We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary part-time **Electronics Design Engineer - Space Exploration Electronic Systems** to join the team with Aerodyne Industries, a teammate company.
** We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews. **
The **Electronics Design Engineer - Space Exploration Electronic Systems** will:
+ Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager as part of group of over 45 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.
+ Work directly with or as a Team Lead and associated Electrical Engineers on a given project.
+ Support new designs from conception, analysis, and manufacturing, through to operational test and deployment.
+ Provide design support and guidance in various aspects of Electronics System Development.
+ Be familiar with NASA specifications for Electronics Component development.
+ Develop component test stand architectures for various components.
+ Design and generate electrical component and lab instrumentation test system designs.
+ Develop and or modify LabVIEW code for various test systems.
+ Develop detailed test verification procedures.
+ Work with electrical and mechanical technicians to build and test designed systems.
+ Develop and test various breakout boxes and digital/analog sensor emulation systems.
+ Perform electrical evaluation/selection of instrumentation (pressure transducers, flow meters, pumps, fans, RTDs, Thermocouples, etc.).
+ Troubleshoot and repair existing test systems.
+ Conduct analog and digital printed circuit board design for various application needs.

Summary : This position is responsible for using a variety of hand and power tools, fixtures, work instructions to perform a series of operations to correctly assemble components.

Regular schedule is Monday - Thursday: 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Variations on this schedule will be communicated upon hire.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 5S protocol.
  • Make sure that schedules are being run exactly as they are listed.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Turn off equipment when not in use.
  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Disassembles components by utilizing hand and power tools
  • Cleans and buffs components.
  • Hand wash components with soap & degreaser on parts washer.
  • Blowout parts to remove soap and degreaser plus dirt and debris.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and requirements:

• High school degree or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of basic mechanics.
• Knowledge of machine testing procedures.

Summary: Our Electronics Technicians are responsible for testing and inspecting precision electronical and mechanical devices, documenting and reporting tests results and troubleshooting issues. This role focuses on working with locomotive electronics equipment, including cab control, signaling equipment, bench level test equipment and board-level troubleshooting.

For this position we offer two possible schedules:

Monday - Thursday: 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Monday - Thursday 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Your schedule will be assigned upon hire.

Location: KRC 4800 Deramus Ave Kansas City, MO 64120

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform functional tests on products at the sub-assembly and final assembly level.

  • Troubleshoot and repair failed products or subassemblies to the board level.

  • Identify root cases and apply preventative measures while fixing the product.

  • Follow the ESD (Electric Static Discharge) and IPC (Institute for printed circuits), processes and procedures to performed board level re-work of component exchange.

  • Conduct test based on written procedures, verify current revision levels, and visually inspect product for appearance and workmanship prior to the final approval.

  • Repair and replace electronic components, using through-hole, SMT component repairment, hot air or traditional soldering methods.

  • Locate and interpret product documentation, including schematic drawings.

  • Meet quality standards in line with internal quality assurance requirements, AAR and FRA protocols.

  • Complete daily work orders/schedule based on productivity levels assigned by supervisors and line leads.

  • Adapt to changing priorities based on customer demands.

  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment as needed in a timely manner.

  • Monitor and manage chemical shelf life.

  • Willing to cross-train and support other team members as needed

  • Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements.

  • Keep the work area clean and organized on a daily basis.

  • Follow 5S protocol

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and requirements : (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Preferred: Associate's degree in electronic technology, or Equivalent military certification or work experience in electronics repair.

  • Preferred: +3 years of experience as a bench technician, troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies to the component level.

  • Knowledge of common test equipment i.e., oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal/function generators, frequency counters, ESS chamber, etc.

  • Ability to read, understand and analyze schematic drawings.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, test procedures, engineering and graphic work instructions, and technical documentations - accurately and consistently in English.

  • Experience in stand-alone testing of electronic boards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in electronics new manufacturing/remanufacturing work environments.

