RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 + years’ experience in electromechanical and / or electronic product assembly.
  • 2 + years’ experience working in PCB assembly.
  • Must be able to work comfortably with the Microsoft Office suite of tools, Lab View, custom Test & calibration software along with production control and management software.
  • Skilled in the use of a wide variety of electromechanical assembly hand tools
  • Solder skills including surface mount assembly
  • Through hole and surface mount PCB repair and rework skills
  • Able to read, follow and suggest improvements to production work instructions.

**Position Overview:**
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking an outstanding candidate to lead the Electronics Engineering Division (EED) in its Accelerator Directorate (AD). The division is responsible for all electrical and electronics systems including software controls in the Directorate's accelerators and test facilities. The Division Director manages the resources, budget, and activities for electrical and electronics systems engineering and support, including design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and improvements for these systems and subsystems for multiple SLAC projects and accelerator facilities especially the design and operations of SLAC's superconducting and normal Linear Coherent Light Source (LCLS). This Division is comprised of six departments with approximately 100 scientists, software engineers, electronics and electrical engineers and technicians. The EED Division Director is a key member of the AD's Senior Management team and contributes to the vision and long-term objective strategy for the Directorate and the Laboratory. **This position reports to AD's Deputy Associate Lab Director.**
**Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.**
**Specific Responsibilities include the following:**
+ Managing the activities of a large-scale diverse technical operation with responsibility for resource development, management, and deployment of groups of scientists, engineers, and technicians in support of AD's and SLAC's mission in accelerator operations and development projects in the disciplines including accelerator computer control, computer control system hardware interface components, data acquisition and processing components, digital signal processing, feedback control and regulation, device control, low level RF control and monitoring, beam diagnostic instrumentation. + Leading planning and budgeting activities for the division and in support of the directorate

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Staffing support to space systems programs

**What does this role look like?**
As an **Electronics Packaging Manager** , you will have responsibilities for the execution of mechanical design and analysis and sourcing of avionics packages, harnesses, connectors, and parts components.
You will lead a team of designers and analysts and develop internal customer relationships to ensure program commitments are established and met.
You are a leader who is disciplined in project management principles, value-driven Systems Engineering and who is able to drive design evolution in a systematic and thoughtful way. You will be accountable for working with Program Managers and CAMs to execute electronics analysis efforts while properly balancing cost, schedule, and scope constraints.
**Responsibilities Include:**
1. Execution accountability for electro-mechanical design and analysis tasks for the Fleet Ballistic Missile modernization program.
2. Scope of activities include these business phases: Non-recurring development, Recurring support, producibility improvements, troubleshooting, and post-delivery support.
3. Production support (e.g. lead team to resolve hardware discrepancies such as Vendor Requests for Information/Changes, Quality Non-conformances or engineering drawing updates).
**Key activities you will accomplish in this role:**
- Ensure Electro-Mechanical staffing needs are met in the Avionics Tactical IPT.
- Provide leadership on a fast paced team from requirements through development and production.
- Be responsible to assure coordination between functional groups during the product development life cycle.
- Communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer.
- Conducting personnel management for a portion of the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Tactical Avionics team
- Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training.
- Responsible for performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
