Apart from formal qualifications, what other skills or characteristics do you need?The job involves giving numerous presentations to colleagues, management, and external organizations, including government departments. Good, confident presentation skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds are essential.
What sort of organization do you work for? Who else employs Reservoir Geophysicists?I work for a global oil and gas company active on five continents in over 25 countries. Major oil and gas companies and most oil and gas service companies employ reservoir geophysicists. They also work in seismic data acquisition and processing, among other areas.
If this wasnt your first job after your studies, what did you do in between?I worked as a Geologist in the Caribbean for a mining company between my degree and MSc. Gaining work experience during or between studies helps prepare for your first professional role.
Do you travel within the UK or overseas very much?Travel is a significant part of my job. I have traveled to the Caribbean, US, Europe, and the Far East. Travel can range from a week to several years, so a love of flying is beneficial.
Do you work a regular length day/week or are shifts involved?I have a regular workweek but may work offshore supervising wells. The work environment is dynamic, requiring flexibility to adapt to changing situations.

We are adding a Lead Building Estimator to our Kiewit Industrial organization to support our Oil/Gas and Petrochemical market, based in our Houston office in the energy corridor. In this role, you will work in with both engineering and construction teams, reviewing, analyzing & interpreting contract documents (specifications, drawings, and reference information) to develop comprehensive cost estimates for various Industrial facilities. You will be involved in assembling estimates with different execution methodologies (Design-bid-build, design/build, EPC) and will create subcontract bid packages for use in obtaining quotes from vendors to support the building construction.

- Understand industry best practices, project/ construction sequencing, geographical challenges, etc. and implement on each estimate.
- Consult with estimate team on challenges discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.
- Complete technical bid evaluation reviews during the bid period and determine the practicality of submittals.
- Communicate critical issues and estimate assumptions to Estimate Management as they arise to ensure proper awareness and limit late changes.
- Schedule, prepare for, and participate in estimate reviews and presentations to department heads and project management.
- Understand past project cost data for benchmarking, and monitor key estimating metrics that are reviewed by Senior Management and ensure that the estimate falls within the accepted boundaries. Be able to explain any metrics that my fall outside these accepted boundaries.
- Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new products, methods, and procedures in the industry.
- Work with engineering team to prepare value engineering solutions related to cost, schedule, and Owner benefits.
- Facilitate Cross-Discipline Communication.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred. If no degree, a minimum of 10 years in Building Estimating for design/construction.
- At least 5-8 years' estimating experience in building construction, design, or subcontract management. Experience with standard practices for building cost estimation (Class 1-5).
- Understanding of Metal Building Structures for industrial projects, and basic understanding of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system, building codes and requirements.
- Familiar and confident in understanding the workflow required to estimate, bid and construct buildings in an Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) and Design-Build environment.
- Experience with execution of all building project design phases from concept to construction.
- Knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and techniques, construction safety and current Federal & OSHA Requirements.
- Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience with the value engineering process and low cost alternative recommendations as they relate to project budgets and associated construction costs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Bluebeam and Navisworks. Experience with InEight Estimate (HardDollar) preferred.

**What role you will play on our team**
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Upstream Oil and Gas Lawyer to join our legal team. This role involves providing strategic legal counsel across a wide range of upstream oil and gas matters, including exploration, production, transportation, and sales. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in real property law, regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, and multi-jurisdictional legal frameworks, particularly federal and tribal and in states including, but not limited to Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, Louisiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.
**What you will do**
+ Analyze, draft and negotiate a wide range of oil and gas agreements, including: Leases; Joint Operating Agreements; Farmouts; Surface Use Agreements; Division Orders; Purchase and Sale Agreements; and Midstream Contracts
+ Advise clients on regulatory compliance related to exploration, production, and transportation in the Upstream oil and gas business organization. This will include interpreting oil and gas regulations, land use agreements, permitting requirements, and real property laws

**About you**
**_Skills and Qualifications_**
+ J.D. from an accredited law school
+ Strong college and law school record (top 1/3 of class preferred)
+ License to practice law in at least one state (Texas preferred)
+ Strong knowledge of oil & gas law, property law, and mineral rights
+ Demonstrated experience in providing commercial and operational legal support to an upstream oil and gas business unit
+ Relevant experience in a corporate, law firm or government agency setting handling oil and gas regulatory issues, negotiating oil and gas agreements, real property work, sales, and royalty obligations
+ Strategic thinker with sound judgment and the ability to manage risk in a complex, global environment
+ Proven ability to advise senior leadership on sensitive, high-impact matters
+ High ethical standards and professional integrity
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a diverse, global team
+ Client-focused approach to risk-management and problem-solving
+ Willingness to travel domestically as needed

**Required Qualifications**

+ Minimum 5 years' experience selling similar Service Offerings - Applications Development & Maintenance, Business Process Outsourcing, and Information Technology Outsourcing
+ Demonstrated success selling deals in the $ to 50M range
+ Demonstrated consecutive quarterly and yearly quota achievement in complex selling environments utilizing a solution selling model
+ Bachelor's degree
