Job Description

The Maintenance Electrician Technician will be responsible for performing all electrical maintenance functions on all operating and service equipment in the mills. They will also be expected to install, maintain, repair, and operate heavy industrial electrical systems and equipment using tools like mobile equipment, pendant cranes, overhead cranes, and forklifts.

This is a 365 day/24-hour environment, so must be okay with overtime, weekend, and holiday work. Some of the plants are semi-outdoor and exposed to weather and steel mill conditions, including being wet, hot, dirty, and greasy.
Clairton Plant is and outdoor coke production facility. Candidates will be exposed to daily weather conditions. Edgar Thomson Plant (Braddock) is primary operations facility. Here, the materials from the coke facility are made into cast steel slabs. Workers will be exposed to both outdoor work and inside a metal coal building. Irvin Plant (West Mifflin) is a finishing location. This is where the slabs made by primary operations and roll them to be distributed to clients. This location is entirely a metal coal building.
Clairton and Edgar Thomson are gas hazardous environments.

Must be able to pass a Ramsey Assessment as well as a full panel drug screen (hair follicle and urine).

Essential Duties
- Perform routine repairs on machinery in the plant
- Must be able to read instructions, blue prints, and manuals, and use any meters, hand tools, and shop equipment required to perform tasks
- Replace electric motors, switches and wires as required
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment, relays, AC and DC motors
- Troubleshoot and repair input and output control devices
- Work with 3-phase electrical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance to prevent major production interruption and to ensure the safe operating condition of the plant
- Maintain tools and test equipment to maintain plant electrical systems
- Assist supervision in the design of new equipment as well as replacement equipment to enhance the performance of plant electrical systems
- Work in a neat and orderly manner and be responsible for safety and good housekeeping at all times
- Must have good mechanical skills
- Operate lift truck
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and climb ladders to access equipment
- Must be able to kneel, stoop and crawl around machinery to perform work
- Participate in continuing training process

+ Review time and labor data to streamline maintenance operations wherever possible, and reduce overtime.
+ Proactively identify and implement ideas for improving relationships between maintenance and production, working to create a cohesive working environment.

Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
+ Must have a High School Degree and m ust have at least 7 years of experience as an Electrician in a refinery, petro-chemical or similar industry OR Bachelor's Degree in related field and 3 years of experience in the electrical field. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
+ Must be proficient with Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
+ Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
+ Must have a valid driver's license. (MPC determines valid status.)
+ Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
+ Travel Requirement is 5% or less.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
