VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital has opportunities available for experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency, specialty referral, and general practice in Downers Grove, Illinois. Veterinary Assistants will primarily work alongside our ER and ICU technicians to assist in providing patient care. Veterinary Assistants must be motivated and dedicated workers with a strong work ethic, excellent client communication skills and well demonstrated professionalism. This position does require candidates to be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and demonstrate attention to detail while handling heavy caseloads. Specialties include: Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care. We are currently hiring for: Emergency/Critical Care.
The Emergency and Critical Care position(s) is a full time position. Schedules are offered in three 12 hour shifts per week, or four 10 hour shifts per week. Schedule does include some weekends and holidays. Schedules for ER are on a rotating schedule, with required weekend shifts every other weekend.

WVRC Waukesha has an opening for a Veterinary Assistant in our Emergency Department at the Waukesha location!
The Veterinary Technician Assistant provides key support to the technician and veterinarian staff. Must be friendly, professional and courteous, and capable of handling several tasks at once with frequent interruptions. Must be able to take direction from multiple staff members while adhering to training standards. Schedule and Compensation:
- This is a first-shift position
- Four 9-10 hour day shifts each week, including every other weekend
- 4 Holidays per year
- Pay starts at $15 an hour and may be higher depending on experience
Essential Functions: Multi-tasking and attention to detail skills are required. Must have the ability to stand for the majority of the work period and enough stamina to work past the regularly scheduled shifts, if needed. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Restraining of patients

In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality emergency care to animals in need. Our Emergency team ensures that the most critical cases receive immediate attention and that all patients receive the care they need.
**Schedule:** Part-time, swing/2nd shift (either 2p -11p or 5p -2a) with required weekends.
**Compensation:** $ 15 - 20/hr and is determined by skill set, and years of experience in the field. We do off a $3/hr differential for all hours worked between 7p - 6a.
**Key Responsibilities:** The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:
+ **Assist** **in Emergency Procedures:** Support veterinarians and technicians during emergency surgeries, trauma care, and critical treatments.
+ **Patient Care:** Provide compassionate and attentive care to emergency patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing comfort.
+ **Client Communication:** Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing them with updates and information about their pet's condition and care instructions.
+ **Maintain Equipment and Supplies:** Ensure that all emergency equipment is properly maintained and that supplies are well-stocked and ready for use.
+ **Team Collaboration:** Work closely with our emergency veterinary team to ensure the highest standard of care and a seamless operation during emergencies.
**Qualifications:**
+ **Experience:** A minimum of 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine is required.

**Compensation:** $24- 34/hr and pay starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.
We also offer a shift differential to all hourly associates who work within a specific timeframe.
**Schedule:** Full-time, Overnight/ 3rd shift.
+ Scheduled hours would be 11 pm - 8 am, with every other weekend.

As an Emergency team member, you will support the Emergency doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.
Our Emergency and Critical Care Technicians thrive in a fast-paced service, handle critical case, and enjoy the stimulating caseload. Our Technicians have the opportunity to sharpen and advance their technical skills every day.
+ Triage and prioritize incoming emergency cases
+ Coordinate ER flow by assigning clinicians and ensuring timely patient care
+ Provide high-quality nursing care and monitor critically ill or injured patients
+ Place IV catheters, perform diagnostic testing, and administer treatments
+ Assist in and monitor anesthesia for emergency procedures; manage patient recovery
+ Support clinicians during exams, procedures, and diagnostic imaging (radiographs, labs)
+ Communicate clearly with clients about patient status and discharge instructions
+ Maintain accurate medical records, enter charges, and complete treatment sheets
+ Collaborate with CSRs and team members to ensure a smooth client experience
+ Maintain cleanliness, follow infection control protocols, and ensure proper patient restraint
