Supports Auburn University's energy management and conservation initiatives and programs through optimization of campus building systems.
**Essential Functions**
+ Supports new commissioning efforts by performing design reviews, report reviews, and item follow-up to ensure that new systems are started efficiently.
+ Performs Building Automation System (BAS ) programming to implement energy management strategies
+ Performs Test and Balance functions to evaluate the current condition of buildings in support of the Continuous and Retro-Commissioning efforts.
+ Uses predictive maintenance techniques in the analysis of buildings.
+ Develops reports from analysis of buildings for distribution to appropriate Auburn University personnel.
+ Performs minor repair activities on building components during commissioning projects to aid in the efficiency of buildings.
+ Performs troubleshooting activities to improve building performance and aid Auburn University personnel in completing root-cause analysis functions.
+ Performs training of building systems to aid maintenance personnel in developing skill levels.
+ Performs minor retrofits that will result in energy savings or building operation improvements.
+ Monitors and analyzes results of improvement projects to illustrate outcomes to upper managements.

POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all Building Automation Systems throughout Wake County Public School System (WCPSS). Works closely with operators and other field personnel to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Building Automation Systems. Performs highly skilled technical work involving maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and building automation systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Considerable knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC systems, equipment, and fixtures;
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Google Apps;
- Working knowledge of computers and electronic hardware, software, and programming;
- Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards;
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills;

- Experience with Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Trane, and/or other building automation systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs experienced or master craftsman level work associated with building automation systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures.
- Responds to assigned work orders relating to energy management and HVAC.
- Troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution.
- Replaces faulty or defective building automation equipment and systems.
- Monitors and adjusts building automation software to ensure efficient operation equipment and compliance with energy policies.
- Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed.
- Adheres to laws, regulations, and requirements set forth in the WCPSS Safety procedures/policies.
- Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintains a safe work environment.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in an indoor and outdoor environment. This role routinely uses a variety of equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 75 pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment, as well as frequent exposure to hazardous materials, gases, and chemicals, moving parts, and inclement weather conditions.
