Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive experience in power systems engineering, preferably within a utility or consulting firm.
- Strong expertise in power system analysis, protection, and control.
- Proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, CYME, PSCAD).
- Knowledge of NERC, FERC, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards and grid codes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is highly desirable.

As a Power Systems Planning Modeling Engineer you will develop transmission system models used in both real time operations and in transmission planning. These models support the delivery of power to everyone in the ERCOT grid and the planning of billions of dollars of transmission system projects. You will be joining a team that performs industry leading power systems modeling and model management. In power systems modeling you will develop steady state, short-circuit, and geomagnetic disturbance planning models in conjunction with ERCOT transmission service providers. You will also help improve system modeling processes and develop software tools to manage and validate model data. Good communication skills will be needed as this role will involve working with numerous internal and external stakeholders to build transmission system models.

Generation Modeling

Modeling Application Support

+ Work under the direction of a senior level engineer or supervisor/manager to complete departmental goals and assignments

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
+ Requires minimum 2+ years job related experience in excess of degree requirements
+ Experience as a power system engineer or similar type role is required for upper level positions.
+ Experience within the electric utility industry preferred
+ Proven data analytic skills and working with large data sets/relational databases
+ Experience with Python and SQL
+ Experience with statistical techniques such as Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence
EDUCATION:
+ Bachelor's Degree : Electrical Engineering or related field (Required)
+ or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
WORK LOCATION:
+ This position is Hybrid. Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at least 2-3 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
+ On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
+ Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
+ Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time
Salary and level will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.

Provide architectural guidance and leadership to cross-functional engineering teams to establish new product definitions and requirements for system power architecture.
Lead the solutions for delivering system power architectures through the following: Provide power delivery architecture guidance for Datacenter system applications Possess subject matter expertise in power electronics and voltage regulators Establish and drive workload power budgets at system and module levels Perform and guide peak power measurements on system hardware to tune and refine existing power models, for datacenter workloads and applications. Determine product system integration feasibility, via collaboration with mechanical, physical, thermal, and electrical engineering stakeholders. Collaborate with performance architects to define, model and drive improvements in performance, power efficiency and cost. Author system architecture specifications, block diagrams, and conduct review with the product teams. Analyze, guide and support thermal management solutions and trade-offs Be innovative and curious about emerging datacenter workloads and applications to drive the most effective system power architecture choices.
Review, challenge and influence people and processes Lead system architecture and guide early design team activities Define, develop and utilize tools, scripts, automation and methods of system analysis Mentor junior engineers to best practices and data-driven processes
The role may require occasional domestic and international travel.
Minimum Qualifications

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 10 years of relevant industry experience

Has core competence and subject matter expertise in power electronics for server system designs, grounded understanding of server and rack based designs.

Possesses strong technical breadth across several computer subsystem technologies, e.g., CPU, GPU, TPU, storage, memory, power delivery, power management, networking, I/O, thermal management.

Able to create, review and approve engineering requirement specification documents.

Capable of modeling, characterizing power

Possesses functional experience in defining power architecture solutions for complex server system designs deployed in datacenter applications. Demonstrated experience in modeling, power states characterization, and system power budget planning.
