Position Summary:
We are currently looking for a General Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. As a General Journeyman, you will be involved in the installation, commissioning and servicing of commercial building automation systems. This position requires a good working knowledge of basic electronic theory and Building Electrical / Mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Install and wire BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Review plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of installations.
- Repair and maintain low voltage systems (under 120V).
- Assist in delivering BAS solutions to our customer base within the Construction/Operations Department.
- Assist with site commissioning, point to point verifications, troubleshooting and startup of a variety of Building Automation Systems.
- Appropriately handle and be familiar with all testing and electrical repair tools and equipment.
- Perform tasks with minimum supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth's Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
- Adhere to the Company's Quality System operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Understand fundamentals of how HVAC systems operate with buildings.
- Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals.
- Signing Supervisor
- Valid Driver's license.
- Oregon General Journeyman License
- Washington O1 or O6 electrical license is an asset.
- Building Controls Experience is an asset.
- Fluent in English - both written and oral.
- The ability to read and understand construction plans and specs and product documentation.
- Medium physical duties, the ability to stand for long periods of time in a construction environment, the ability to climb ladders and at times work from heights.
- Good knowledge of the electrical trade and the Oregon Electrical Code.
- Adept at installing conduit and pulling wire.

This role is responsible for creating, planning, and estimating costs for routine maintenance work, as well as scoping out jobs for contractors. What You Will Do
- Plan, schedule, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems and components like motors, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution panels.
- Provide leadership in risk management, contractor safety, and mitigating safety issues in operations
- Provide detailed maintenance shutdown and daily work planning and materials procurement in the department
- Efficiently coordinate electrical/instrument maintenance work by anticipating, prioritizing, & scheduling work
- Champion timely identification and development of maintenance outage work
- Demonstrate a proper sense of urgency and discipline to balance break-in and scheduled work, provide a weekly forecast of work to schedule
- Utilize economic and critical thinking and risk-taking mentality to ensure maintenance spend creates long term value for the product system and mill
- Encourage E&I personnel to demonstrate personal ownership and fostering the personal growth of their capabilities
- Collaborate with Area Leaders to prioritize work
- Assist in manpower optimization and share with other Reliability Coordinators and/or Planners
- Maintain the Planning Board metrics and provide explanations for metric performance on a weekly and monthly basis
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Electrical planning experience in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Vocational Trade Certificate or higher in Engineering, Electrical, or Instrumentation.
- Pulp & Paper Industry Experience.
- Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
