The job of the Compensation Specialist was established for the purpose(s) of performing various duties in the administration and support of the school division compensation programs, including processing new hires, reconciling data, researching and resolving pay discrepancies, maintaining and updating salary scales and calendars in Human Resources/Payroll System and other system as needed.This position reports to the Director of Benefits and Compensation. This is a Full-time, 12-month, support role, located in ACPS Central Office. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Personnel, Business Administration, or other related field preferred. Certificates & Licenses: None required. Experience: Three years’ experience in payroll, finance and/or human resources. Public school personnel experience preferred. Experience may be substituted for education. Strong personal computer skills with emphasis on Google Sheet and Microsoft Excel advanced functions. Essential Functions: Administer compensation programs in compliance with prescribed policies for the purpose of ensuring fiscal accountability (e.g., entering data for new hire salary information, benefits and leave, updating Human Resources/Payroll system tables annually, contract renewals, salary improvements, salary notifications and contracts, stipends, summer school assignments, etc.) Process varied and complex detailed pay calculations using salary data to be entered into the Human Resources/Payroll System (i.e., promotions, terminations, salary improvements, LWOP, etc.) Coordinate annual salary notification and contract process and distribute to employees electronically, including performing annual step increase rollup process for all employees within the District per approved budget. Create and maintain annual calendars and salary schedules and update Human Resources/Payroll System using prescribed guidelines. Maintain standard operating procedures for the administration of compensation process for the Human Resources/Payroll system. Participate in software upgrades to ensure the Human Resources/Payroll system functionality is operating effectively and efficiently. Reconcile semi-monthly payroll to identify any compensation related issues and inactivate terminated employees in system to ensure data integrity. Work closely with the Payroll, Budget/Finance departments to effectively facilitate compensation related activities in support of organizational goals and objectives. Manage the HR Compensation email account to research and respond to internal and external customers. Respond to written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel and/or identifying the relevant issues. Prepare standardized and ad hoc reports and related documents for the purpose of providing documentation and information to employees and other personnel as needed. Participate in meetings as needed for the purpose of conveying and receiving information required to perform functions. Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. This role is responsible for managing compensation systems, compensation initiatives, and ongoing compensation projects and programs. This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.As part of a hardworking team of human resource specialists, you will be responsible for implementing compensation programs for Blue Origin employees. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of compensation program development and execution for the company.
You will support compensation program execution and proactively identify key organizational issues and assist in shaping the overall strategic direction of compensation programs.
You will ensure that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. You will provide training and consultation to managers, supervisors and HR professionals on compensation subject matter. You will perform job evaluations of positions, including gathering data relevant to job studies, extracting market data from various surveys, and advising managers, HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition partners on job design, compensation, policy and program development, implementation and/or administration.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in Compensation, Human Resources or Finance, or an equivalent combination of degree and years of experience.
Experience implementing compensation principles and programs.
Deep analytical skills with the ability to utilize data to influence decision making.
Proficiency in applications and systems including but not limited to SharePoint, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, HRIS systems (workflow and backend testing), survey data tools, and reporting and visualization tools.
Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
Experience acting as a consultant to business partner clients (hiring managers, talent acquisition, and HR) to inform, educate, persuade and negotiate to consensus.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
Proficiency in process documentation and improvement tools such as Lean or Six Sigma, process flow charts (Visio), desk procedures, and navigation guides
Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong communicator, both verbally and written
Ability to work and communicate at all levels of the organization
Proficiency in functionality development, testing, and utilization of HR Information Systems including Workday, Greenhouse (ATS), Visier (data analytics and visualization), Payfactors (survey and market data)
Compensation Range for:
CA applicants is $108,795.00-$52,311.95;WA applicants is 108,795.00- 152,311.95Other site ranges may differ

The job of the Compensation Specialist was established for the purpose(s) of performing various duties in the administration and support of the school division compensation programs, including processing new hires, reconciling data, researching and resolving pay discrepancies, maintaining and updating salary scales and calendars in Human Resources/Payroll System and other system as needed. This position reports to the Director of Benefits and Compensation.
This is a Full-time, 12-month, support role, located in ACPS Central Office.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Personnel, Business Administration, or other related field preferred.
- Certificates & Licenses: None required.
- Experience: Three years' experience in payroll, finance and/or human resources. Public school personnel experience preferred. Experience may be substituted for education.
Key Competencies:
- Strong personal computer skills with emphasis on Google Sheet and Microsoft Excel advanced functions.
- Familiarity with Human Resources/Payroll information systems preferred.
- Demonstrated competencies in problem solving, data analysis, organization, customer service and written/oral communication.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with professional colleagues, professional organizations and community organizations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously and communicate effectively with various employee groups.
Essential Functions:
- Administer compensation programs in compliance with prescribed policies for the purpose of ensuring fiscal accountability (e.g., entering data for new hire salary information, benefits and leave, updating Human Resources/Payroll system tables annually, contract renewals, salary improvements, salary notifications and contracts, stipends, summer school assignments, etc.)
- Process varied and complex detailed pay calculations using salary data to be entered into the Human Resources/Payroll System (i.e., promotions, terminations, salary improvements, LWOP, etc.)
- Coordinate annual salary notification and contract process and distribute to employees electronically, including performing annual step increase rollup process for all employees within the District per approved budget.
- Create and maintain annual calendars and salary schedules and update Human Resources/Payroll System using prescribed guidelines.
- Maintain standard operating procedures for the administration of compensation process for the Human Resources/Payroll system. Participate in software upgrades to ensure the Human Resources/Payroll system functionality is operating effectively and efficiently.
- Reconcile semi-monthly payroll to identify any compensation related issues and inactivate terminated employees in system to ensure data integrity.
- Work closely with the Payroll, Budget/Finance departments to effectively facilitate compensation related activities in support of organizational goals and objectives.
- Manage the HR Compensation email account to research and respond to internal and external customers. Respond to written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel and/or identifying the relevant issues.
- Prepare standardized and ad hoc reports and related documents for the purpose of providing documentation and information to employees and other personnel as needed.
- Participate in meetings as needed for the purpose of conveying and receiving information required to perform functions.
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
