Among the nine major weekends of racing activity are the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, the DAYTONA Supercross, the DAYTONA 200 motorcycle classic and the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include track tours, concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.
JOB SUMMARY
Daytona International Speedway is seeking positive and experienced Emergency Telecommunicators to work various shift schedules during major racing events. Events include Rolex 24 event, NASCAR Speedweek and Coke Zero Sugar 400 events, concerts and motorcycle events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsibilities include answering, processing, and/or dispatching both emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and radio responses for law enforcement, fire rescue, emergency medical services, and other related public safety services, including maintenance and guest services requests.
- Record call data on 24/7 Incident Managing Software.
- Communicate with guests via 24/7 text messaging system.
- Practice and maintain professional work ethics and appearance.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Strong typing skills.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED
- Basic office systems including but not limited to cellular phone, computer system & programs.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Hours will vary but will include all hours the office is open, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to attend events and to fulfill job responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Professional: Minimum of two years related emergency services experience preferred or related college degree is preferred. Projects a professional company image though verbal and written communication. Presents self in a professional manner and have ability to interact with all levels of organization internal and external.
- Interpersonal Skills: Listens to others, ability to follow oral and written instructions effectively, responds to manager's instructions and accepts feedback.
- Personal: Project a positive image to internal (employees) and external (fans, vendor, other sports professional, community members) customers, communicate effectively and professionally at all times, comfort and experience with public speaking, exercise excellent managerial judgment, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, team worker. What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an Emergency Management Dispatch-Telecommunicator/Communications Specialist that is responsible for all hazards incident communications and coordination for emergencies and disasters that impact Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)! EM activities include the following: responsible for incident management and coordination for the Laboratory, effecting tactical actions during emergency response, categorizing and classifying events, establishing initial and ongoing protective actions; coordinating with offsite agencies during emergencies; participating and supporting in complex drills and exercises; supporting and implementing emergency preparedness; providing a 24/7 operations/communications center; analyzing and mapping hazards at the Laboratory; implementing emergency response capabilities in support of the Wildland Fire Program for the Laboratory in conjunction with federal, state, local, and tribal authorities.
This position supports incident management and coordination activities by receiving, gathering and assessing information regarding abnormal or unusual events and emergency conditions. The new telecommunicator will deploys SNL emergency response assets, such as Sandia Agency Representatives, EMS resources, Kirtland AFB Fire and Emergency Services, Emergency Response Teams, and other command advisors, as required across the laboratory. Additionally, they will: Support incident coordination with internal and external emergency response organizations and agencies. Implement and coordinate workforce protective actions using technology/systems. Serve as an extension of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Communications Unit during EOC activations. Monitor the laboratory fire alarms systems and facility control systems and takes actions in accordance with procedures and protocols. Conduct time critical incident notifications to a diverse set of laboratory partners to include contractor and federal senior leadership. Monitor and tracks SNL international travelers to ensure worker safety during international incidents (terrorism, natural phenomenon, etc.). Develop, review, and provide input on EM plans, procedures, checklists, and protocols, as assigned and participates in drills, exercises, and program assessments, as assigned. Perform all necessary shift administrative duties. Maintain communication logs, emergency information files, and laboratory system records. Manages controls in accordance with standard procedures. Reports any observed deviations to on-call personnel.
You will be the Laboratory's primary point of contact for incident notification, reporting and coordination of emergency and non-emergency activities and ensures the implementation of appropriate emergency plans, procedures, and checklists in accordance with Federal laws, DOE orders and other related DOE directives and guidance. The EMCC Telecommunicator communicates time urgent decisions to include categorization and classification of operational emergencies, initial protective actions, making time-constrained internal and external emergency notifications, assessing actual or potential impacts from severe weather, and assessing the need to activate the Emergency Response Organization (ERO).
