Job Summary and QualificationsThe Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
- Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
- Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
- Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
- Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.
- ENPC must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
- TNCC must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
- Texas State RN License or compact license required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
- ACLS or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- BCLS or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- PALS or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- 1+ yrs experience in Acute Care ER is required

Join a Magnet®-recognized Nursing team at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip as we expand into a new era of patient care with the upcoming opening of our state-of-the-art Patient Care Pavilion —a 300,000 sq. ft. facility featuring private rooms, advanced surgical suites, and a transformative Emergency Department.
We are looking to hire experienced Registered Nurses for the following units:
- Medical Surgical
- Emergency Department
- Operating Room

Requirements:
- Demonstrated passion for patient-centered, collaborative care.
- Valid NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) accepted if currently enrolled in an accredited BSN program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required for Emergency Department RNs.
- Medical/Surgical: Minimum of 1+ year of RN experience preferred.
- Emergency Department (ED): Minimum of 1+ year of RN experience required.
- Operating Room (OR): Minimum of 1+ year of Operating Room RN experience required.
Salary Range
USD $54.49 - USD $74.73 /Hr.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
