Job Title: Electromechanical Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician with extensive wiring harness experience. The successful candidate will support the fabrication and integration of complex electrical and mechanical subsystems for our autonomous aircraft systems. This role involves hands-on harness assembly, subsystem builds, and electronic testing, executed to the highest standards of quality and precision.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and route complex wiring harnesses based on engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation.

• Crimp, terminate, and secure connectors such as Deutsch, Bulgin, and M12.

• Ensure harness quality by verifying routing, terminations, labeling, and workmanship against internal and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.

• Assemble electrical and mechanical subsystems according to work instructions and schematics.

• Conduct functional and continuity testing on harnesses, circuits, and subassemblies using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.

• Perform in-process quality checks on assemblies throughout the build lifecycle.

• Track subassembly inventory and support procurement efforts.

• Write and update detailed work instructions within our Manufacturing Execution System (MES).

• Collaborate on resolving bugs and quality issues during assembly and bring-up.

• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to review work instructions and drive future process improvements.

• Maintain an organized and operational production space; calibrate and maintain equipment as needed.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on technician experience in wiring harness assembly, soldering, and electromechanical assembly.

• Hands-on experience building, assembling, and routing wiring harnesses for complex electro-mechanical systems.

• IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or equivalent.

• Experience inspecting and ensuring the quality of electrical subsystems.

• Experience in electronic bench testing of PCBs using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to carefully assemble subsystems containing diverse electrical and mechanical components.

• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to ask clarifying questions and provide constructive feedback.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with wire harness, crimping, assembly, wire harness assembly, soldering, and subassembly.

• Proficiency in electronic testing and wiring.

Work Environment

This position offers a flexible work shift, allowing you to choose between 8am - 4pm or 9am - 5pm, totaling 40 hours per week. You will work in a collaborative and organized production environment, utilizing advanced technologies and equipment. Dress code is casual, fostering a comfortable and productive atmosphere.

In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment such as packers, slicers, homogenizers, labelers, case erectors, and palletizers using electrical diagrams and schematics.

Qualifications and Traits:

Required :

• Minimum of 7+ years Industrial Electrical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 5 years of PLC experience.
• Must have the ability to demonstrate working knowledge of mechanical/electrical principles/concepts.
• Electrician License required
• Must be flexible to change priorities on assigned tasks.
• OSHA-10 Certified.
• Must be able to communicate and interface on all levels effectively.

Job Summary:

Performs assembly and testing activities for components of particle physics detectors, including work with automated gantry equipment. Responsible for ensuring proper and safe assembly of a detector consisting of many similar but different components. Completes all activities strictly following agreed standard operating procedures and provides feedback to project leaders where appropriate to improve procedures. Primary work site at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory as part of a multi-institutional team involved in the US-CMS project.

SUMMARY

Responsible for all electrical diagnosis and repair on given shift to include the maintenance, service, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ideal candidate will have experience in PLC programming using ladder logic and troubleshooting electrical/electronic circuits to the component level. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; perform tasks in a safe manner.
• Individual must have experience in Allen Bradley, Modicon, and Square D PLC logic programming.