Applicants should have demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in emergency management, public safety, security or related fields. Telecommunicators may frequently use and apply EM standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. They may perform some non-routine tasks requiring the exercise of independent judgment. Additionally, this position provides solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. This job includes some responsibility for end products and follows established procedures for routine work.

On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Utilize a multi-line phone system, receive and triage recorded emergency (9-1-1) and non-emergency incoming calls that frequently involves critical situations affecting human welfare and safety in a concise, timely and accurate manner in accordance with applicable protocols and standards.
+ Assist callers with pre-arrival instructions as prescribed in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) procedures and department protocols. Utilizing a multi-channel radio system, dispatch emergency response resources from multiple agencies and internal resources to support incident needs in accordance with applicable protocols and procedures that requires good judgment and independent thinking.
+ Utilizing a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and other software systems, accurately document and record incoming requests for service, and track the status of resources.
+ Utilize workforce mass notification systems to protect the workforce and public from incident hazards operating sophisticated communications equipment and software during emergency situations, ensuring required Department of Energy (DOE), Baseline Needs Agreement (BNA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements are maintained.
+ Maintain logs and other recordkeeping methods to support quality assurance reviews, post-event analysis, report production and a chronology of notification and communications activities.
+ Monitor Sandia employees on domestic and international travel to ensure their safety and welfare.
Monitor local and remote site weather conditions using Environmental Systems and communicates safety and reporting messages to the workforce as appropriate.
+ Work with the Sandia Agency Representative and EMCC Duty Officer, to declare operational emergencies, categorizing and classifying the incident, communicating protective actions, and making offsite notifications to local jurisdictions.
+ Serve as the primary contact for Security Connection (SIMP) and Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) by documenting and notifying other partners of security and safety related incidents that occur to Sandia personnel and/or property both on-site and remote site locations.
+ Monitor facility control alarm systems (FCS) both at Sandia New Mexico and California sites, documenting system alarms and making immediate notifications to facilities personnel to protect life, property and the environment.
+ As a Fire Protection liaison, monitor the onsite and offsite fire alarm systems for Sandia New Mexico, California and Nevada sites, documenting system alarms, dispatching emergency resources, making immediate notifications to fire protection personnel to protect life, property and the environment.
+ Manage the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) duty schedule and activates the EOC based on predetermined protocols during emergency events.
+ Serve as the point-of-contact for Sandia New Mexico, California and Nevada sites corporate notification and reporting programs during standard and non-standard hours to include 3-1-1 information services.
+ Actively participates in drills, exercises, and training in order to develop, improve, practice and demonstrate knowledge skills and abilities to ensure proficiency and competency in all areas of responsibility.
+ Notify, report and activate a wide range of partners of critical and timely information that affects SNL operations to ensure resource engagement, supports critical decision making, and ensures safe and effective SNL operations.
+ Works in an occasionally dynamic, high-stress and high impact environment.
+ Develop, maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external partners to achieve collective emergency preparedness goals and objectives.
This position is onsite and requires the ability to work on a part-time rotating 24/7/365 shift schedule, including providing vacancy backfill, nights, weekends, holidays which may include overtime/shift differential compensation, in order to meet minimum staffing requirements.
It also requires the ability to gain knowledge and experience with:
+ Procedures for monitoring alarm systems and take proper action as required.
+ Applicable federal and state emergency management and emergency response laws, regulations, executive orders, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders related to emergency management and emergency response.
+ Laboratory's emergency, security and safety policies, practices, and procedures.
+ Potential hazards and proper procedures involved in emergency response to fire, explosions, chemical, radiological, security and/or natural disaster situations.
+ Ability to establish and maintain internal qualifications and external certifications to include but not limited to SNL Telecommunicator Qualification, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) license, FEMA training certifications and CPR/AED certification.
This is a recurrent employee position, meaning the position is required to hold a specific certification and license. Recurrent employees are part-time employees reporting to meet minimum force requirements in special operational areas.
