Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Programs Underwriter to join our Delegated Authority Team. In this role, you will exercise technical underwriting expertise and relationship management skills to drive profitable growth. You will manage MGA and partner relationships, underwrite program business within delegated authority, assess complex risks, and lead portfolio monitoring activities to ensure profitability and compliance. This role requires sound judgment, the ability to work independently, and a strong balance of analytical and interpersonal skills to succeed in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow MGA and agency relationships through regular communication, performance reviews, and resolution of underwriting issues.
- Independently underwrite new and renewal program business within delegated authority and evaluate referrals outside of MGA authority.
- Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Compliance, Legal, and Reinsurance to optimize program design and performance.
- Monitor and analyze portfolio results (loss ratios, pricing adequacy, adherence to contractual obligations), preparing detailed reports and recommendations for senior management.
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve profitability and growth objectives.
- Lead and oversee agency audits, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of insurance applications, financials, claims history, and industry data to assess risk and determine appropriate coverage, pricing, and terms.
- Serve as a subject matter resource to junior underwriters, providing guidance on complex risks and underwriting best practices.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of underwriting decisions and policy records.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to inform underwriting strategy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in underwriting processes, tools, and program management.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Commercial Insurance Underwriting, with delegated authority/program business or E&S experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Commercial P&C coverage forms and underwriting practices.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills with proven underwriting judgment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio with accountability for results.
- Familiarity with compliance, audit processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Professional designations (CPCU, AU, ARM, etc.) or progress toward them strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
Work Environment
This role offers flexibility with an office-based, hybrid, or remote arrangement depending on location.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $90,000–$110,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and geographic location.

Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and detail-oriented Associate Underwriter to join our Delegated Authority Team. This is a multifaceted role where you will combine technical underwriting expertise with relationship management skills. In addition to underwriting program business, you will oversee MGA and partner relationships, monitor portfolio performance against profitability targets, support agency audits, and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines. The ideal candidate will bring foundational P&C knowledge, strong analytical ability, and the interpersonal skills to succeed in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage MGA and agency relationships, including ongoing communication, performance reviews, and issue resolution.
- Underwrite new and renewal program business within delegated authority, and handle referrals outside of MGA authority.
- Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Compliance, Legal, and Reinsurance to evaluate and optimize program performance.
- Monitor portfolio results (loss ratios, pricing adequacy, adherence to contractual obligations) and prepare reports for management.
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to drive profitable growth.
- Participate in and lead agency audits, ensuring adherence to underwriting and operational standards.
- Review insurance applications, assess risk exposures, and determine coverage amounts, premiums, and policy terms.
- Analyze client financials, claims history, and industry data to inform underwriting decisions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of underwriting decisions and policy files.
- Support senior underwriters with renewals, new business submissions, and complex accounts.
- Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current on market developments, insurance regulations, and product trends.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement and best practices in underwriting and program management.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in Commercial Insurance Underwriting or a related role.
- Strong understanding of Commercial P&C coverage forms; experience in E&S, contract binding, or delegated authority/program business preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Familiarity with compliance and audit processes preferred.
- Professional designations (CPCU, AU, ARM, etc.) or progress toward them a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
Work Environment
This role offers flexibility with an office-based, hybrid, or remote arrangement depending on location.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and geographic location.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage a small department of employees in the Cypresswood office. Includes performance management, utilization, and engagement.
