POSITION SUMMARY
Alterra Mountain Company is seeking a Compensation Specialist to support the day-to-day administration of the company's global compensation strategies, assist with data analysis, and ensure pay practices remain compliant, equitable, and competitive. This role will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative and organizational tasks, which includes high level support of the Compensation Team. The position requires a pro-active, self-starter with the ability to accurately and confidentially handle sensitive information who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General Responsibilities
- Support ad hoc job analysis through reviewing job descriptions, gathering internal and external sources of data, and applying industry knowledge to assist with compensation recommendations
- Maintain and update compensation records in the HR system (Workday), including integrity of job profiles, job titles, salary ranges, etc.
- Assist with reviewing job descriptions to ensure proper classification and alignment with Alterra's Career Framework
- Respond to routine compensation-related inquiries from employees and managers
- Participate in annual salary surveys and benchmarking studies to maintain the company's competitive market position
- Support the administration of compensation programs, including the annual merit process and incentive program(s)
- Ensure minimum wage compliance by coordinating with destination HR leads to prepare and audit minimum wage files
- Provide administrative support for compensation projects and initiatives
- Contribute to compensation practices and programs that are externally competitive, internally equitable, and aligned with the company's compensation philosophy and business priorities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial employment laws and regulations in the U.S. and Canada
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year of professional experience in Compensation, Human Resources, or similarly applicable field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables)
- Workday experience preferred
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work collaboratively to support shared goals
- Desire to learn and seek out excel functionality whether used on a one-time or continual basis
- Basic understanding of federal, state, and provincial employment laws and regulations for the U.S. and Canada
- Professional/lived experience working in a culturally competent manner with a broad range of people.

- BA or BS in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.'s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Denver area base hourly pay range: $21.15 - $29.33 per hour

Position Summary: Assist and contribute to the development and administration of Johnson County Community College's (JCCC's) compensation program that ensures the college attracts, retains, and engages a motivated and skilled workforce by offering a competitive and equitable compensation package.

- Enter and update data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct research, learn, and stay informed about relevant laws and regulations related to compensation. Work closely with leaders and more experienced team members to train, receive feedback, and learn compensation best practices.
- Implement and administer established compensation-related policies and procedures.
- Assist in internal equity analysis and reviews to ensure fairness, equity, and consistency in how employees are compensated across JCCC.
- Collaborate with hiring managers and team members from Human Resources and Recruiting to assist with developing competitive and equitable salary offers for new hires and internal promotions.
- Respond to basic inquiries from employees regarding compensation policies and practices. Monitor and answer inquiries received in the functional email inbox.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Accounting, Finance, Payroll, and Human Resources, to assist with process and data issues. Conduct and complete routine salary survey market analysis requests.

Essential Functions
Compensation
- Analyzes data to ensure internal pay equity and external competitiveness. Makes recommendations for internal and external offers to attract and retain highly sought-after talent.
- Leads and executes on the administration of pay increase programs, reviewing changes in wages and salaries for alignment to compensation philosophy and budget planning process.

Other duties include: lead for entering new hire pay and pay adjustments in the HRIS system, collaborate with other ES positions and payroll regarding duties that overlap such as recruiting, pay adjustments, etc., data quality control in the Workday (HRIS system) and Payfactors, cloud-based compensation data management tool, report writing utilizing Workday and Payfactors data, back up for Functional Analyst in Workday and Payfactors writing business processes, compensation compliance with local, federal, and state regulations such as FLSA, CEPEWA, etc., writing, editing and interpretation of compensation policies, procedures, and processes, annual maintenance of Part-time Compensation Handbook, completion of annual compensation surveys and lead for market analysis process.

Full-Time and Part-Time Job Analysis/Salary Placements/Annual Raises:
- Classification Analysis of all positions.
- Working with the Vice President, Employee Services to facilitate the annual review of full-time positions/FTE (PPQ) process and the annual raise process. This includes aiding supervisors throughout the process, both during the reclass/refill process and the annual review process.
- Creation of generic job descriptions.
- Complete Salary Placements for both re-class and new hire for review by HR Analyst and facilitate approval from President or EVP, depending on need. This also includes the executive compensation matrix.
- Creating salary notices and updating employees' salaries in Workday as it relates to the Annual Raise process.
- Maintain and develop Standard Operating Processes (SOPs) as needed.
- Serve as the Chair of the Compensation Handbook Committee (part-time positions).
- Maintain accurate data in all position control, titles, dates affecting payroll, salary matrix, compensation handbook, and position control hard files.
- Work with the Budget Department and Payroll Department to make sure data is accurate and distributed as needed.
- Complete all survey questionnaires and maintain a backup.
- Distribute survey results to the appropriate parties.
- Work in conjunction with Institutional Research to maintain accurate data in being reported.
- Assist Institutional Research with any data requested once approved by HR Analyst.
- Maintain and develop SOPs on this process as needed.
- Facilitation of all associated paperwork to all affected departments (payroll and budget).
- Create and facilitate all Reclass paperwork. This includes meeting with all full-time reclass employees except for Administrator positions.
- Keep Workday up to date with the position/ employee changes.
- Maintaining the Position Action Request (PAR) form.
- Assist departments with reorganizations, including maintaining the organizational chart.
- Maintain and develop SOPs on this process as needed.
- Yearly update of the Staff Matrix and all generic job descriptions.
- Back up of all other HR personnel as stated in the HR Matrix and Compensation Handbook.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or other related field.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certificate, plus two (2) years of work experience.
- Two (2) additional years of experience in a full support human resources department performing similar duties or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of an integrated HRIS system.
- General to Advanced skills in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Word and Excel.
