Journeyman Industrial Electrician or E/I Technician with State Indentured apprenticeship
- Work experience applying those skills in a manufacturing setting.
- 8-hour Monday to Friday Day shift position to start
- Must be able and willing to work possible 12 hour shifts along with Overtime, weekends, days or nights.

E&I Technician holds the responsibility to monitor and maintain health of the Electrical equipment in his area. He holds the responsibility to troubleshoot the equipment problems and do PM checks assigned to him to keep the up time of the equipment.
E&I Technician is also responsible for day-to-day support for Tissue manufacturing operations & able to coordinate with other departments for the smooth functioning of the work activities of the Department.
Maintenance Adherence & Safety:
· Perform assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) checks. It includes some run checks like but not limited to Thermography inspection in MCC, Temperature monitoring of critical Drives & motors, Transformer run checks, Clean the filters in air compressor & scanner, Lubrication of motors.
· Co-ordinate the PM checks with Vendor when it is outsourced.
· Maintain Housekeeping in all your assigned areas. It includes but not limited to housekeeping of all Electrical rooms and field equipment as needed.
· Follow the requirements of Mill 70E Electrical Safety program.
· Regularly track the spare parts and communicate to lead if the re-order level is reached.
· To complete the assigned Work orders in field and closure on EMAINT system. Do properly communicate to lead on the requirement of materials to complete the work orders.
· Attend daily meetings at 7am & participate in safety toolbox talks.
· Contribute Green cards regularly, which is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the safe acts and identify the unsafe acts of a work activity.
· Report the abnormalities in the field and raise work order requests. Identify the cause of the abnormality in the equipment and suggest solutions.
· Report near miss on system and communicate to E&I lead.
· To assist on IT related needs and co-ordinate with IT Team in case mill needs support on that.
· Properly respond to the calls over the Radio and help the process in troubleshooting the E&I related issues. To co-ordinate with other departments as needed.
· Maintain & troubleshoot the field instruments and be able to do loop tuning on PLC/DCS. Able to calibrate and replace the instrument in the field as needed. Install & maintain Electrical equipment like starters, motors and able to terminate wire up to 500 MCM cable.
· Able to understand the Electrical drawings, PID & PLC drawings to troubleshoot the problems.
· Able to read the program in PLC/DCS & troubleshoot the issue.
· To support on call during the weekend once every 4 weeks if there is any issue related to E&I
· Follow E&I lead on daily job assignments and outage plan jobs.
· Attend the assigned trainings and adhere to the planned dates.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2-year associate’s degree in electrical/ Instrumentation