  • Familiarity IPC, recent IPC training, and ESD requirements.

  • Skilled board level testing, troubleshooting and use of stand-alone internal equipment.

  • Background in electronics production or prior military electronics experience.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft OS, HyperTerminal, Pro-comm, or Tera Term software for testing.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to receive, implement feedback and adapt process, procedural or behavioral changes as needed.

Summary: Our Electronics Testers II is a skilled role responsible for supporting the testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of locomotive electronic devices. This position performs hand-on work inspecting, identifying failures and replacing non-conforming parts in electronic devices.

  • Perform functional tests on electronic products at various stages of assembly.

  • Conduct basic repairs on electronic boards and harnesses using soldering techniques.

  • Reload software and prepare devices for testing using defined procedures.

  • Operate test equipment and tools commonly used in electronics assembly and troubleshooting.

  • Assist in diagnosing low-medium complexity issues at the board level.

  • Interpret and follow technical drawings and standard test procedures.

  • Visually inspect product for quality, labeling and component placement.

  • Identify and locate appropriate product documentation to complete assigned tasks.

  • Complete daily work orders/schedule based on productivity levels assigned by supervisors and line leads.

  • Adapt to changing priorities based on customer demands.

  • Work with IPC 610 recent IPC training, and ESD protocols.

  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).

**Summary:** Our Electronics Testers II is a skilled role responsible for supporting the testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of locomotive electronic devices. This position performs hand-on work inspecting, identifying failures and replacing non-conforming parts in electronic devices.
+ Regular schedule is Monday - Thursday: 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

**Location:** KRC 4800 Deramus Ave Kansas City, MO 64120
**_Duties and Responsibilities:_**
+ Perform functional tests on electronic products at various stages of assembly.
+ Conduct basic repairs on electronic boards and harnesses using soldering techniques.
+ Reload software and prepare devices for testing using defined procedures.
+ Operate test equipment and tools commonly used in electronics assembly and troubleshooting.
+ Assist in diagnosing low-medium complexity issues at the board level.
+ Interpret and follow technical drawings and standard test procedures.
+ Visually inspect product for quality, labeling and component placement.
+ Identify and locate appropriate product documentation to complete assigned tasks.
+ Complete daily work orders/schedule based on productivity levels assigned by supervisors and line leads.
+ Adapt to changing priorities based on customer demands.
+ Work with IPC 610 recent IPC training, and ESD protocols.
+ Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
+ Repair and replace electronic components executing engineering instructions which include soldering techniques/requirements.
+ Meet quality standards in line with internal quality assurance requirements, AAR and FRA protocols.
+ Maintain electronics test equipment and ensure test equipment is within calibration date.
+ Monitor and manage chemical shelf life.
+ Willing to cross-train and support other team members as needed.
+ Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
+ Keep the work area clean and organized on a daily basis.
+ Follow 5S protocol.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications and requirements:** (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
+ Preferred: Associate's degree in electronic technology, or Equivalent military certification or work experience in electronics repair.
+ Preferred: +1 years of experience in electronic testing, troubleshooting or electronics assembly.
+ Familiarity with common test equipment, i.e., oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal/function generators, frequency counters, ESS Chamber, etc.
+ Ability to read, understand and analyze schematic drawings.
+ Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, test procedures, engineering and graphic work instructions, and technical documentations - accurately and consistently in English.
+ Experience in stand-alone testing of electronic boards.
+ Basic soldering experience and ability to use precision hand tools
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Good working knowledge and experience with testing electronics
+ Familiar with IPC 610, recent IPC training, and ESD protocols
+ Background in electronics testing or new electronics manufacturing or remanufacturing production. Prior military electronics experience will be equivalent.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft OS, HyperTerminal, Pro-comm, or Tera Term software for testing.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
+ Ability to receive, implement feedback and adapt process, procedural or behavioral changes as needed.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
