Job Description
The MIL Corporation is seeking a Journeyman Engineering Analyst (Engineering, Analyst) to support the development of technical data package documentation for communications systems projects. The Journeyman Engineering Analyst supports a Federal Government client from our Lexington Park, MD location.
This position currently requires a hybrid schedule with 3 days on-site and is eligible for Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.
Responsibilities
- Analyze design concepts and preliminary plans for communications systems including network/information technology (IT), audio/visual, and radio frequency (RF) systems.
- Research information on equipment, protocols, and interface requirements.
- Perform Trade Studies and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and provide recommendations.
- Independently develop detailed design documentation including cable block diagrams, cable run sheets, and wire lists.
- Trace design across multiple drawing types to ensure accuracy and compatibility.
- Identify and fix issues with proposed physical or logical connections.
- Assist in developing master equipment lists and master parts lists.
- Ensure design solutions will meet system requirements.
- Work with Engineers and Project Managers.
Up to 20% per year, as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of related experience
- Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD
- Experience working in the DoD environment
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, interface control documents (ICDs) and other documentation
- Understanding of TIA/EIA Structured Cabling Standards
- Familiarity with networking, A/V, and RF technologies
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, USB, and other data communications protocols
- Knowledge of video compression and transmission methods as well as video cabling including HDMI, DisplayPort, and SDI
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel
- Strong communications skills
- Ability to work independently without oversight
- Excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with DoD Military Construction (MILCON) projects
- Experience with Naval Air Warfare Command Aircraft Division Webster Outlying Field (NAWCAD WOLF) projects and documentation

Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline from an accredited college. A high school diploma and seven (7) years of additional work experience related to the position -OR- an Associate's Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college plus four (4) years of additional work experience related to the position may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.

Job Description
The Engineering Analyst supports engineering activities such as CAD design and mechanical layouts, test, and modifying applications. Design, defines, and implements complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. You will report to the Engineering Team Lead.

- Finalize system schematics, assignment of wire numbers, selection of wire type/gauge.
- Support engineering in the design of control, drives and automation systems working in a project team environment.
- Perform detailed hardware layouts and create manufacturing release packages.
- Provide updates to project manager/leader on status of activities.
- Performance to schedule and performance to budget for self and other less-experienced engineers.
- May participate in project meetings, production handover, and continuous improvement projects.

Overview
Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering graduates to join our Woodstock, Georgia (GA) office in 2026! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
-
Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.

Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.

Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients' visions for the future built environment.
-
Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn's and our client's practices, procedures, and standards.

Analysts will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS.
Qualifications

An ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) by Summer 2026 in one of the following majors:

Civil and/or Environmental Engineering

Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
