The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in concrete finishing, concrete carpentry, construction of formwork and be a team player, positive and hardworking. All driving is local within El Paso Tri-State areas.
Job Summary
Safely performs transportation of heavy equipment, raw materials and goods, hazardous material and waste, to and from job sites. Secures all loads that are being transported according to TxDot regulations. Inspect loads for any damages before and after to ensure the quality of delivered equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving vehicles or mechanized equipment and transport the heavy equipment from one job site or yard to another job site or yard.
- Follow all OSHA and TxDOT regulations.
- Inspecting equipment, loads, materials and identify any cause of errors or other problems or defects before and after to ensure the quality of delivered equipment.
- Observing, receiving, information while driving and following safety regulations.
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems all while driving.
- Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
- Keep constant communication with Superintendents to ensure timely pickup/delivery of equipment.
- Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Crank trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered equipment.
- Assist Labor Crews with manual labor as needed and necessary for the completion of the project.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and methods for transporting heavy equipment from site to site.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
- Prior experience in a construction environment a must.
- Must have current CDL/Hazmat, medical card, and experience working around heavy equipment.
- Have a positive attitude, team player and strongly committed to safety.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Follow all Safety Regulations and TxDOT requirements.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
- Able to bend, stoop, climb, repeatedly throughout the day.
- Must be able to sit, walk, stand for long periods of time.
- Able to drive on rough, rocky or uneven surfaces at construction sites.
- Must be able to perform heavy labor tasks as necessary.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver products to customers while abiding by load safety, DOT, and general safe driving guidelines as well as CK standard operating procedures.

- Complete daily electronic trip reports and shipping papers concerning deliveries.
- Maintain the proper cleanliness of assigned vehicles and carefully review pre and post-trip vehicle inspections.

- Load and unload cylinders/product supplies from the delivery vehicle while on route, and beginning/end of the day.
- Ensure all required cylinders are bar coded properly.
- Conform to uniform and safety equipment policies.
- Communicate with customers and relay pertinent information back to the manager.
- Follow and enforce all safety guidelines and requirements including proper personal protective equipment for employees and visitors

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have a current Class B CDL, Class A Preferred.
- A HAZMAT endorsement is required (or ability to obtain).
- A Tanker Endorsement is preferred.
- Must have a good driving record exhibited by state MVR reports.
- Must have a current DOT medical card, and the ability to pass all DOT requirements.
- Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
- Capable of completing basic mathematical calculations and entering correct information on logs and other reports.
- Vision is correctable to within normal range for vehicle driving and completion of records.
- The ability to move or lift products and materials of varied sizes and weights up to 50lbs without assistance.
- Capable of working in diverse and often times unpleasant weather conditions.
- Ability to drive in all types of weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB

The work environment for this position is a warehouse/outdoor environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud and occasionally very loud. When working in the warehouse, you will regularly work around moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock.

ABOUT THE JOB
Our Truck Drivers are reliable and dependable and represent Helena in a courteous and professional manner while out on the road and at the home office. Our drivers are required to use tact and diplomacy in every aspect of the job when working with our customers, other Helena employees and with their leaders.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
- Assists in loading trailer with materials.
- Unloads trailer by using forklift or hand truck.
- Transports loads over required route to proper destinations.
- Obtains shipping bills and necessary signatures.
- Returns completed paperwork to the shipping office.
- Removes empty skids from trailer truck and carries them to designated piling area.
- Performs miscellaneous service duties on vehicle including checking oil, water, gasoline and air in tires on a daily basis.
- Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Class A CDL is required.
- Hazmat & Tanker endorsements are required.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
- Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB
At Helena, safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could be potentially harmful to our employees.
The work environment for this position is a warehouse/outdoor environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud and occasionally very loud. In this position, you will work outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working in the warehouse, you will regularly work around moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock.
This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand (8 hours a day or more), lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more), reaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs), climbing, gripping, grasping and twisting using hands and wrists, bending and stooping for long periods of time, working below knee levels for short periods of time and working above shoulder level for short periods.