Qualifications We Require:
+ High school diploma plus three or more, years' experience or equivalent of combination of education and relevant experience.
+ Have a state of New Mexico Emergency Management Medical Dispatcher license.
+ Experience in law enforcement, fire, rescue, security, medical dispatching, other emergency service, 311 or cooperate communications and/or dispatch center.
+ Experience and demonstrated proficiency using computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software systems used by emergency response organizations and communications centers.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
+ Experience working with radio and notification communications systems, multiple monitoring computer consoles, data collection and recording systems, computer aided dispatch systems, and/or other emergency response and management support systems.
+ Experience working within the National Incident Management System/Incident Command System with Emergency Operations Center, Public Safety Agency, or emergency services organization.
+ Completion of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) courses.
+ Experience in supporting incident management and coordination activities involving emergency response to fire, explosions, chemical, radiological, security and/or natural disaster situations.
Experience in procedure and training development.
+ Associates or bachelor's degree in emergency management, business studies, public safety, communications, occupational safety, or related field and (3) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of related training and experience; or working towards completion of same.
+ Experience working in fast-paced, multitasking work environments; with the ability to quickly adapt and prioritize multiple work tasks.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively present detailed information in a clear and coherent manner.
+ Positive demeanor and contributing employment history.

The Emergency Management organization is responsible for protecting the workforce, public, property, and the environment from all-hazards through the implementation of all phases of emergency management: preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. Additionally, the Emergency Management program is comprised of an integrated team of emergency management and public safety professionals dedicated to protecting life, property, environment, and Sandia's reputation.
The Emergency Management organization and its partners prepare for emergencies through the development of comprehensive emergency plans and procedures and conducting training and drills. **Position Highlights and Summary** **:**
+ Dispatch Operators work in our Regional Command Center.
+ The Regional Command Center is responsible for monitoring the alarms (life safety equipment, critical life plant functions, security cameras and panic alarms to name a few) for all four hospitals including the Boise Regional Medical Center, Nampa, Ontario, and Baker City Medical Centers.
+ The Center also answers and routes thousands of phone-calls a day from the public and Saint Alphonsus colleagues and works very closely with senior leadership, Clinical Leaders, the Security Team, and Facilities management at each Medical Center. The center also oversees Security ID badging.
**What You Will Do** **:**
+ As a Dispatch Operator you will work under minimal or no supervision to courteously answer and dispatch all received calls, alarms, and emergent situations in a timely manner.
+ You will serve as a liaison between the hospital and the public by providing information and assurance of routing calls to the appropriate departments or areas as needed.
+ In this role, you will remain calm and organized under all types of situations. All duties are performed in a way that promotes a team concept and reflects the mission of the Saint Alphonsus Health System.
+ You will monitor and document the following:oAll life safety equipment for SAHS and dispatches appropriate responders as necessary.oCritical life plant functions and life safety functions per procedure and notifies appropriate responders timely and accurately.oSecurity cameras and panic alarms for RHMs and SAMG and dispatches appropriate responders. oFor PharmaWatch per regional contract to respond with the appropriate policy based on alert notification.

**Work Schedule** **:**
+ This position will work PRN/on-call for a variety of shifts.
+ Our shifts are offered 7 days a week and are: 7am - 3pm, 8am - 4pm, 11am - 7pm, 3pm - 11pm, and 11pm - 7am.
**Orientation and Training** **:**
The orientation for Dispatch Operators is typically 5 weeks. Your first week will be general orientation and system training. Training can be flexible based on availability, but ideally you will train on all shifts - 1 to 2 weeks on a day shift, 1 to 2 weeks on a swing shift, and 1 week or so on a night shift, so some flexibility is needed initially for training. Our shifts are 7am - 3pm, 8am - 4pm, 11am - 7pm, 3pm - 11pm, and 11pm - 7am.
**Minimum Qualifications** **:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
+ Dispatch and/or hospital experience preferred.
